Su's vocals is so awesome in this more powerful, aggressive.... I love the Japanese Kabuki theater feel of the song, with Momoko doing that narration bit in the middle....I'm all smiles.... Especially after that very confusing collab of Lil Uzi Vert.... Metali makes everything right in the Babymetal world.... Can't help headbanging all through this song.... it's a celebratory rock show song and performance that is supposed to involve everybody, the title "Metali" sounds like a pun intended words of metal and matsuri which is typical Japanese festival, they also use it in PA PA YA!

The title is a synthesized word from two words : "Metal" and "Matsuri 祭 (festival)" → Metali. I witnessed the world premiere (live debut) on Aug.16. At the venue, this song followed after the Kami's instrumental. Oh My Buddha! 😍 I got hyped like an idiot in the simplicity of this song and Momoko's solo speaking part with Kabuki style in the middle gives an amazing accent in the repetitiveness. The repetitive わっしょい "Wasshoi" is a call or yell used in Japanese Matsuri (festival). It is a kind of phrase to intensify people's excitement and especially to encourage the power of guys who are carrying a heavy Mikoshi that is similar to a float in the festival.

I just saw a video from someone in the audience and when they performed it, it was so good. You have the intro solos for the band and then the song. Su, then, told everyone to sit down and guess what the crowd did? They all sat down. Only Su can do this with a crowd. But, they sat down before Momo's part and it sounded like the track. Where the pause is before Tom Morello, Momo asked "Are you ready?" in a sumo-like stance, but she screamed it. A FULL. METAL. SCREAM. I am so proud of her.
I love seeing their playfulness in this video. And seeing Momo with a little solo part. I love her dancing and expressions.

I can tell from the MV, from the lyrics, the choreography, and the song title, that the song is inspired by Japanese festivals ('O-matsuri', especially summer festivals, I guess). For examples, calling 'Wasshoi', or 'Soore, sore sore'.
The various masked dancers in the MV, have all fun masks seen at traditional Japanese festivals, such as called, 'Hyottoko', and of course Kitsune (it has others, like called 'Okame' or something, but we don't see them here). But in the MV you also see some slightly creepy moves by them. It shows Metal, I guess. Also, at the beginning, BM performs on a tatami (zashiki) stage with their shoes, kicks the small tables away with their feet, and their metal hands are breaking through 'shoji' screens, which are all actually terrible behaviors. But it's a festival, so it ends up 'can't help', haha.

I have to admit that I wan’t sure the first time listening but having viewed the MV the joy and chaos was too infectious and now I have it on high rotation. I’m so happy that the fun is back. I loved the entire Other One album and appreciate its somber but hopeful feel but the utter joy of this song is brilliant to have back. This would be immense live and I can’t wait to hear the band go nuts on this one. The happy metal is back!

It was the same with megitsune, when a song has a lot of Japanese culture in it, it is difficult to explain. Read only if you are interested, as the content may be a little removed from the song itself.
METALI is a word that adds METAL and 祭り(Matsuri=festival). And this song is a representation of a Japanese 夏祭り(Natsu Matsuri=summer festival). For us Japanese, these sound and lyrics make our Matsuri blood boil. Matsuri is the heart of the Japanese people. It is said that there are a total of 300,000 festivals in Japan, both large and small. Matsuri means a ritual for worshiping Gods or Buddha, or an event held in gratitude towards nature. 神輿(Mikoshi=portable shrine) is a carriage for Gods. In the festival, Japanese people get around the Mikoshi and carry it on their shoulders in order to worship Gods. While carrying the Mikoshi, the carriers will yell "Wasshoi, Wasshoi" or "Soiya, Soiya" or "Sore, Sore".(However, the calls vary considerably from region to region.)
神輿(Mikoshi=portable shrine) and お囃子(Ohayashi=festival music) of Matsuri have a history of more than 1,000 years and are etched in the DNA of the Japanese people.
赤子(akago) is baby, 金属(kinzoku) is metal.
The instrument used in the intro is the 三味線(shamisen), a three-line string instrument.
"Pii hyara" in the lyrics is the sound of a 篠笛(Shino bue=transverse flute) used at Matsuri.
"Dokkoisho" is the voice used when lifting heavy objects. The choreography when saying "dokkoisho" is the pose of carrying a heavy object on the shoulder.
The choreography when saying "Wasshoi" is a pose for carrying a Mikoshi(portable shrine).

This song slapped so fucking hard live, I kinda wasn't into it the first time I heard it, because I'm not into the "traditional oriental instrument" thing in general, but holy fuck the arena popped off.
They fucking tore the house down with this and there were more bodies marking out than I could count, and it's crazy to me that the lamest part of a modern Babymetal song in 2023 was Tom Morello jamming like a dork. Like he gets a pass, but the girls and the dance moves just absolutely melting everyone's face with this one, and the dancing is top tier.
You should react to some HANABIE. - be the GAL or Tousou, Highly recommended they are so brutal!, if you like babymetal you will love HANABIE.
