My soul needed a recharge while at home. This is how I did it this week.

- Cabin fever set in so I took matters into my own hands and enjoyed some cozy moments at home after I picked up a few thrifted and consignment items. I thought I would share how the home decor and kitchen items I picked up will be used in our antique New England home and how I lifted my mood with flowers, comfort food, decorating, and a little fresh air.

The joys and sorrows of living on a dirt road. The joy, Less traffic because people don’t want to get their cars dirty, the sorrow, a constantly dirty car.

I redid my kitchen about six years ago. I live in a Bucks County stone farm house. I'm looking at your kitchen and noticing several elements that I chose; the crome farmer sink faucet, the black knobs on the cabinets, the open glass doors. And the black latches on the doors bedind you were already here. Classic and beautiful!! 😊

You could line the inside of the basket with a matching tulle to keep out the pests?? Our local tulip farm will be ready to pick in about 2 weeks....can't wait to gather some to arrange in a vase to bring spring into my house as well!
My husband and I did the same thing in our uptown city condo, very modern light gray/ white . To make our city home more cosy was to introduce light warm wood floors throughout and decorative items that are both beautiful and functional . Our ceilingd are ten feet with floor to ceiling windows, beautiful light but a bit exposed so creamy/ white linen drapes on black simple rods did the trick along with white wooden blinds for complete privacy.
Our Lake Home is painted with Benjamin Moore midtone colour Danville Tan with all the trim and doors Cloud White, definitely a warmer colour scheme but it's beautiful against the evergreens and the lake.
Everything you and your husband have done looks lovely and looks very much at home with our outdoor surroundings!!!😊

What a lovely video, Linda you are so inventive, the narrow basket is an unusual shape but looks perfect on the door of The Butlers Pantry. You have had a tremendous amount of snow, I suspect you are so looking forward to seeing your garden again & watching the spring return outside. I think your barn will look just gorgeous in the lovely NE Red colour when painted, I love those NE barns & the wreath will set it off a treat. I just love your home and the colors. The green of the tulips against the black countertops is gorgeous. Stew is a fam fav as well. The curtains are so gorgeous. Bed Bath & Beyond is closing here in Canada as well.

I was given an identical set of wicker cups and tray in 1978 as a thank-you gift for house-sitting at a friend's home. Loved them. A little jealous now that I don't still have them. (downsized)
Hi. Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Only I think that those " pestles" could be antique moulds for makung individual raised pork pies. These days people just mould the hot water pastry around a glass jar. ⚘

I love buying functional antiques! I still use my vintage pastry cutter.. your wooden muddlers are often used for making saukraut I think.. I use one for homemade fermented saukraut! Love it
Well, I just lost my comnent, so if if shows up somewhere else, I apologize. I was telling you that shortly after I was married I purchased a wicker tray along with tall and short glasses and matching pitcher. They are exactly what you have there except the pitcher that came with my set had wicker on it. It could be washed by hand but was kind of a pain. The set sat on top of my fridge because it was the only place I had in my small apartment. And it rattled! I believe I purchase them at Pier 1. That had to have been in the late seventies. When it comes to drooping roses or tulips, if you pierce the stem just under the head with a hat pin all the way through it will keep them from flopping over. Although I do like the Tulips that way the Rose heads don't look very attractive if they don't open and just hang there. Those draperies are beautiful and are a real find! I don't even know what to say I loved everything that you bought. The basket is so cute hanging on the door. I love the look of the rolling pin. Yep- that was a great trip out for bread! I'm so sorry you've lost some of your trees. With the high winds yesterday some of the big branches on our White Pines have snapped off and it's not the first time this winter that that's happened. My crocuses are blooming and my tulips and daffodils are up out of the ground along with my day lilies and some of my hostas have broken through the ground. I'm hoping that here in northwest Ohio we don't get any crazy freezes like last year since it is still early here. I don't envy you the job of the cleanup or the fact that you've lost trees and shrubs that you love. I can't wait to see what you do outside, but I know that it will be beautiful! I know that you are a great planner and it will be inspiring. Thanks for sharing and lifting my spirits this evening. As always, I look forward to your projects.

The wicker purchases are outstanding finds! The basket looks made for the door, but I bet it will look even bette without the cloth liner (just stick it down to the bottom). Everything you bought are great finds!

Wood and wicker are a must in my kitchen, to make it feel homey. Also a little lamp on the counter . I had to laugh with the note that Ben left a glass with an orange straw out... not one viewer would have even noticed if you hadn't brought it to our attention, We were all focused on the lovely bread and gorgeous finds. I have one of those door baskets on my kitchen door and decorate it seasonally. RIght now its filled with faux vegetables... artichokes, onions, garlic, bundles of long pea pods and carrots.

I would put those window panels in the green room. The plaid seems too "busy"! 👍
The plaid are certainly going. I left them up until I painted the room since the last owner painted around them and the walls were white before.

I have my grandmothers rolling pin it big.I have 6 of hers.There 100 years old they were her mother she got them .She showed me how to make home made biscuits now I have them.
Yes it's one of the downfalls of winter blasts. We don't have much of that here in Texas, but boy when an ice storm comes through, we know we're going to lose a tree or some limbs.
