Jay Cutler is on camera recently saying that when he first arrived in Venice, California and started training at Gold’s, Lee Priest was the most impressive and most jacked bodybuilder he’d ever seen. So to say Ronnie should of never lost to Lee is straight stupid and clearly you’re not aware the Ronnie lost to EVERYONE before 1998, not just Lee. Lee is one of the best of all time and everyone knows that. He is Number # 1 on everyone’s list of the Best Arms of All Time. If anything Lee was underrated.

@TheEditor107 Ronnie Colman was 5ft 11inces, Jay Cutler is 5ft 9inces, Arnold Schwarzenegger was 6ft 2inches, and Loe Ferrigno was 6ft 5inces. Priest was barely 5ft 4inches. So in all fairness...to say if he were taller he would never be remembered for anything is a bit of a stretch.

I think ronnie just hate losing to a short guy even though back than his height was 5'9" or 5'10" which is considered short now a days. Now the average height is 6' tall. Lee was super short though at 5'4" and I can see packing in muscle was easy for him.

The title to this video is EXTREMELY misleading. I don’t think that Ronnie has a hateful bone in his body toward Lee. He simply and understandably hated to lose to him.
To be fair Lee did look better that year!
Lee was fighting for everyone for fair pay. He wanted the athletes to be treated better financially. So this made him the bad guy going against the system. So Ronnie should respect lee for putting his neck on the line to help others.

I love Ronnie and I can personal say he is one of the most down to earth people. He worked hard and deserves all his success. Everytime I've seen him at Metroflex you can't help but be inspired by his positivity and kindness to others. I put Brian Dobson up there with him. Great human beings. As far as Lee, he had measurements bigger then most bodybuilders, was most always in great shape and could pose. His height and balls to share his opinion was the only things that held him back but nothing but respect for him for living how he wants. I've heard nothing but good things about him personally.

Pain has really weathered ronnie's facial expression. He sounds really tired. He was always such a smiling loud happy guy before his injuries got bad. It's really admirable that he keeps going with his life and his working out. I really hope he can find someone who can help him, my heart goes out to him.

Lee was a huge inspiration to so many and kept me in the game back in the early 1990s. He was a force amongst a sea of 290lb monsters and crushing it.

I really like this interviewer. He actually listens, responds to what Ronnie says instead of fulfilling a list of questions, and he doesn't interrupt. So many talkshow hosts could learn from him.
I actually like his intensity, too. A lot of interviewers seem to have an overly laidback seemingly subtle disinterest.
Patrick it's awesome you know so much about bodybuilding. I originally started watching you for the mafia interviews but you just so happen to also do the best bodybuilding interviews around as well.
Priest deserved to win when Ronnie got his second "O". Priest made too many IFBB bosses mad by speaking his mind.

Matt Budesa He is talking in terms of there frames. For an overall shorter thinner frame, he had heaps of muscle. Lee was able to produce an insanely dense looking physique while keeping his proportions balanced all while looking very aesthetic

He achieved what others couldn't and said himself he doesnt regret any of it. I don't understand the concept of living a long boring life, once your past 50 years old no one is going to care about you but everyone still knows ronnie coleman to this day and will most likely always be remembered.

I met Lee early in my career and he was the nicest guy. It was at a restaurant in a hotel and he was seated by me. We talked the whole time.

The thing is for a person who's 5'4", Lee himself was an absolute mass monster for his height
The first year Ronnie won the Olympia. I was art director for Muscle & Fitness magazine. The day after he won the Olympia, my assignment was to get twelve exercises of him photographed for the next twelve issues of M&F magazine. Robert Reiff was the photographer, and I was directing the shoot . . . and responsible for making sure Ronnie had what he needed for the day. During the shoot he had about six chicken breasts and about six baked potatoes, and drenched catchup on everything. I'll never forget those wonderful days!!!! Bodybuilding was at its best in the late 80's and 90's and Ronnie was the best that ever lived.

I agree,hes the first idol i had in bodybuilding when i started luftning weights..im a short guy myself, lee had great arms and legs but his upper body was to small in the chest and in the lats, everything else on lee was top 5 in the world and he had probably the best arms ever, its between him and Phil heath..but he was not as complete as ronnie was when ronnie won the Olympia and in 1998 ronnie was unbeatable,yes ronnie had a enormous bubble gut especially in later years but in the mandatory poses nobody could touch him when he was on his A- game..and thats from me who dont even really like his physique,my top 3 is shawn ray,flex wheeler and Serge nubret..and not specifically in that order..

can we as a society, pitch in and pay for whatever research is needed to fix this mans back? Ronnie is such a hard working man and actually inspired me to lift. I never had dreams of Mr. Olympia but I fell in love with lifting! I'm sure there are many others just like me.
Well, when you continue to go as heavy as possible, doing as many sets as possible and for as long as possible, after having multiple spinal surgeries, son, his back isn’t ever getting better. Ronnie doesn’t know how to let up and still tries to workout like Mr Olympia when he can barely walk. Furthermore, it was the incredibly heavy af squats he kept on doing for so long that most likely screwed his back up from the get go. That’s why majority of bodybuilders, such as Dorian Yates, stopped doing squats back in the 80’s or so. I quit squats so many years ago bc squats are the flat out dangerous and too risky. Hack squats are much safer, extremely effective and the much better alternative. Furthermore, when you’re training for 2 hours every workout and doing up to 40 total sets per workout, going extremely heavy and all free weights, you’re going to eventually break down fast. If Ronnie would have used the same HIT training like Dorian and Mentzer implemented, performing only a couple working sets to absolute failure and went no longer than 45 mins to an hour per session, and quit free weight squats, he would more than likely be in better shape today

My Dad trained Lee in Newcastle when he was starting out. Remember seeing him do his Phantom of the Opera routine at a show in Dubbo.
Lee was Always one of my faves, if your gonna be a little on the shorter side might as well have that insane body.
Lee had the arms and abs. No bubblegut. Ronnie looked pregnant after he started his cycles
