phil was 5 9 and 240-45 lb but a 2 inch difference coupled with better legs is gonna matter on that scale

dorian won 6 times because he won most poses every year

The Shadow is one of my favorite Bodybuilders ever. He so intelligent and tells it like it is. He’s always been real.
I’m not really into it but I do watch Dorian interviews on any subject because he’s a great human being both as a person as athlete and politically he speaks the truth so I love the guy and wish him the best.
Have to disagree, he was nothing but bulk, he really destroyed bodybuilding as before that it was all about defined physique.
He's so intelligent he can't even pronounce Hadi Choopan's name....hardly linguistic rocket science.

my opinion Dorian didn't have a physique that even traveled anywhere near the standards that I would fucking have and I don't really care what anyone else fucking thinks to me he was even not even in the top 10 he was too small Dorian was who I think has a good physique that is a very short list

Dorian is spot on. No one today comes even close to the grainy, hard conditioning he displayed in the 90's. One of my favorite stories of his is that during one competition, the soles of his feet started hurting badly and he didn't know why. He finally figured out that your feet have a layer of fat under them and because he was so ripped, that fat had disappeared causing pain in his feet!
Phil Heath would do very well in any era, without a doubt. Love him or hate him, he’s a GOAT.

Patrick Moore had an amazing physique probably the best in my opinion, just the size that was lacking. Great conditioning give him a few years hope to see him do well

Freddie, the only thing Choopan was missing this year was size. He had the conditioning in my opinion, the symmetry, and proportions to a certain extent. He will get better of course. He is one of the best, too quality bodybuilders today.
I think Arnold also said something along the same lines, recently.
They should show the whole physique... including the calves.
Nobody gives shit about calves, they are pure genetics. They only matter when 2 guys are otherwise tied in (Mass, symmetry, balance,condition and separation ) which is rare.

Brandon Curry wouldn’t hold a candle to Dorian Yates in his prime- Yates was a true mass monster with no real weak points, I remember looking at Yates back in the day and thinking WTF, I don’t have that reaction to Rhoden and Curry.
I really agree with you on that but it may be because I'm so used to bodybuilding.I was in my late teens just starting bodybuilding when I first saw Dorian Yates against Lee Haney. Nowadays it's kind of old hat. But Dorian at his bestnone of those guys on 2019 stage would have stood a chance. He look like he was carved by a glacier. Nothing but grainy bedrock none of those guys had that look this year. Not talking s*** I know theywork their ass off its just an observation from somebody that's been in the game for 25 years.

You need to look at Yates in the latter part of his career....the originator of the bubble gut I'm afraid! Yates chased maximum size because he knew that without it his genetic structure would not carry him through.
However you choose to look at it, Yates and Coleman are the reason for bodybuilding being in its current form.

I have heard a lot of controversy about what Dorian said.
Let me say two things,
1. Dorian responded to a question. He did not bring it up.
2. His response was a an assessment or at worst a critique, definitely his honest opinion. He did not ridicule Brandon.
This is interesting. Can’t wait to see the full interview. It seems like EVERYTHING in the 90’s was Superior to today’s standards. Sports dynasties, Entertainment, Comedians, etc. Good stuff 👍🏼

choopan is midget-like, so is bonac. i would _never_ want to be 5'5ish but i think it's the reason they started lifting, small men have to compensate with _something_ this is nothing new. there's nothing impressive seeing these guys irl. ronnie was 5'11, levrone 5'11, and arnold was 6'0-6'1 (claimed 6'2 haha). they looked like monsters irl compared to bonac and choopan. 5'5ish is simply short as fuck for a man.

This was a very good and truthful interview. Brandon is way more muscular and conditioned than most but I had a similar feeling as Dorian on the placings. It was a "Meh 🤷♂️" kinda year for the Olympia. Didn't seem to have the craziness or hype about it (pre or post contest).
