I have commented on this song before. I used to think this was a cry out to God from a broken and desperate soul. However, since my wife of 31 years (Mary) passed away on 9/11/22, with me sitting by her ICU bed as I very helplessly watched her "life clock" countdown to 0:00, this song has taken on an additional meaning. This song hits really hard. I saved my best friend's life in 2016, after he swallowed pills. I was on the phone with him for 20 minutes until the ambulance arrived. He asked me what gives me hope, and I told him not seeing him if he died today would break my heart, and that God and I loved him. His girlfriend was pregnant too and he got to see his kid born that next April. His son has a father in his life today because of me, and I am so grateful.
Saved someone I loved deeply.. we were soulmates....needless 2 say it didn't end well 4 him...oh well, I tried!...that's all anyone can do...there's always a price 2 pay! 🌠

I'm a deathcore fan through and through, but I swear on everything, this band knows how to bring out the emotions in me. This song can pull tears like nobody's business. Regardless of the hate these guys get, they are in fact, very good.
My brain remembers these lyrics and the melody instantly even though I've not listended to this for 15 years. Nickelback wrote some really memorable songs man. I've totally forgotten how much I liked them back in the day.
I dont care what anyone thinks, this song brings me, a grown man to tears whenever I hear it. Thanks for expressing my interalised trauma. It really helps.
Did you not catch on that once you save someone they take the ability and you lose it? So although that is an amazing idea you would only have the power to save one person
This song has carried me through so much .screaming into a lightening storm and am still standing ..never let the pain kill you ,face it use that pain ...you are not alone
I'm just gonna say it, I LOVE Nickelback. Almost every single song is amazing and I love to listen to and sing along. I actually think this video would make an amazing movie premise.
There's loads of modern rock bands who have deep songs, for example: Black Stone Cherry - Things My Father Said, Hinder - Far From Home, Incubus - Dig, Finger Eleven - Change The World, Shinedown - Second Chance, The list goes on.
***** If your after rock music, over here in the UK we have Planet Rock and Kerrang Radio, maybe see if you can listen to them on their websites. Hope its helpful :)
My younger sister took her life on 7 July 2024. She was my best friend and we spent the last 10 years saving each other from debilitating mental illness and suicide attempts. I couldn't do anything to help her in the end and the emptiness I feel can be felt in this song right here. The powerlessness I feel being left behind. The words and things I know could not have changed a thing even if I had tried.

I don't know why Nickelback gets so much hate. I love Nickelback so much and they have been my favorite band for four years now and I know I will love them for the rest of my life. This song is my favorite song and it has been since I first started listening to them and I have always wanted to meet Chad Kroeger because he is the one who writes the lyrics to all these amazing songs. I never have come across a band or another songwriter that has had near as much of an effect on my life as Nickelback has and I hope that they get to read this so they know just how fucking amazing their music is and how special it is to me. Thank you so much for creating such awesome and meaningful songs.

The video symbolizes or touches on the fact that when someone helps another with pure altruistic motive, the receiver often feels inclined to return the favor with altruistic motive also. The psychological concept of reciprocity. "In social psychology, reciprocity is a social norm of responding to a positive action with another positive action, rewarding kind actions. As a social construct, reciprocity means that in response to friendly actions, people are frequently much nicer and much more cooperative. Reciprocity makes it possible to build continuing relationships and exchanges." Love the directing of this short video. Represents this psychological phenomenon in a cool, supernatural way.
Una gran banda, tengo 43 años, escucho música desde los 15, crecí con otras bandas pero esta me gusta mucho, y tenes razón, para mí Nickelback no apesta.
@@zanderj9335 For their music to sound the same, perhaps it's their theme as a rock band; play rock, sound like rock, I don't know. I would understand that people think Chad is an idiot, we all have our opinions; but I',m not gonna single him out. I think Nickleback is a great band.
Oh yeah! Beautiful concept for a music video. It actually has a story. Surprised this hasn’t been turned into a movie. I’d love to see a movie about this!
Anytime I watch this, even if I hold it back, a tear will escape me. The message in this song hits like no other. Although it's an old song, it will still be one of the best out there.

This song with Chad's haunting voice, and the video concept is a brilliant piece of story telling. Every time I watch this video, I fill with emotions about mortality, and how little time we actually get here..., and to be able to impact someone else's life so powerfully whether they realized or not is truly humbling.

This became my brother and mine's song. Got us through our mom passing. He is now in the hospital with sepsis. Stay strong brother. ❤ Get better soon Cory.
Well, if you actually try to read the message behind the video it's about paying it forward. It's the ultimate message. He was saved by someone so now he has to pay it forward by saving someone else. Which is why he is surprised to see the time over every ones heads. It's why he can't see his own time. Then after he saves someone his time is over his head and he moves on about his life. Hence the term "Paying it forward". I love the message in this video. It's a cool premise.
that is the best definition of the video, trying to find a better meaning, thats best i have found thanks man, i'll use this video for a school pres sometime
This song and video show what we want for each other. To save each other. If you ever thought Nickleback was a joke, just listen. They are and continue to be one for the history books.
My best friend in high school use to play this all the time. Wow where does time go? He passed away of a heart disease in 2015 but this song still remains as his memory in my heart. Rip my friend. I love you bud
The concept behind this video is sick. I watched it over and over like a movie. It's better everytime. If only we as humans were out there actually looking out for each other like that instead of not even lifting our eyes as we walk by.

Everybody has their chance to be ridiculed for something. Maybe those who talk bad about nickelback never even heard their music. Maybe they have and never liked their music. Who knows? None of their opinions matter though, they are free to have them, but that doesn't have to change our feelings about Nickelback. I for one, will always love their music.
I suppose. I've never been to a concert but my boss went to one of their concerts and told me about it. I suppose seeing them in public may have a different affect. But I grew up with Nickelback, so it's hard for me to dislike them now. First Impressions I guess.
This song really saved me back in January 2019 last year. Had just turned 17 and was having extreme suicidal thoughts. Its been almost 2 years, but I vividly remember laying on my air mattress with my earbuds in during the night crying my eyes out to this song. After the song ended I just layed there feeling a feeling I cant really describe. This was one of the 3 songs that I think seriously saved me. I still have those thoughts and the same outlook, but atleast I still have these songs to help me.
are you talking about that feeling after you cry where your just numb feeling? and yeah, its comforting when you know your not so alone in this world...
Please seek help! We and mostly I do not want you to leave this earth before a life well lived! You are 17? Honey, life gets better. I personally had issues since adolescence and I promise your life can get better! At your age you might not have all the control you would need. But hang in, please! We need you!
I do understand at your age how it is difficult. But I tell you after you get free and independent financially, you can create your life mostly as you desire it. Hang in there, young man! Wish I was close to you to be more of an help to you. But believe me, life gets better when you get older. So please, hang in there.
I agree, this video is extremely correct. It also shows that one small change or delay, could be the difference between being alive or dead. Seeing the timer on her start to drop (but not full until she was opening the car) shows that had she delayed even a second longer, he wouldn't have had to intervene to save her. Any decision, even something simple as getting in your car, could be the last one you make.
@@JediMastr80 Notice that the reason he almost died was because he was talking on the phone while walking the street. At the end of the video, after saving the girl, and after he stopped seeing the numbers, he was walking away as he turned around while reaching for his phone, and at the last scene he's seen crossing the street while on the phone. The same thing he did when almost died in the beginning of the video.
@@JediMastr80 It happens all the time, (making one deviation, and disaster is avoided.) Most of the time we don't know it. It's happened to me a couple of times, when I knew I 'dodged a bullet'. Once, literally, when I was 19 & working as a framing carpenter. We'd just about to start framing the second floor. I was always the one to be the monkey on the tops of the walls. We were putting plywood on the 1st floor walls to make everything more stable, and the guys went to get another sheet. I was standing up, stretching my legs, and saw a nail wasn't driven in on a ceiling joist. I squatted down to it in, just as something whacks the big fir tree this L shaped house was built around. A fraction of a second the crack of a gun comes through the woods. If I hadn't seen the poor nailing and decided to fix it, I wouldn't have had the last 56 years of my life. About 5 years ago, I was in NY, on Long Island, visiting my wife. The NY apt is on a very busy road, and there is no off street parking. I had just parked, and was getting out of the car, when I remembered something on the passenger seat. I leaned back in to get it, and the door closed against the back of my legs as I reached out for it. At the same instant I touched the package, a car doing at least 50-60 mph, clipped the rear view mirror on the car. If I hadn't remember the package, I would have been standing right where the mirror was. The driver didn't even put on their brakes. If it hadn't been rush hour traffic, I would have been back in the car, and we would have had a 'conversation'. It pissed me off thinking it could have been my wife, instead of me, and their might not have been a package to save her. I just kept thinking, 'It could have been...' I WAS pissed. The ironic thing to me, is I've had a few other close calls. Since I was 19, I've saved three different people's lives. If that bullet had hit me, it would have been center of my chest. I would have died before I hit the ground, and the three people I saved wouldn't have lived.

I believe the concept of this video is a demonstration of how people treat each other, and if your heart yearns to help others. The guy at the beginning was immortal because he didn't have a chronological clock like others. But in saving that guy's life he passed on his immortality to him, and restarted his clock making him mortal again. It gave the new guy a chance to realize something about his new gift. He could use it to be selfish and keep his immortality, or make a sacrifice and use it to help someone else saving their life. If only more people in the world had that kind of mindset, the world would be a better place.
+Dean Andrews Intresting interpretation of the video thou i belive the reason is simplear than that, based on the rules on a story like death note, is impossible for a person with the eyes of the god of death to see his o her own life's span, it would be like cheating or at least haunting, cause you would know exactly when you are going to die, ergo you would obsess about it and stop living normally. at least that is what i think n_n
+amaelysz volve It'll happen sooner or later. Just like fashion repeats it self so does history. It's true though, there's no bands that are like from even 10 years ago. Music is just different now. Especially since electronic music got big in the last 5-6 years.

Reciprocity makes it possible to build continuing relationships and exchanges."

I love this video, because its so painfully right. We all die sooner or later and we just have a limited amount of time in this world.

It happens all the time, (making one deviation, and disaster is avoided.) Most of the time we don't know it.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written, IMO
Listening in 2017,and I tend to ask myself where those good old days went...

“Say it if it’s worth saving me” this song is hitting emotions hard rn.
boohoo shut up
yah🥺 life was diff then, life was a little better, 9-30-24
missing the time when this kind of music and video clip went on tv
You and me both smh. Those were the days. When music was actually meaningful.
this time must come back. It's the best kind of music
+amaelysz volve It'll happen sooner or later. Just like fashion repeats it self so does history.
It's true though, there's no bands that are like from even 10 years ago. Music is just different now. Especially since electronic music got big in the last 5-6 years.
+amaelysz volve I agree
i'm french and i can assure you that i have the same shitty things on tv
This song truly hits different, such a masterpiece
Man this would be an amazing movie.
hi, what's the movie called?please tell me
@@blackse1599 he meant that this would be a good movie if one was made. There are some like it such as "in time" featuring Justin Timberlake. And there's one with people getting sent back in time to be killed and a killers older self gets sent back to himself and the story continues, no spoilers. Forgot what the movie is called but if you're interested I can try checking for you
@@artiompostnikov6026 I will be glad
Black SE there is no movie, I’m saying it would be a good movie if somebody made it
Yall must have never seen IN TIME? 🤦♂️
It's currently 2022 and this is still the best song ever, love you Nickelback
Always one of my favorite bands!
Nickelback*
Factsss
I’ve recently gotten back into them, and this song is currently on repeat
I love this song, nickelback is awesome.
One of the best songs of all time
& also one of the best MV of all time
I love this song .. This song always reminds me to see what lies beyond your sight .. To see my reflection on a clear mirror ..
This song helps me to recognize myself .. to walk through the life ..
Thank you so much ..
This is one of my most favorite Nickelback songs. ❤️
Hi
love from india
I remember seeing this music video for the first time when it was playing on VH1 at about 9 years old, and it has always stuck with me. It’s incredibly profound and now at 27 it makes me cry.
I have the same memory :) :( mixed emotions
This song was released in 2006. If you're 27 now, you would have been about 11 when it was released, not 9.
@@brettcooper3893 I said about 9 lol. Sorry I didn’t remember the exact year.
I swear we all live the same lives hahaha
Seriously I was searching like death timing in head
😅😅😅😅😅
And then I normally see nickleback
And I remember his songs played on radio
And when I saw this video
I was like
Yes
I got it
