  • Lots of requests for this type of tutorial. If this does really well, I'll do one for the other part of the Monorail Elevator that I like to build at. This is not for beginners. I can't stress that enough. But I have numerous other tutorials that can help get you there. This one is for the pro builders who are looking for a new challenge. I hope you find this inspiring!

    When I tell people it took many DAYS - plural and not just hours to build a camp they laugh. Then they start watching build tutorials to attempt similar results. It quickly turns into anything BUT laughter. It does feel pretty good when others really understand the effort put into a camp build. Much appreciation for sharing so many build tactics with us MC.

      Only in the past year have I been able to get a bit faster. But it's only because many of the locations I feature are ones that I have built at numerous times. So I've figured out the quirks and it expedites the process.
      Then there are those camps that still take 50+ hours to complete regardless LOL! I used to get challenged all the time with how long a camp build took, so I removed the time spent building from my videos. But most good builders get it. Thanks for checking out the build tutorial my friend!

      @@g8rh8r7 It's funny you mention that. Each character has different blueprints, so it's hard to keep track on what character has what blueprint. Most of them I can make pretty easy, but some took a lot of time and precision to do. As for the Abandoned Mine walls... yeah they are essential. The wall sets I would really focus on, in order are as follows:
      1. Abandoned Mine Set (For wall merging)
      2. Blue Ridge Set (The angled walls can turn into half walls)
      3. Army Base Set OR The Pitt Set (You can destroy those doorways and snap another wall type directly inside of them)

      @@melhazelton6606 That's not a good sign. Hopefully you didn't build up your roof (floors) level too high or the structure is off-center. That said, what I would try is:
      Go down another half wall level in height.
      Then, catwalk back in towards the structure.
      Add a half wall to the catwalk.
      Add the slant wall on top of the half wall.
      To disconnect the two walls:
      Destroy the half wall
      Turn the slant wall into a half wall.
      Destroy that wall.
      Then remove the bottom half wall.
      If the slant wall won't go in at that point, then your build level is too high, or it might be crooked.

    • @MoonlightCowboyGaming
      @MoonlightCowboyGaming  Місяць тому +2

      @@jeffbarnesyout If you watch closely, I illustrate how I make the roofs spaced differently using catwalks and walls. Start watching at about 6 minutes in. You will see me catwalk out from the middle. Then add a wall and a roof. That roof is centered. Directly afterwards you see where they are up in the air. That's only because I added a roof on the side of the center one and walked it up to that height.
      I then use catwalks and walls to change the spacing, which allowed the roofs to hug the rail. That technique with the walls and catwalks could have been done rather than jumping up to the next series of roofs. But I had to clip about 20 hours of footage to get this video within a reasonable time constrain. I wish I could have shown every last step in full order for everyone, but I think any tutorial over an hour would probably scare some people off. You can space the roofs at any point in the build. That's just when I chose to do it.

    Okay so I'm building on top of the Hawkins weather station where they have the new boss event. I built far away then I built up and then I built a cross and then I built down and now it's saying in some places that the camp module needs support when I try to put it on a medallion even though like it's maybe 2 ft away from another spot that it was getting support from is this normal like does the camp module act weird sometimes when building up in the air I'm guessing yes because everything pretty much is acting weird when you're building in the air but is there a way to make your camp module think that it belongs somewhere that it doesn't?

    • @whytheseaisboilinghot
      @whytheseaisboilinghot Місяць тому +1

    • @MoonlightCowboyGaming
      @MoonlightCowboyGaming  Місяць тому +2

      I'm assuming that you already have the camp at the desired height for building, so I'll skip that and go to the camp device. I've seen issues with the camp module not placing on pre-existing structures. (Read Below)
      Unfortunately there really isn't a good way to combat this, since the camp module floats and can't be merged in the traditional ways. My suggestion would be to try and place a conduit or mat on the spot where you are trying to keep your camp device. If it places on that item, just remove the item after you successfully move your camp module. You could always just float your camp device high enough where it's not an eyesore and build as you were planning to.

    • @whytheseaisboilinghot
      @whytheseaisboilinghot Місяць тому +1

      @@MoonlightCowboyGaming TLDR: this is hard.
      so yeah I'm beyond trying to place it on the actual pre-existing structure of the building. I can't even get low enough to get you know one of the little blueprint floor decors to turn blue. I've seen it done in a person's camp that I came across in the wild so I know it's possible; I'm just too dumb to figure it out. I'm essentially creating enough lag (not too hard with a few of the fluttering moths and a resource robot searching for Nuka-Cola quantums and junk materials pretty much lags all by itself. So then merging the enclave medallion floor pieces until one of them eventually becomes like dead and I can no longer select it or get it to highlight blue in my build menu, that is what I'm moving my module and placing my camp and building on top of that. And most of the videos I've seen people have their friends helping them out but my friends have lives and don't want to sit there and help me float a camp and remove it a gazillion times until I'm finally happy with it so it's been a real pain in the ass... But I feel like it's acting finicky...when I move and replace my camp module to get my camp just a little bit closer to the top of the building it acts like it's not going to want to place. But it doesn't make sense cuz when I'm building in the camp location a little bit above it I'm able to build slainty roofs and flat roofs with the half wall and get down almost like 4 Gantry stairs lower than what it's actually allowing me to move and replace my camp too, when trying to replace it into a lower closer to the top of the middle of the weather station. But, it's not letting me. Is that just one of the weird bugs that I should expect when it comes to building floating camps in restricted areas? Might I add is probably the one and only time I ever built this shit at this level of difficulty. because like having to place everything with a blueprint is a real pain in the ass on top of not even being able to do simple things like doors oh my God am I ADHD I'm replacing what trying to change stuff and make it look more or less not like a "shitty floating camp" so I'm all over the place trying to build this thing. I've got four different levels of roofs snapped together in a staggered out might I add which none of them are connected to the gantry stairs, at the bottom of them for a floor because I can't even place them at the bottom of the stairs for some f****** ungodly reason like it'll snap to everything around it but trying to place a semblance of a floor inside so they you know you have something to land on that is connected to the stairs going down that look like it should have a floor on it no type of floor wants to go in there whether it's a roof or actual floor and all I can say is these types of camps are nightmares. Point blank I was so naive in my thought process of oh I've built lots of floating camps and floating structures... I can do this no problem, but that's a negative. My camp looks like garbage like actual non-conducive floors and roofs that don't even align properly, And I can't get them to do what I want and look normal even if I wanted to. It's like somebody gave me a lot of wood as a level 5 and I built my very first camp with unlimited resources but it really looks like s*** and that I've never built in the game ever and have no concept of the order in which one has to build things or anything like it's all gone to f****** one in ear out the other and I think I'm just going to call it quits. It seems that I realized this a little bit too late that unless you have a planned out schematic and detailed floor plan of what you're going to do beforehand, because going into it 'willy-nilly', as I have?....A terrible idea, My hubris has turned around to bite me in the Bethesda as it turns out I'm completely inept and unable to even complete the most basic walls and roof and a floor that resembles or has any semblance of a house at this point seems a little bit above my skills. Waste of f****** time, stress on a level that is no longer even enjoyable so yeah I might just say to hell with it or just build a a normal boring looking camp and leave the glitching to the experts plant me a garden maybe get a companion at my camp and slow my roll and call it a day and not build in restricted areas ......anyway good luck on the 10,000 views I hope you don't get it for this video because honestly I wouldn't wish having to make a video on how to do this on anyone. But I can't believe I considered myself like a mediocre builder like there's s*** is completely different than what I expected what you describe with the tediousness of it while placing your initial post for the middle of your building doesn't even come close to expressing how truly difficult it really is I mean it comes a little bit close but man this is hard, 😕😕😔😔

It's kind of cool when a nuke does drop it gives you like a little bit of electric damage cuz you can hear your character making like noises but apart from that it doesn't destroy your camp at all it's awesome and I've gotten down close enough like where I can just jump off the side of my camp and I'm right on top of the building pretty much but it's at the edge of my camps space.

The smallest size is quarter length, meaning that it is one-quarter the length of a wall of foundation. So, off that first roof, you just angle it up, add a half wall, add a short catwalk, a 90° bend catwalk, 4 more short catwalks, a 90° bend catwalk, and a short catwalk.
