After a couple of months I first saw your video about how you "fake yourself in" to I Prevail, a guy called me to play in his band. He wanted me to play jazz-rock - a style I hadn't really been played before. But I remembered your video and said "Sure, I can play it" and started to check how to play that kind of stuff and practiced as much as I had never been practiced before. We've made two records since than and now I am preparing for the third- it's so cool. I am sure I didn't dare to try it without your video. Thank you, Gabe! :)

I remember trying out for my Church's young adult worship team this last summer and they required us to list experience. Well, I had never played an actual song on the drums but had played on a drum-set for a piece in concert band one time, so I put that I had "played on a drum-set in front of hundreds of people." I submitted my audition videos after a billion attempts until I was finally okay with them, sent them to the person, then worked for hours a day for the next 3- to 4-months on the drums. I started watching your videos to help slowly fix the things I was doing wrong. To my utter surprise, I got an email in November congratulating me on making the worship team and requesting me to play for the opener of my Church's most anticipated series of the year without a single full-band rehearsal day between when I got that email and the weekend of the opener. The day of the performance we had a short rehearsal time, and I was very shaky during it, but all of a sudden when it was go-time, I nailed the entire set, even when I dropped a stick once in the middle of a song I didn't miss a note. Now I am very confident behind the kit and instead of looking like nervous Nelly like I did my first performance, I now am rocking out with the rest of the band. Now, almost 6-months later, we are working out possibly releasing our first album. I never thought my self-taught drumming would get me this far so fast. I am hoping to join the DBO Academy or get lessons soon, because who knows, maybe I can make a career out of this like you did. From one Gabe to another: Thanks man, you're awesome.

I like how the style the past few years has been to strip drum sets down into two or three toms, often with a woody texture, into a simple setup with some clean cymbals.
This style is more about cymbal variants rather than toms.
Its been at least fifty Time that i watch this vids. Every Time im more impressed

Your talent and tips, the work ethic and much deserved success, along with you just coming across as a pretty stand up and genuinely nice dude in general have been super inspiring And helpful. I like watching these modern day big band worship teams like this... dudes wearing a cut off and spinning sticks all around while hitting metal beats and break downs... praise and worship is now just a show for most modern bands/teams. This generation is based on emotion due to this and their strength is based off how they feel...
