- Rhipsalis pilocarpa is a type of jungle cactus with white hairy stems and is a favorite one of mine to grow in the home. It takes residence in my Northeastern window in my bathroom and have found it to be a most resilient plant. In the 32nd episode of the series, I'll take you through its natural history and much of its basic care tips.

such a small world...you came to Brisbane 2006 for Greenfest. I hope you are well and thanks for care tips on rhipsalis pilocarpa also my favourite
I’ve had one of these from a cutting for years. I put it in the sun because it looks like a regular sun living cactus. It flourishes when we have the days in a row with clouds and rain. Now I know why! I will be moving it to a more shadier place. Thank you Summer!
I have two Ripsalis , a Cereuscula, and a Elliptica, and I really love them, my Cereuscula is about 10 years old and loves where I have it and I don't dare move it. it was a tiny thing and now it is pretty good sized and in the summer puts on a ton of new growth. Thanks again Summer, loving this series.
i love this series, i am learning so much
Hello ma'am. I'm always watching your vedio...
Love that plant and love the macrame hanger too.
I love these!! I have a Hatiora salicorniodes, which used to be named as a rhipsalis. It was my very first plant and it blooms every April!
Thanks! Love all the amazing different rhipsalis plants!
I've have a friend who has pretty huge tarantula phobia. Whenever she's in town for a visit my pilocarpa & rabbit's foot ferns mysteriously seem to flourish! 😈🌿🕷
Probably from her hyperventilating! Lol
Love it!!! Keep doing what you do!!!
Very original cool🌱
One of my favorite cacti, thank you😊
That’s a beauty! I have a small one. Happy to hear your care tips! 😍🌱
Beautiful plant , I haven’t seen this one yet , thanks for showing this plant Summer.
My ripsalis pilocarpa got infected with mealybugs when I was stressing it in my south-west facing window during the summer, even though a tree did somewhat dapple the light... It's doing much better now that the autumn/winter sun is coming in at a less direct angle, but I will definitely move it towards the interior of my space before spring!
Thank you for the information 😊
What an interesting and unique plant! Never seen it, but it is near the top of my want list now. Maybe so "ugly" it's cute? I actually feel bad calling it ugly even in quotations. Haha ...Maybe, QUIRKY! :)
What a beauty she is!
My rhipsalis is growing in a south facing window, with a lot of direct light. It’s growing there for around 10 years or so. It’s around a metre long. I water it once it dries out and prune it once a year or so
Love the video ! I have one Ripsalis erecta, one of my first plants! Kisses from Brazil! 🇧🇷🥰😘🌻
Another great video! Soooo thankful it won't start "crawling on my arm". 😉
i love yr channel very much abd ig too, i subscribe and you tell us a lot knowledges and i dream to have house like yours full of plants, will keep watching , thanks
I like the Macrame holder it's in.
great!! just got one of these 3 days ago and couldn't find anything on it!
Thanku💗💗
Sheesh...hope I can find one to buy!
Love this content. I’ve just purchased a small pilocarpa and it’s immediately put out a long (25cm), delicate, hairless shoot growing straight up! What is it?! The shoot has now got roots half way up. I’ve only had it 4-5 weeks. Thanks from Australia.
Hey girl good info 🌵🌵🌼🌺🌵🌵😍😮🙊🙈
Had mind in too much sun- paused the video and moved it.
I've recently inherited a Rhipsalis pilocarpa, it's stems closest to the soil are purple-ish. Do you think it has a disease or maybe too much sun?
Would this plant do alright in just a north facing window?
I am somewhat new to plant care. You mention fertilizer types by their ratio but I see very few marked like this on their labels. Can you translate, or give me an idea of what to look for on the ingredient portion of the label to tell me what kind of food/fertilizer I'm looking at? Thanks!!
It's call NPK ratio and it's pretty straightforward😊 NPK stands for nitrogen, phosphorus & potassium. The number is simply the the percentage of each nutrient by volume in your given fertilizer. So a 10-10-10 would a "balanced fertilizer" & would consist of each that percentage of NPK. Worm castings are 1-0-0 containing just 1% of nitrogen. NPK numbers vary because not all plants have the same nutritional needs. A good quality organic cactus fertilizer for example typically has a NPK of 1-2-2 so you have to listen to Summer Rayne's video and research your plant's needs. Hope this helps & good luck! 🌱😊👍
You made this just in time for me to stop murdering mine 😭🙏
I have a big one of these (love it!) and want to trade some of it for something else but these is no plant swap events in my area ever. Anyone know if there an online plant swap community where you can ship plants?
Maybe offer them on Etsy, FB marketplace or OfferUp. I know I regularly go to craigslist.com and search "plant". Alternatively, you could organize your own plant swap!
I would trade, for sure, if I had valuable plants. Just have normal stuff for now. Where did you get yours, though? I want to keep an eye out for one!
There a shrub grows the same way as your plant. Looks like a weeping willows
Are rhipsalis pilocarpa fruits edible?
Northeast sun and regular water... No wonder mine is looking like shit! It's in a south facing window and i water it once a month.
Summer do you have a Patreon page? I am sure I am not the only one who would like to support your channel!
