    I tried this tutorial: THANK YOU! I did not like painting lavender fields because the colors are really challenging. Your demo was extremely helpful; it took me a lot of time, but I like now my other 2 lavender field paintings, one I just did en plein air in the South of France (at a workshop at Le Vieux Couvent, Frayssenet). You should teach there too! Loli 🙂

    Good morning fellow artists, and Nick, of course.
    Clare, your paint garage looks remarkably 'fresh' and stacked up neatly. Any chance that, one day Nick could give us a really close up shot of it. I am particularly interested to see if it has partitions, along its length.
    Given that art tools are unresponsive, I have it in mind to improvise and utilise a fishing float tube that I have to hand........
    Enough of that. I have my cup of Pue ehr tea to hand, Let the Painting Begin!

    • @ClareBowenArtist
      @ClareBowenArtist  2 роки тому

      Morning Anthony, On the next video I will get Nick to do a close up of my Palette Garage. Although there isn't much to see as it's an L shaped piece of plastic with no partitions. With all the paint in their being 'cheek by jowl' it keeps it neat, I recharge it everyday as well. Let me know how you get on with your fishing float tube :-) Thank you for watching, and best wishes, Clare

It occurred to me, when your were chasing the shade, umberella came to mind And Nick probably has a 'Spare' hand........
      Of course I will let you know how the improvisation pans out! Pun not intended.
      Kind regards
      Anthony

    Just discovered your channel. 😊
    Edit: I asked a question that now doesnt matter because I see you're using oils so my question issue would easily fixable.
    But..
    1. Is that a wet pallate you're using?
    2. Its the moving shadows i really struggle with, honestly. If i forget how it was and make bits up i worry it wont be the same. How did you overcome that?
    Its truly interesting to see your process, I have adhd and i literally have been enthralled watching the whole thing. Usually I would skip throuh to see the progress but this was so *interesting*.
    I work with acrylics because i manage to get oils everywhere it shouldnt get and i worry id get thumb prints on my commissions.
    Thank you for this wonderful video.

      Question 1: Don’t understand the question! The palette is full of wet paint.🎨😀
      Question 2: Just before I begin, I take a photograph and then put the shadows in quickly because as you say they are fleeting. I can always refer to the photo if I need reassurance!👩🏻‍🎨❤️

    • @Foxglove963
      @Foxglove963 2 роки тому +1

      Yep, now there's non-odour turp, however this remains unhealthy. Actually, many paints and chemicals used by artists are not without risk. Know the risks and don't be a coward, be an artist.

    • @ClareBowenArtist
      @ClareBowenArtist  2 роки тому

      Hi Richard thanks for your comment and thoughts. Good question! I used to use Sansodour low odour turps but it’s watery and turps seems thicker and more like thinned oil paint. I do like underpainting so not sure it would be as good. But I am finding the smell strong!! Will have to do some research I think. What do you use? Best wishes, Clare

    • @rikardogibola1312
      @rikardogibola1312 2 роки тому +1

      @@ClareBowenArtist Clare - Sansodour was my first choice because I thought that was the way to go. After a while, I noticed artists, like yourself were using turps so I bought a bottle out of curiosity. Having used it, I am aware of the strong smell, although I do not find it unpleasant but I can't honestly say I find any difference in use. But what do I know.

    Very nice, one feedback, for example at 8:10 and prior....if the camera could be in closer to your canvas...the canvas is small and the zoom is far- it's difficult to see the brushwork and canvas from a distance....something to keep in mind....as a viewer who watches many painters- watching the painters brushstrokes or just even what's being done on the canvas is what's captivating and for those wanting to learn essential to see ....maybe zoom in a bit...or stand closer....thank you- it's not easy standing there with camera in hand...perhaps because your a plein air painters- the cameraman can have a tripod for his camera allowing him to zoom and manipulative panning around....capturing various views....keeping in mind viewers like to see the canvas....
    12:24 is a wonderful view....I just couldn't get the placement (perspective) while you blocked in the rows....because the canvas is quite small....and again camera was at a distance while you blocked in...
    I still can't get the perspective...I understand this is not a lesson ..
    The subject matter- because of the perspective of the rows is difficult for beginners....
    See at 12:41 the camera zooms out....really far for viewers to see the canvas....maybe viewing on bigsreen is better I don't have this option.....thanks for bringing us along....looking forward to your journey....and first time to see that palette garage....its wonderful thing to have....maybe post a short video on your supplies and do affiliate links....I know subscribers who follow painters channels always wants to know what kind of brushes and brand of oils and so on....the palette garage is possibly a good affiliate link for you...many in the comments seem to have ordered one...I did....really great idea...something so simple....
    12:56 is a good position for the camera....again- having a tripod would be helpful for cameraman....

    Enjoy your videos. Cringed when you kept building the distant hill higher and higher. You have made the hill the same size as your field. Should be cut down in half to make it look in the distance. also it is vying for attention as your center of interest.

      Hi Karen, so pleased you enjoy my videos. But I’m sorry you found this lavender video difficult. I hear what your saying with the background hills. I did reduce them down but I agree they are still too high. It’s sometimes hard to ‘see’ it when your out en plein air. (Also doing the filming at the same time!) but I do appreciate your feedback. Best wishes, Clare
