  • Let's be honest: some scientific names are harder to pronounce than others and "mesembryanthemoides" doesn't quite roll off the tongue either! The #47 spot of "365 Days of Plants" is definitely a mouthful: Rhipsalis mesembryanthemoides, otherwise known as clumpy mistletoe cactus, although that doesn't sound so enticing either.
I'll go over the history of this cactus, where it grows, how I'm growing it in my home, and also basic care tips.

I’ve had this plant for years and never really understood how to care for it assuming regular succulent care would do. Thank you for the information

Great video! Amazing info. I’ve had this plant for several years and this year it actually made the berries you mentioned.
    Wondering if they’re edible?

Wow, a unique looking plant, there are a lot of different Rhipsalis, I have only two varieties and love them. Loving this series, every one has been so full of lots of information, and has made me put a few of them on my wish list. Thanks again Summer.

I love Rhipsalis plants! I have six different ones, now.. and they seem to be easy, so far. Very cool plants. I have to say, I'm so impressed with how you remember and say the latin names for all plants. :)

I love Rhipsalis. I am surprised they don't come up as one of the easier houseplants to grow, because I never have problems with them.

This particular Rhipsalis is doing very well in my home, but it is covered pretty royally in some kind of nectar that dries into sugary crystals. Does anyone know what this is?

Please help! I have this plant and it has been doing so well for me in the past year, but it has suddenly started to drop its segments like crazy! It's so painful to watch! i have checked it for pests and have found none, but gave it a spray of neem oil mixture just in case. It gets moderate to bright indirect light and I guess average humidity for the northeast. I make sure not to over or underwater it, and it's sending out new growth still, it's just dropping so many segments. 😢
