This will help so many of us, Thank you. It would be great if you could show this on a bulky nail that had too much base and absorbed a lot of powder. I think we all did this when we started dipping and may help a lot of newbies.

When I do my cuticle line I like using a real thin metal file it gets right up in their beautifully

Thank you so much for this video! I never knew you weren't supposed to buff if you used a gel top coat..I was wondering why I was getting peeling!
You can def buff BUT use a primer under the gel top. That’ll help!

How do you efile without scratching the dip powder? Anytime I use an efile I scratch the dip powder and they have the white cloudy spots on them when applying top coat
You may be using a file that’s too coarse. Try a softer file and then a buffer after filing
Does filing and buffing negate putting on the gel base to encapsulate it? To me it seems like I only put it on just to take it off. Just curious 😊
Kind of lol but that the point. Instead of removing color while filing, you’re just filing into the clear gel!
I always hand file when doing a mani; I only use an efile for removal. I need a LOT more skill and practice with the efile before it goes anywhere near a fresh mani 😂

How many dips do you do? When do you apply a clear dip over your dip?(color, glitter etc.)
I usually do 3 dips total (2 color 1 clear) but that can vary depending on nail length and powder quality.
You can add clear over top anything for extra strength and thickness but I 100% recommend it over glitter, ombré and French designs so when you file you don’t remove the design or full glitter 💞
My ridiculous OCD is hoping you eventually buffed over that tiny shiny spot on your ring finger (left after filing)….. my brain was saying “get it, get it”. 🙄

I love this, it's so helpful to know we can do our filing with a hand file and there's nothing wrong with that.
On a different note, I have a question. I have long nails naturally. I do 2 to 3 layers of dip in total but at the part of my nail right at the end of the nail bed on the sides, they always get soft when I use gloves at work. Is there a way to make that area a bit thicker maybe with dip powder so I'm not always worrying I'll break them?
Absolutely! The beauty of dip if you can add as much or as little product as you need! Perhaps start your process with a 1/2 dip of clear from the center of the nail to the edge. Then your 2-3 full dips. That should reinforce that edge for ya 💞
This is awesome I used gel Method when I first started and didn’t like it because my nails would be lumpy. I never knew you could file them like this. What do you do differently if you were to top coat it with gel?
The only thing k would recommend is to apply a gel primer and the your gel top. That will prevent the gel top from peeling off ❤️

You can! After filing, you can use alcohol or wash your hands ❤️
I have gotten pretty good at dipping but I am not good at filing. When all is done I always have rolling hills on my nails even though they look flat at first. I use Revel Nail liquids - they seem thick. Does anyone know of a brand of liquids that are possibly thinner?

Yep 100%. I find gel to give a thinner and more even application. I love the IGel, Virgo and gem, and dipalicious gels. All great!
I keep filing my color off…..help !!!!! I try to get it down and smooth but before I know it the color is gone….any helpful tips ?
Try a file with a softer grit. If you’re using a 150, try a 180
Why were your nails shiny when you started? Why isn’t the filing done after the activator is applied and before the top coat?
I used gel liquids instead of dip liquids. So there wasn’t any activator. They were shiny because I used gel (instead of clear dip) to encapsulate them before filing 💞
