Dio is a hero!!!. One of my top 5 favorite Rock/Metal singers ever with Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath (Heaven & Hell) and solo. That album Holy Diver is great, an essential piece of Metal history. This woman is so beautiful, that eyes, those eyebrows, that voice, that smile, she bewitched me haha.
The song is actually longer, they cut down the solo on this. Don't Talk to Strangers Shame On The Night The Last in Line Egypt ( The Chains are On ) Sacred Heart ( Live. ) so must hits but these are a good start. To be honest, His first three albums are Masterpieces.
Honestly, not just the first 3. I really enjoy Dream Evil, Killing the Dragon, and Master of the Moon. And Magica is straight-up my favorite Dio record.
Stargazer is an absolute must after this song (the studio version is probably best for it). It has so many layers to his vocal skills and the song itself has a very storytelling way of telling the song.
Kill the king is probably my favourite dio track and vocal performance. Pure speed and power. Both album version and live performances are great. Don't talk to strangers from this album and die young from black sabbath are worth checking out too
Legend says Dio and Marlon Brando had a common ancestor, and there is a story about their ancestor wearing a stone mask, getting vampiric and time stopping powers and so on......legend says this song is a tribute to their common ancestor.
For Dio at their best (and his, of course), I'd say Rainbow In the Dark is pretty unbeatable for solo band, or Stargazer when nhe was with Rainbow. Both legendary and he is ELECTRIFYING.
I can't wait until this pops up lol. You should definitely listen to Mystery by Dio next. I've had that song stuck in my head for a week on and off at one point in time. Rainbow in the dark is an amazing song too.
When Ronnie was in Rainbow he wrote a great ballad dedicated to his wife called Rainbow Eyes. Great outstanding vocals on this track. You have to hear it. Great job on your reactions on Dio Aileen.
Hello Ms. Aileen. Can't wait for another reaction. I love how you go to some old school. I love all music but for me songs from the 70s and 80s even early 90s had some real depth. Musicians didn't have the tech stuff to support them. There skills as musicians and singers were more pure in my opinion. Anyhoo. Have a lovely day. You rock and thankyou for doing what you do. :) Oh and say hello to your pup pup.🐕
Dio is my all time favorite singer. This is my favorite song ever by Dio. I wish I could have met him when he was still alive. He’ll always live on. Without Dio, we wouldn’t get the devil horns 🤘🤘. I highly recommend checking out “Metal Will Never Die.” I believe it’s the last song that Dio ever recorded.
Since you like this soo much, I wish to recommend the band Liliac. They are know for their covers/tributes of RJD. Some swear that Melody is Ronnie reincarnate.
@@arnoldcox9128 Definitely. He thought so himself as well. He mentioned in interviews how the pressure and breathing techniques he had learned to master helped him tremendously when he decided to start singing.
@@j800r_aswell yeah… I think I’ll stick with the Spectrum ‘84 version. It might not be in HD but it’s hell of a lot better in every other aspect imo. To each their own I guess.
Is there a live version where he sings high all the time? I remember seeing some live version when his voice was already a little bit gone so he needed to sing some parts in a lower register. After that I started recommending the studio version for some reactors because the live version didn't give me a legit experience :D
Watching people experience Dio for the first time is always a treat! Thank you for posting this. You've watched Dio with Black Sabbath ("Heaven and Hell") and with DIO ("Holy Diver"). It's now time to complete the main trinity of bands in his career by reacting to a Rainbow song, and "Stargazer" is at the top of the list. Personally, it's my favorite of all of Dio's work; epic, sweeping, and powerful. A tour de force for Dio.
Saw them live at the Apollo theatre in Glasgow on the Holy Diver tour. It was my first heavy metal gig and I remember not being able to sleep for 24 hours after it
I saw Dio[my 1 and only time!]in Florida on the sacred heart tour in '86 in Pensacola,FL. He was amazing and so were the band and DRAGON on stage.Accept wasn't bad either-who warmed up with balls to the wall!
There are a ton of live versions of this on UA-cam. Check out a live 90's version. He also would perform a 'Holy Diver' and 'The Last in Line' medley, he had too many hits to play them all!! And YES, he was known to the most gracious, NICE,decent man, EVERYBODY loved him. The only negative I've ever heard was by an ex guitar player and that was over money. We know how that goes!
Great reaction video! His last two albums are amazing, "Master of the Moon" & "Killing the Dragon" are great & shows that even in his later years he still has that special metal spirit we all love about him. Looking forward to his movie documentary releasing next month. Cheers!
Your reaction is beautiful, I know that Dio would be delighted to hear your response to his music! Since you asked, a song that you should not miss is Rainbow "Rainbow Eyes". A truly poignant ballad and an almost unbelievable performance of Dio's softer and more tender side. You'll love it!
Aileen you REALLY need to review the band called Saphath. With this year's military conflict their debut album almost went unnoticed even despite high ranks in metal magazines, that's undeserved. A good point to start would be the music video entitled "Outcast of Eden". There is so much happening in their music...
One of my biggest regrets is not taking the chance to see Dio live. I remember in 2009 he was touring with the Heaven and Hell lineup of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Motorhead. They weren't coming within 2 states of me and I figured I'd catch him at his next tour. Turned out it was his last tour.
Amen sister preach. Could not agree more. Ronnie had an unbelievable voice. Back when I was in high school mid 80s Dio was about all we listened. Well them and Quiet Riot. But yes huge regret I never saw him live. I can only imagine how great that would have been.
Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell when Dio was in the band. They met and hit it off and wrote that song in one night after chillin in the Rainbow Room in LA. Gotta check it out with the lyrics.
Killswitvh engage did a very tasty cover of this with Howard on vocals. Rainbow in the dark should be your next Dio song. If you're into covers, machine head did an off the charts good cover of maiden's hallowed be thy name.

My absolute favorite of his solo stuff is the song "All the Fools Sail Away." I don't know that I've *EVER* seen someone react to it, and would really love it if you could fit it in at some point. As for Dio in Sabbath, my favorite is "Children of the Sea," which is absolutely crazy good. Can't recommend it enough.

Another great rock singer from the 70's is Ian Gillan of Deep Purple... song: Child in Time live... The first heavy metal acts are considered to be Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, often referred to as the “unholy trinity”.
Bible Black with heaven and hell is a great song from his later career recorded shortly before his passing. Obviously several people have mentioned stargazer and other great songs. But honestly you don't get a bad performance from Dio.
For one of the best DIO live shows I suggest "Evil or Devine" recorded/filmed at the Roseland Ballroom NYC in 2002. I saw him six months later on the same tour and while I have seen Dio several times that band line-up and the set list was the best. Most of the songs/video from that tour are on YT.
Check out Dio with Rainbow, watching the 1977 Munich concert footage of the song "Mistreated" and " Catch the Rainbow" - both songs are what you are looking for in a reaction.
My suggestion would be the song "We Rock" live in 83 official music video, it's a banger and "Don't talk to Strangers" live in 86 at the Spectrum. You will love it live.
One of my fave tracks by the legend! I am eternally grateful that I was able to see Dio live in concert before he passed. It was a show with Dio, Motorhead, and Iron Maiden - a truly legendary lineup. Considering that Lemmy has also passed, the memories of that show are both bittersweet and majestic. Ronnie James Dio is still one of the greatest front men of all time. Touring as lead with Queensryche last I heard and matching Geoff Tate word for word. What a voice.
Aileen, if you do any oldschool gaming, there's a game for the NES called Holy Diver, based on Dio and some other well known names (all unofficially) from the rock genre (although nothing really to do any with them or music, besides the given names). Originally only a Japan release, but a few years back there was a distro who did a limited release for the North American market, decades after the NES was in its glory. Tough game too
A awesome song by Dio and I’m glad Aileen that you reacted to it.Liliac did a cover of this song which is also very good and should be reacted to on your channel ❤️

You know one aspect of experiencing the music video for this that's been lost unless you were alive in that era is fantasy movies were to the 80s what Marvel Comic movies have been for the past 14 years. Conan The Barbarian, Conan The Destroyer, Excalibur, The Never Ending Story, Legend, Labyrinth, Willow, Fire and Ice, Red Sonja, Lady Hawk, The Princess Bride and Clash of the Titans! If you watch a video like this with no knowledge of the time it came out it may seem odd and out of place for a Heavy Metal music video but it fit in PERFECTLY in it's time and place and just made it that much cooler.
Great job Aileen. Yeah Dio was a legend. Just wanted to let you know, though, that Band Maid released a new video the other day. It's called Unleash!!!!! You should check it out I'm sure you'll love it. Take care and keep rocking 🤘
Love this song and the Killswitch Engage cover. You should listen to their early stuff, Howard Jones as the lead black singer makes the vocals Shine, along with their Screamer... Howard left in 2012... So i recommend everything before this time. The end of Heartache, an album title track is a nice start. Don't get me started on All That Remains

Yep. Stargazer is a must. Best rock vocal outro ever.
This! Totally agreed :)

Aileen... "Rainbow In the Dark", by Dio is a must reaction!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
The guitar solos on this album give me chills to this day. Vivian Campbell was just brilliant here.
