- Hey y'all! Sooo I made it to one year loc'd! I hope this video gives you good insight to my loc journey and encourages you to either start or keep going on yours. I started my 2nd set of locs during a very trying time which I can go into if you like, just let me know in the comments.

Sis your locs are so beautiful!😍😍 I’m currently on my second set and I feel you on starting over. I was loc’d for a year with my first set before I went and got them cut off to start over with a TWA. When I tell you I missed my locs! It was to the point I had dreams about them 😂 But I finally started over in January, so May will be my 4 month anniversary. I’m trying to be patient, but it’s worth the wait! Again, it’s nice to see your journey and transparency about it. Thank you and be blessed! 🤍

That’s where I am. Took my loc out after a year of having mine. Now trying to grow my hair back. Hair was so much better when I had my locs. Your hair looks really good

Tiana, I’m glad I came across your video thanks for sharing. First, you are so pretty, and your hair is bomb. I stumbled across your page because I’m interested in getting loc for the first time, and I need an example to show “the lady” when I go talk to her 😄.. I want mine to turn out like yours. Beautiful! I'm considering locing my hair but the shrinkage is one thing I'm concerned about. My hair so long and shrinks up SUPER short. So I'm going to have to wrap my brain around that. But I love your size. They're gorgeous!

Started mine April 6th 2021 because my hair would keep falling out no matter what protective style I would put in because of either the products or the condition of my hair. I was also uncomfortable with the shrinkage because when I first got them, they were barely past my ears. Now a year into them, they are now below my face and almost to my shoulders. I have soft locs in rn ( I also did mine, I’m a 13 yr old hairstylist) but taking them out next weekend because mine are also really heavy. I’m so happy I chose this bc it’s also really easy to maintain sometimes but obviously still needs also of taking care of to stay healthy . When doing styles, my parts are already there, when taking out styles I was just shake and wear my natural locs

Thank you! And I felt that way with my first set. Try to look at the bigger picture and let them progress with time. If you can’t stay on the journey, you can always start over when you’re ready ❤️
I honestly felt the same way. It will be a year for me in April. I would say look up loc styles to do on your between the times you get them retwisted. Even if it's just a pony tail with bangs. I wish you many blessings on your hair journey. It truly takes patience and learning to love the journey.

What did you use to grow your locs

Thank you! For this video I used a Sony ZV-1, a lavalier lapel mic, and a ring light.

This video is exactly the look I’m going for my hair is very very soft and I want to maintain that look and texture but I would like to lox it this has helped me a lot to understand how the process may or may not go for me .if in the event I don’t want the ends to loc but instead to stay curly even after a year or two is that possible?
I saw a video about keeping loose ends. She said that she runs the end of a pin/rat tail comb thru the tips then moisturize and seal them

sometimes you need to let them grow out so you can see if you want to continue the process with the same thickness… I had to take half of mine out at the one year mark to make them thicker. my 3c fine hair couldn’t take the weight of the size I had… they were thin but growing literally overnight so I needed more hair in each section to support it.
Re: shrinkage, the funny thing is the longer your hair is when you start the more shrinkage you will have. I started with 10” and my hair shrank to a third of the length. also, if your hair isn’t very dense (mine) it takes longer for the locs to fill in and drop🤷🏾♀️

Month 12 looks good! Not a lot of scalp showing from over maintenance and the length is good. I hope you kept going!

@@610shizz3 I had double the length but I needed to remove the split ends so I cut it. It's still longer than it's ever been loc'd or loose. My IG is tianaalexandra.

Same products as the first time minus the natural aloe. So African pride 5 essential oils, water, and most likely fruit of the earth aloe (very little)

I’m not loc’d anymore but just water for moisture. I’d seal it with an oil.

How did you wash you beginners locs
I washed them like I would loose hair but my main focus was my scalp. The only thing I didn’t do is add conditioner.

How far do your locs stretch now?
Most of them are extremely dense and will not stretch anymore. For the ones I can stretch, they’re armpit length.

Yay! Glad I could motivate you. If you’d like to wear wigs over your locs for comfortability or just to switch it up, yes! Whatever your preference is, do what makes you feel good.

What did you use to grow your locs
I don’t use any specific product to grow locs or loose hair. Genetics and water are the main growth stimulants for me.
