Needless to say, "Max the wine guy" wouldn't fly
Good one 😂
To be fair, when blind taste tested, most wine experts couldn't tell the difference, either.
Wax the Wine Guy
wait a minute...😳🤨📸
@@backwoodstherapy that's why you waste your money on this shit 🙂
@@backwoodstherapyyeah they can. I'm no expert whatsoever and I have only had one wine in my lifetime that was one of these 100 point wines and I can only describe it as having waves of flavor and a depth that I have never experienced. There's a clear difference at that top level.
When you get one wrong, you actually get two wrong lol.
100% true. The only way to get one wrong is if you give the same answer twice lol
Whoever is the Editor definitely deserves a raise
Thank you! I hope Max gives me a raise

In the words of my wise step-father, "Only bad steaks need A1." He is from Texas so you have to trust his opinion on steak.
Fun fact, there was actually a study that found people will often think a bottle of wine tastes better after they find out it's an expensive bottle
Don’t need a study to know that’s how most things r especially with clothes
That's not specifically with wine. That's with everything.
This is the reason why Blindfolding to taste is the most accurate one.
The truth is. The item only becomes expensive not just because of its taste but because of Marketing.
Fun fact : capitalism is sociopathic
Frankly, I'm kind of surprised that Max didn't take one of those bottles of wine and dry age it in a vat of castor oil or something
Always remember that no matter how much you spend on wine, it'll always just be old grapes.
I think what many people really don’t understand is that when it comes to wine 🍷it’s more about what you like and wanna taste - so the kind of wine you drink. Cost of wine is not necessarily in connection with the actual taste - cause wine does not just simply differ between „good“ and „bad“ wine.
Instead just try something out and find a wine you actually like. After a while you surely find a wine wich matches exactly your taste. However that does not mean that everyone else like it.
So for example: I went to the mall recently and bought a expensive bottle of Italian Chianti from 2018. I thought this was a good wine and I was highly surprised when I actually took a sip and it wasn’t exactly my taste. Instead I’m totally in love with the more affordable standard „Bardolino“. It’s a great Italian wine - at least in my opinion and one bottle of this cost actually less then 10€ at the store.
I use this wine for both cooking and drinking - and sometimes you can even put it into cakes (especially red wine cakes).
So it really depends on what you like - and not so much about what everybody else is saying 😂
Great points! This is something I only just realized (partially through this experiment)
Try Florida wine
@@nicholasficarella4531 next time I find one at the store I try. Problem is since I‘m from Europe they mainly sell regional wines here. Fine wine from France, Italy or Spain are available pretty much everywhere. Sometimes I see wine from Argentina or Chile - but in my entire life I actually never tasted wine from California or Florida 🤔 They simply don’t sell them over here 😂
He got the expensive one right but even admitted he thought none of them taste good
Maybe he just doesn't like wine in general?
I mean like a lot of alcohol it’s an acquired taste
he's not a wine guy.
@@sonofaquack6987so is schweppes.
There are some amazing wines out there just bursting with grapey, juicy, pleasing flavor, and they cost far less than $1000. You have to do your homework and find them--and believe me, you'll notice the taste difference immediately when compared to any other wine, no matter how much the others may cost. There's always a wine for you out there.
Examples?

@@LeMarsouin9 Водка может убить человека физически и морально, я считаю только поэтому она лучше чем пиво и вино. Ну а если без шуток, в России белое французское вино считается одним из самых вкусных, но грузинское - абсолютный фаворит
IMO you got the one that counts good shit
For the people that can't wait, the result: no Max cannot taste the difference
Seeing Max be silly like this is very comforting for some reason
Wine snobbery is best left to the losers that pretend excessive spending on ostentatious luxury goods is a valid substitute for a personality.
Find something that tastes good, if it's cheap then fuck yea you get to drink it more often.
Hey dude, I get your perception of the industry because of the gate keeping around it and your comment is 100% right. However, many are very intrigued by terroir and how it differs between regions. Not everyone who dabbles in expensive wine is doing it to find a “valid substitute for a personality”
To be fair a $1 bottle is trash that will taste like vinegar, but there's a huge improvement from $20 to $40, anything more is a waste and the return on price is insignificant
Perfectly said. I know someone who’s overall a pretty good guy, but what he lacks in personality he makes up with his excessive wine “collection” no joke it’s like a $20000 wine cellar. He always feels the need to mention when he gets a new “fancy” wine.
But if it was cars? Watches? Clothes? Musical instruments? Art? Michelin starred dining? Funny to call someone who can afford these things a "loser" or someone who thinks enjoying these things is a "substitute for a personality" considering most people, to have the money to buy these things, have to be pretty solid at whatever they do to make money... Which usually requires a pretty good personality.
In short, I'm not concerned with how someone spends their money. And if they enjoy it, I don't give a shit.
@@sethgaston845 all those things you mentioned sound more interesting and respectable than being a “wine connoisseur ”
The fact that $1 bottle exists blows my mind.
Aldi has cheap wine
@@EveofPyrite the empty bottle is half the price, so the wine is actually 50c, with the markup, so producer is giving it for free? It needs to be delivered...I just cant believe it. I am aware there are no grapes in it probably, but math simply doesnt work.
@@81ibognar lol he probably lying now that I think about it. The cheapest wine I ever seen was 2.95. Thiaw wines usually are similar to juice

2 buck chuck $1.99 at trader Joes yes produced at loss
A bottle of wine for a dollar?!?! Tell. Me. Where.
Trader joes
The “We freaking got it, boys!” caught me off guard.
I went on a wine tour in South Africa, and the bottles from the winery started at $25 dollars but if I were to buy that same bottle here, it would be starting well over $200. I think for the most part the prices are inflated
Importation fees. Tariffs, stuff like that. Also the amount of hands it's went through.
Manz got some guns 💪💪💪
Basically.
Old wines taste a bit off
Because they’re supposed to.
It’s prioritising the umami value of an aged wine when really day to day wines hit your sweet senses.
So unless you drink expensive wines all the time and learn to love them you only like the difference because you paid for the difference
"Number 1... it's definitely a red one." What are you talking about they're all red. 🤣
From my Enology professor, you’ll taste the different up until the $500-$1000 range, after that you’re just drinking it for either the status, history, or memories
I'd argue that past even past $50 the difference is hardly noticeable for the average wine drinker. There are absolutely spectacular wines in the $20-50 range that are better than a lot of wines in the $100+ range.
If you got 1 wrong, then you got 2 wrong 😂
He said either he's looking like an idiot.... His editor took it serious
"Got one wrong" gets 2 wrong XD this whole video was all over the place.
He tried 3 different variations of wines. He needs to buy all Cabernet Sauvignon to try them otherwise his taste buds aren’t going to process
I didn’t know they had wine for a dollar
"I just don't trust my own opinon" you got that right!!!
Try the difference between 1$ water bottle and a 10000$ water bottle
This is like: Can i see the difference between White, Gray and Black?
tbh you have to be experienced in wine tasting to notice the subtle nuances and flavors between the 2.
Deadass you’re the best culinary channel
The best wine is the one you like and enjoy.
Do not let branding and pricing fool you.

@@ikaiko8612 You are wrong. Good brands are good because of Marketing and because of Marketing, they get popular and become expensive. Your statement is what rich businessmen want you to believe because rich businessmen can easily fool you to buy their product by Marketing.

As someone who works in the wine industry, I can confirm that: 1. Wine is a fickle beast and 2. There are severely diminishing returns once you get above the $100 price point.
bro said chateau haut brion tastes bad☠️
Opening an Haut-Brion that young is criminal.
W editor that ending fucking killed me
Woop, he noticed that a lot of wines aren't too different from eachother
Wow a first growth Bordeaux is a good choice for expensive wine though. Even if you don’t have the palate, the choice shows good taste 😉

This was actually done in one of Agatha Christie's books lol. A woman who liked to mess with people gave her two friends (not exactly) three cups of wine and said each onr was different. Then explained they were the same.
It's been proven that not even the best wine critics couldn't find out abd got fooled by cheap wine

Where did you find a 1 dollar bottle of wine
In Italy we order great quality wine shipped to our house for €70 total and get 30 bottles.
I feel bad for my family in the US who think that wine is some expensive fancy drink just for special occasions.
You can get a bottle of wine here for $3. Lol
@@floridaman318 I'm going to assume that you are talking about the US, sure you can get cheap wine, but it's not going to be very good
1st growth bordeaux takes hours to open up. I open it over night till midday the next day to allow it to evolve. I know its a bit extra. But so is the wine
Lesson of the day: wine tasting is subjective and it's more or less the same
Don’t forget about the study that found that most experts (or experts in training to be exact) could not tell the difference between white wine and another glass of identical white wine that was dyed red to look like a red wine. Most of the participants described the dyed white as if they were drinking an actual red wine, so wine tasting is kinda bullshit and so are those exorbitant prices
Me still having Wine from 2004
Hectare - Cheap Cabernet from the states
Unanime by Mascota - good Cabernet from Argentina
Chateau Haut-Brion Pessac-leognan 2018 - ultra premium Merlot Cabernet blend from Bordeaux France.
William the wine guy.
i feel like in another universe instead of “Max The Meat Guy” theres “Penelope The Plant Girl”.
Don’t blame him he’s the meat guy not the wine guy
It's funny because all red wine is the EXACT SAME THING
1 dollar bottle of wine sign me up
I don't know how long you aerated the 1000 but old / expensive wines will taste cheap before sufficiently aerated. Sometimes making it wait in the glass is even better. Some wines are so strong that before your mouth gets used to it you can't get the nuances (like what happened to Max here, first sip is bad then those following get better and better)
Bro really said “definitely red” 💀
theres different types of wine with different colors
Also him: I can’t afford first class
You call that a blindfold thats More like a Peeky boo at the cups
There is no way in hell that I bottle is one dollar. I would like to see a receipt because I can’t buy a liter of water for a dollar.
Didn’t know Christian Ericksen liked to cook as well
Let's not talk about how he can see the glass under the blindfold and just sees the black market through the tape
Didn’t Aldi put a $5 dollar wine up against multiple $1000+ dollar wines and smoke em?
Have you ever had bloopers of bloody steaks?
Imagine spending 999 dollar more for small increase in taste
Max we can see you’re not a wine connoisseur 😂
I marinated a 10 dollar Amazon steak in 1000 dollar wine for 45 days
Here’s what happened
Once you get above $50 a bottle, it is no longer about quality. Really expensive wines are just rarer which causes the price to go up due to supply and demand. This is the case for a lot of types of alcohol.
I'm not saying expensive wine can't be good. It just isn’t the reason why most expensive wines are that price.
You got 2 wrong and 1 right mate
My dad has a winery, and from what he tells me, the difference between a 100 dollar wine and a 1000 dollar one is almost nil
The only difference is just the popularity of the brand similar to clothes.
Where tf you get one dollar wine
Is no one gonna talk about how big is biceps are
“I got one wrong”
Count again bud
I’m not surprised that max is buff because of all the protein he eats
Drinking a 2018 first growth now would be pretty harsh, that shit needs time in the bottle
That wine specialist is legit! I've seen him at total wine in New York! I hope he gets his share of the ad revenue.
trying to guess the wine based on the price and not based on the production area is the most American thing I've seen today
Why is that so many people can't taste it in between expensive bottles and cheap bottles yet there are these connoisseurs that swear up and down that there's a distinct difference between the two or three
Bordeaux wine is quite weak compared to most. Not a lot of body. We give Merlot to people who don't like wine as an initiation wine. If you do the same test and buy an expensive Malbec you'll feel the difference at all moments.
