Just so you know this is a fully custom prerunner build with a completely custom fabricated 4 link rear end and twin I beam suspension in the front. This is no normal Tacoma.
I've accidentally jumped my mostly stock 1st gen almost that much a couple times when trail riding, it felt awful in the cab when my head hit the roof but it handled it like a champ and didn't bend or break anything.
Jesus, I love it when people have good quality suspension on their trucks, they don't hop around they don't bounce around, they just land and stay planted
@@chezthegreatyeah the long travel suspension process is basically hacking the car apart and seeing what’ll work. Especially in builds where it’s never been done before
My stupid ass… i have went full send a few times in my jeep with suspension that is not made for flight….. well landing gear wasn’t adequate that’s for sure… I love Jeeps and Tacos
Sorry I have and did bigger jumps with my 91 22R standard off of a lake approach jump I had independent front suspension against my buddy in a 91 blazer well he kept up but had to fix 100% loss then he got a new ranger and said nope which was a good decision.
Well... I did already kind of do this to my 2nd gen with a spacer lift. My cousin also did it to his 2nd gen with a spacer lift. It isn't my daily, so it can get a little abused. There's no point in having a lifted truck if you're afraid to break it. Otherwise, it's just a pavement princess that might see a little mud once in a while. My tacoma sees no love, but it's still loyal to me like a dog who shows you love even though it gets hit with a shovel. 1st and 2nd gen tacomas are actually pretty impressive trucks. Of course, that's if you deal with the rust issue before it happens. My cousin got a whole new frame for his. I parked mine before I had it bad. I have other plans for that truck, and it involves what you just watched in the video.
When the nose of the rig is in the bottom of the jump the throttle should be off, and as the shocks are starting to rebound the weight off the front shocks, full throttle. This is how you avoid nose dives from the back axle being kicked up
Fullsend would be accelerating into the jump out of the front end to lift more and land even lie. The reason the truck landed way it did was because somebody pushed out and let off the throttle
Just needed to keep in the throttle to the floor off the lip, , let off second before impact.. Love the front end off the Ford Ranger and is fully caged with the built trailing arms.
Looks like a custom king 4 link suspension setup with bypass shocks in the rear, and a twin I beam suspension setup in the front. Basically… it’s custom, this is a custom prerunner truck, and cost thousand upon thousands of dollars in custom parts and fabrication. Don’t try this in any normal tacoma with a lift lol.
@@jvogler_art4708I would agree, appears to be a nice 4 link setup front and rear with the back link also being box frame with it's own coil. Even if the truck was built to take it, my back couldn't~ 🤦♂️ Still a nice setup IMO~
@@jvogler_art4708 that is an old Ford Ranger I beams, radius arms, front end, custom fabbed and made to fit and get front travel. For sure do not attempt in a Stock/ Rock crawler set up Tacoma. I wouldn't do this in a new Raptor either, especially to flat. You are getting punched by them airbags.
The hood is extremely heavy on the Taco lol probably why it wasn't a more flat launch 😉 Also the gearing sucked balls at 120kph always trying to switch gears on the slightest incline at hiway speed. Nice truck though that's for sure. Bring back the "mini truck" Gen 1 size
Fun fact: the reason it nosedives out of a jump so hard is the ramp geometry. Launch section needs to be straight, if it's curving upwards then front of the vehicle is in freefall but the rear is still subject to centripetal force, which makes the car rotate rapidly. Depending on the length of the jump, it can faceplant or flip entirely.
Tacoma with Ranger I beam front suspension can handle that and the rear is heavily modified to a 4 link. A stock tacoma would break in half is jumped like that.
It was a full send OK...you nearly sent your wheels through your bodywork when you landed ..you only had a inch or two of travel left in the shock ..maybe a bit too soft..?😂
Shouldn't be toooooo expensive, Just buy an old Ranger, chop out the suspension and welded to the Tacoma's frame with long travel shocks. Although it would be a clapped F150/250 for your Tundra lol
I'm bout to go fuck my credit up. Need all this in my garage

If it went slightly slower off the ramp, you'd be able to correct it by flooring it.
