@rockvilleraven naming rights or not, for longtime locals and natives that doesn't matter. For example, those of us who grew up in Erie or have been here for a long time don't call our venues Erie Insurance Arena or UPMC Park. They are still the "Civic Center" or "the Uht" (Jerry Uht Park) to us.

Nothing to overthink here. Clearly the song has been an irritant to Reg for some time. He hears it right at a time when he has a lot of other problems and it is just one more thing, as silly as it seems, and he loses it. We all have these little peeves. Nothing deep here. It gives Newman an opp to inject a little comedic frustration on the organist who we get to enjoy seeing wearing a helmet since last getting hit with a puck.
I'm sure a possible backstory was that it reminded him of his ex-wife Francine in some way or another. But, everyone here is right. It was just one of those things that you're just not supposed to get. It adds mystique to Reg Dunlop's character in the movie.
BTW. This Rod Masters & I am the organist in the movie slap shot. Yep that’s me! Lol

Yeah, there was no context at all in the movie. You weren't supposed to get it. It was just supposed to reveal another layer of Regs quirks.
