At least he's still breathing at 54 years old. Many bodybuilders have expired by this stage (RIP Rich Piana). I get the impression that Ronnie believes that his training and whatever he did to his body was worth the outcome. Sacrifices have to be made.

You are so correct. I powerlifter for over 25 years starting in the 198 class and stopped in the 275 plus. I have had a biceps tear, right knee replacement, shoulder injuries. Every damn joint in my body hurts now at age 59. I lived powerlifting and at my job as a Firefighter-Paramedic it made lifting patients much easier. Now I'm not even motivated to walk down the street. It sucks. I tell my Step-Son that even the new Crossfit craze will damage you just as bad as heavy powerlifting.

Ronnie prepared for the day when he would go to surgery. He said himself that he worked in the police because from that profession he had the health assurance paid. So, he fulfilled his plan: he trained hard, he became the best bodybuilder ever on this planet and now he has the health problems he prepared for. This guy has the perfect life, God bless him.

He had great biceps...back and legs no doubt but Dorian Yates had better legs and back. Dorian's biceps were not that great. Coleman is a top 5....at best in top 3 all time. Olympian wins are handed out once winning several. Lee Haney also had better genetics than Coleman, as did Flex Wheeler. Gábor Szabó what I said is right, and that is the fact that he would only, maybe, win against 2002 Ronnie. Phil is crazy good but that is not enough, we are talking about the best EVER.

Antyla CrossSection IT WAS you can only say what he is saying if it was worth it and for coleman it was of course right now he is probably in a lot of pain but it still was worth it for him at least, the man is not complaining about it because he wanted to do this and at that time you had to earn your spot and work like a horse that's why they looked so crazy.

I love all the shit talking in the comments. Ronnie didnt ruin bodybuilding...the judges did. If they DIDN'T keep judging Ronnie as king and chose someone with a more "streamline" physique, we wouldnt be where we are at. He did what the JUDGES wanted.
Also...yea...hes crippled now...he also has the most Olympia wins and is a legend in his own right. He did what he did to be the best. Its no different from pro football quarterbacks who made sacrifices for wins and now suffer dementia and other problems that occur when you sacrifice entirely for your sport. Nobody will ever be on his level because nobody is willing to risk it

You have to realize that Ronnie Coleman was FUCKING HUGE! He didn't put size on, he lost a lot of size, what you're looking at is a shrunken version of his former self. The reason Ronnie still looks muscular is that unlike other bodybuilders who stop lifting and get fat, Ronnie still goes to the gym every morning, DESPITE that he now has trouble walking without crutches. That's fucking dedication!
