Oh I love this painting. So fresh and your color pallet is amazing! Im inspired to get,out and try some painting soon! I usually only paint inside! Thanks!
Just watched this yet again Clare, super painting and video! Hang on a sec, I feel a song coming on - 'Mrs Bowen you've got a lovely daughter...' hahaha, except it wouldn't have been Mrs Bowen..... Keep'em coming please :)
Hello Clare, excellent painting I See your Demos every day and I would like they will be 1hour long, I´m learning to paint and your demos help me so much. Please try to make them longer. Thanks for share, a hug! grettings from Colombia!!!
Wow Clare another wonderful painting, yes the hay stakes were of very good colour match, I liked the depth of the tree trunks as this showed through amazing, love it best wishes Ken and Christine xxx
Hello my name is Carlos, I am from Brazil in the state of São Paulo, and I am following your art ... fascinated. I am a beginner I don't have much time to paint but when I can,I enjoy it well. I love your paintings and your suitcase is formidable. You pass some product on Mdf before you start! It was a pleasure to write to you...Hugs.
Another great video: thank you for all the efforts in front and behind the scenes! Filming on location is an additional challenge to plein air painting. Loli
Nice transitional tonal values ... Especially like background tree, hills and sky area brings great depth to painting ... Also really like how you show the process of first blocking in darks which is so important... Seems like the weather is ideal for plein air! Hello from cape cod usa
What a beautiful view to paint. The detail and colours in the hay stacks was amazing to see. Just don't realise how complex it is. Stunning composition too, well done ff ❤️🤗 (The music was lovely too)
Really enjoyed this Claire...have watched a couple of your videos now...really appreciate the annotation with colours ...as someone who is learning about colour mixing and sculpting a scene this was really helpful. I often like talking but the music worked really well with this one. Is that the open box M you showed in another vid...do you have you paints in a tray inserted into the box?
Hi Darren, I’m pleased these videos are helping you with your painting journey! 🎨it is my open box m 11x14” pochade. Plus the paint try is called a palette garage from The Great Art Tools website in the USA. Hope this helps, best wishes Clare
@@ClareBowenArtist Thanks a lot! So , no lindseed oil only a solvant perhaps at the beginning only (?) and after (fat over lean) pure oil painting alla prima ? I come from acrylic painting , and I'd like to change for water mixable oil where "solvant"=water ;-)
Hi Louise, Lots of factors go into what colour the shadow is. As there's reflected light and sometimes complimentary colour comes in - purple. I remember there was a warm orangey glow in there. I dont try and have a formula before I paint, I just really observe and also go with instinct. I hope this helps? Best wishes, Clare
What a pleasant video - lovely painting and love your music. Those subtitles on your colors must have been a lot of work to add. Your approach is very different from mine, which is always interesting to see a different approach. Please take a look at my videos if you’d like to see my plein air approach and to see some scenes from the Pacific Northwest in the US. Cheers, or maybe merci!
Hi Jon, thanks so much for watching my videos, I’m pleased you like them! I had a look at your channel it looks great, what a beautiful part of the America you live in! I like your tips video and those beautiful sea stacks! best wishes, Clare 🎨👩🏻🎨
@@ClareBowenArtist hi Clare, thank you. I appreciate art and music and of course I watch your videos because I like your paintings. I am an (ignored) artist myself from Argentina.
😡Clare Could you explain why you would share a Link to a Company that do not supply goods that get ordered. Website very quick to take your money but do not send goods and are not contactable. disappointing that you promote and share links for a Company that don't deliver the products your describing . I Order only because I trusted you.I only share this comment so this does not happen to anyone else who may want to order Open BoxM Products
Hi Wulan I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had trouble with the Open Box m company. I shared the video because people always ask me what I use as my plein air pochade. They didn’t endorse the video probably don’t even know about it. It’s such a shame you’ve had trouble ordering. I really hope it sorts out for you. I am in no way connected to OBM I just use their pochades to paint. Sending best wishes, Clare
Well dear lady.... I must suggest you know what you are painting before you paint it in this easy case. You painted Hay BALES ! They are wound up together with twine so they don't come lose from themselves. Stacks are just piles of lose straw/hay. This from an old farmer.
You did such a lovely job!
Thank you!❣️
Oh I love this painting. So fresh and your color pallet is amazing! Im inspired to get,out and try some painting soon! I usually only paint inside! Thanks!
Thank you Joanne! To paint en plein air is quite challenging but go for it!🎨👩🏻🎨❤️

Thank you Nancy - the blocking in the darks really helped me when I first learnt this. It’s getting the tonal shapes and design right too!

Thank you poppit, it is complex, a lot of thinking process! But so pleased you enjoyed it and the music 🎶 x
Hi Claire would you be so kind to tell me what brand of oil paint you use please ? Great work.
Hi Boris thank you. I use Winsor & Newton, Michael Harding & Jackson Art professional oil paint. Hope this is helpful 😊🎨
Yes thank you so much 😊

Lovely again Clare..is that a textured board you’re painting on ..have you primed it ?
No it’s an mdf board with 3 coats of acrylic primer. (No linen top) thanks 😊
Hi! Great painting !! Could you state where abouts exactly in the south west of France?
Thank you! near Saint Beauzeil 😊
Superb colors and "un sacré coup de pinceau" ! Do you use some medium? Thank you
Yes I do! The name is Gamsol, I use it because it is odourless!🎨👩🏻🎨

Thanks for your video. You inspired me a lot. One question for you: how did you prepare your vanvas / board? It looks very smooth.
Thank you Yvonne, it’s an mdf wooden board. With acrylic gesso 3 coats. Hope that helps 😊
@@ClareBowenArtist thank you so much for your response. I will try the same. All the best!
How do you know that the hay bale shadows are warm? Is it because it’s the afternoon, and I thought so, what about the tree shadows too?

Could I get same results using Water based Oils ???
Yes you could, probably acrylics too. 🙌🎨
Hi Clare you make it look so simple, but it isn't
Ha thanks Jeff appreciate that! 🎨👩🎨
