I wonder if LEGO could be trying to get more price diversity in the UCS line. People may have had sticker shock from the AT-AT so they might be trying to make sets that could be for people who want to get into UCS but don't want to, or can't, spend upwards of $800. In my early 40s and got back into LEGO at beginning of lockdown. This is my first UCS set I’ve bought after buying many of the cheaper Star Wars sets and in particular 18+ sets and so excited by it ☺️
Wow, as a kid who saw the original trilogy in theaters, this set really appeals to me. That vehicle captured our imaginations back then. This kit looks amazing completed! Thanks for your reviews.

Really pay attention when building the AT-AT. Had to take apart the front left and rear right leg because of one small error at the very beginning of each. 😅 but it looks beautiful. Also, mind the head. One bump and the sides wanna pop off.
Got it today and while my expectations were low for this I was actually quite pleased with it. The build is enjoyable and quite sturdy. The color scheme definitely helps it stand out too. I'm not sure if this would have been high up on my ships to Ucs list but I'm very happy with this anyways.
I"m 52 yrs old. My wife just got me this set and the R2D2 set for Christmas. Let me just say I absolutpy.love it. It takes me back to the first time seeing Episode 4. So from an older collector, this has a nostaligic feel for me.

As someone who was born when A new hope came out, I saw it as a kid and loved it. I will get this set as I've only recently started collecting lego, so I've missed out on all the play scale land speeders.
Good and fair review. As an older Lego collector who saw the original Star Wars in the cinema back in 1977, this set is a definite purchase for me. As usual, it's disappointing to see no printed parts on a premium set, and it would have been good to see some discrete removable wheels for a bit of added play value (although that'll be an easy mod). I'll pick it up while the bonus build is on offer.
I went to my Lego store in Southampton UK on May 1st and the queue was massive and I'd argue half the people in the queue in front or behind me had a Luke's Landspeeder. The rest had at least one diaroma set. Me I had the light cruiser and dark trooper attack. I know on youtube there has been a lot of puzzlement/criticism regarding it's release and that nobody asked for it. Actually I think there is a place where it was asked for and that was in the Lego product survey website. I think this was a set requested by the "silent majority" and probably in my age range too, I am 50 years old and saw Star Wars in the 70's in the cinema when I was 7. Luke's Landspeeder is iconic it's like your first car too. So on May 4th I returned to the Lego store and bought my first UCS set ever.
I'm glad we finally got one because it's a fantastic build *and* opens up a slot for a different UCS set in the future. No more worrying when they'll do Luke's Landspeeder.
I actually really like this UCS and am saving up for it. Its sleek, colorful, and its from A New Hope which is maybe my favorite Star Wars film. And if anyone from Lego sees this... a Nebulon B Frigate would look very nice on display...
Honestly not sure why anyone's surprised; this was the most iconic Star Wars vehicle that didn't have a UCS set until just now. I'm honestly surprised they took so long before making this one.
While I’m ok with this set and it does look cool, I genuinely think that the LEGO designers can’t tell sarcasm and just thought all those memes were actually requesting this
Everyone thinks it makes sense to be in a UCS version. Everyone things it looks good. People just don’t like how it was chosen to come out on this year instead of an AOTC set since it’s the 20th anniversary. If they put it out next year people would of loved it fully.
It WAS the first private vehicle shown in the first movie, if i remember right, its been a min since i saw it. And yes, i saw STAR WARS in theaters when originally released.
You mentioned its the best c3po we've ever gotten. I have to say the polybag one from a couple years bag had all the same printing, mostly, however it didnt have the dual molded leg. I stand by that that c3po is one of the best out there.
Idk why Lego fans keep joking about how this set shouldn't exist. I've always said the landspeeder is my favorite vehicle in all of Star Wars. If I could take home one vehicle from the whole saga, it would be the one I can comfortably drive to work and actually park in my driveway. It's practical.
I'm definitely an older LEGO SW fan. I hate social media. I saw the original trilogy in the theaters (I saw Episode IV more than 20 times). I bought the first LEGO SW sets when they were released in 1999 and I've bought every set since. The landspeeder is not as exciting as some ships, but it's long overdue. I've been excited since Aaron Fiskum's Ideas model received 10,000 votes in 2017. The LEGO model is not as good, but it's very nice and it's also not a $350, $500 or $800 set. The $200 price-point is pretty close to perfect. I'm excited to get my copy (or two).
I think it looks fantastic and I’m excited to build it. (Those colors! 🥵) Yes, I want prequel or sequel UCS sets but that doesn’t negate the fact this set is well done. 🙌🏻
I want the next UCS set to be an Obi wan and animal Jedi Star-fighter! It could be a $200 duo UCS set! That is my dream UCS set, I would love to see it happen designers!
Not the most exciting set ever but very, very well done. Do I wish it was a Jedi interceptor or something like a venator yeah but still cool to see how far Lego Star Wars has come.
Hey Lego, if you’re watching here’s a list of UCS sets I’m sure everyone would appreciate (in no particular order) 1) UCS clone turbo tank 2) UCS MTT 3) UCS AT-TE 4) UCS Venator 5) UCS arc-170 Starfighter 6) MBS mustifar 7) MBS dexters diner, Geonosis area. That’s just a few
the Lego co. does not give a damn about what consumers want, we want clones wars stuff, captain rex, jessie, fives, iconic characters and scenes.....all we get instead is another luke's land speeder and tie fighter. Also Lego said they don't want "exclusive minifigures" in expensive sets, so that c-3po should in theory pop up again.
This is my first Star Wars set and I picked it up on May 1st after seeing it in the Lego store, it really does look amazing and the build is right up my street, bricks and plates as opposed to endless technic pins and connectors. It’s also absolutely rock solid feeling. I might just have got the bug as I also just went and got the UCS millennium falcon. 🤭
Brushstroke Feel like I’m at the top of a very slippery slope 😂😂 Id quite like to get the Imperial star destroyer before it retires this year but I can’t really justify another £600 now, so will see if any new UCS sets come out this year. Also want to get the creator expert Camaro that’s due out.
I like it because it's not the $800 or even $350 price point, I like all the May the 4th bonuses, I like the C-3PO and the windscreen, It's not a bad choice for a classic Star Wars set or a first time UCS buy, and most importantly it's very reminiscent of my dad's original Landspeeder toy
Who do Lego cater for - the young vocal minority (IMO) on the internet, or the less vocal majority. Most You Tubers are youngish and tend to favour prequel sets, but most of my Lego friend are older, prefer the original trilogy and have a significant amount of disposable income that they want to spend on Lego - its a no brainer for me Lego are not stupid they are going to make what they think will sell I can also imagine the experience from last year may put them off trying to satisfy the internet fans. They made a gunship and all that was talked about was the mini figure selection!!
Would love to see UCS slave 1 again, partly because I missed the first one, but it would also be good to get one with the improved red/brown colour bricks.
This was my first LEGO UCS set. I was so satisfied at the end, but after realizing there were so many other sets that were better, I just felt so depressed. Still, it's absolutely gorgeous when its your first UCS set.
I gotta say the Luke Skywalker UCS landspeeder is looking pretty cool. That’s mostly because I love graphic design and I think they nailed it with this one, just cause it looks like the movie version. But over all. I like this one.
They’ve done AT-ST, AT-AT, Millennium Falcon (twice), B-Wing, X-Wing (twice), Slave I, Snow Speeder (twice), Tantive IV, Star Destroyer (twice), Super Star Destroyer, Death Star, Death Star II, Y-Wing (twice), TIE, TIE Advanced, TIE Interceptor, Imperial Shuttle, Naboo Fighter, Jedi Starfighter, A-Wing, Sandcrawler, Republic Gunship, and now Landspeeder. Plus a bunch of other things, like droids and busts. And some sets not labeled as UCS but in a unilateral scale and level of detail, like the CCBS scout trooper & speeder bike, and the technic Hailfire Droid. I honestly have trouble coming up with other things that would work at a UCS scale. I mean, I’d love a Mon Calamari cruiser or Nebulon B frigate, but both are really curvy and lumpy and a difficult Lego build. Likewise, the smooth curves and (lack of) chrome finish would probably make a UCS Naboo Starship pretty disappointing. And once you get outside of the movies, I feel like the number of buyers drops down significantly. But maybe I’m wrong-it’s not like I have their sales numbers or anything.
I want any prequel set. Just please have Lego not be stupid and say minifigures don’t matter. Do a good prequel set with good mini Gifu res and everyone would love it.
I like this set and I have ordered it, Although its a Star Wars set, I actually see it more as an iconic movie vehicle to sit on a shelf with the DeLorean, Batmobile, Ecto 1 etc as the sci fi parking lot rather than displaying it with other Star Wars vehicles
I think a USC Slave 1 remake was the best set they could have made for May the 4th. It's been highly desired since Boba Fett returned in the Mandalorian, and now coming off of The Book of Boba Fett, really seemed like a no-brainer to me.
Nice review David! Didn't really like the set it at first, but it is really growing on me a lot! I'm hoping we'll get a UCS Venator for the 20th anniversary of AOTC.
I personally thought the set was kinda lame at first, but then I got it and I actually really like it. For me its kind of reminiscent of the big model cars I used to play with as a kid. It's just a cool looking hotrod.
I'm of that generation that saw New Hope the year it came out and that Christmas I got Keener Landspeeder toy. Play with for years so this Lego set holds meaning for me. I get why they made it, but I'm more sets from the other movies will happen more often going forward.
I saw ANH back in the theater in 1977, so after that intro, I feel like a bit of a dinosaur :). After watching this review, I must admit I am sort of sold on this, just seeing a real hands on look helped me get a better idea of what to expect. Agreed that it would be cool to get a few Prequel UCS sets also, but this set seems decent to me. It is nice as well to get a UCS set that doesn't blow out your bank account, and that you might actually have shelf space to display it.
Yep, Seeing the original back in 77 was so very cool. I bought the UCS star destroyer a few months ago. Just for the fact that is what got me hooked in the opening scene of the movie. Yes it is expensive, but it is cool to look at and it takes up lots of room. The speeder will be much easier to display
UCS suggestions.. Nebulon b frigate Venator Death Star II remake Super star destroyer remake AT-TE w/ dropship Hammerhead frigate Just to name a few. And definitely get rid of stickers especially for UCS sets.
LEGO if you’re reading I would do anything for a UCS Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor from Revenge of the Sith! Would be my dream set especially if it included an exclusive Anakin minifig with arm and leg printing!
If people are complaining about the landspeeder instead of a prequel set just remember that now that is out of the way it's more lightly to be prequel sets in the future and some of us love the original trilogy and the prequels 🙂 and I also agree no stickers on UCS ! Come on Lego !
tbf it would never be a prequel set this year, I think that's how it should be and Luke land's speeder is a classic next year though, there should be a prequel ucs set again
Having an original colour scheme is a big part of the appeal for me. A break from all grey/white as you said. Other OT possibilities? Red cloud car? Maybe a UCS set of Cloud City itself could have good creative potential? Scale it smaller than the Death Star. Larger than Architecture line, but use the clever techniques for details that they often do. I'm wondering what people's top choice for a colourful or rare coloured prequel UCS set would be? I have so many grey pieces already! I got the Landrover Defender in large part for the rare green. I'm sort of in between the OT and PT eras and I feel like this is cool in part because of that nostalgia. It's part of the very first intro to start wars for so many, and you see it a lot in the making of documentaries and extras on the various tapes and disc releases over the years. Might spring for it.... The kitchen is pretty neat.
Why do some afols think that nobody but boomers want this set. The past few ucs sets have been nothin but home runs and smaller sets are getting more unique and exclusive figs. the prequals will get their respective sets just as much as the OT. You may not realize it, but lego is a childrens block toy, there is no need to bash a company everytime they dont meet your 30 yr old expectations
Overall it looks pretty good. I think that these UCS sets should not have stickers but should be printed. Also the steering wheel seems tacky

100% should be printed, but I see why they don't do that.
I think they shouldn't be printed because if you're buying a huge amount of parts I would want to be able to use multiple for custom builds
I agree. If the modular sets can go stickerless, then so can UCS sets.
Imagine a ucs naboo royal starship. Doubt it'd ever happen, but imagine.
That’d be cool, but I’d more sooner like a redone N-1 starfighter, with exclusive true chrome pieces just for it!

I honestly I think it looks really good!
Definitely a day one pick up for me!
Not the most exciting set ever but very, very well done. Do I wish it was a Jedi interceptor or something like a venator yeah but still cool to see how far Lego Star Wars has come.
It is a pleasing set to look at. I just wasn’t expecting it to be a vehicle that would be made into a UCS set.
I'm with you, the colors alone have me excited to buy this. Looks very eye pleasing.
Hey Lego, if you’re watching here’s a list of UCS sets I’m sure everyone would appreciate (in no particular order)
1) UCS clone turbo tank
2) UCS MTT
3) UCS AT-TE
4) UCS Venator
5) UCS arc-170 Starfighter
6) MBS mustifar
7) MBS dexters diner, Geonosis area.
Nice, enjoy the new rabbit hole to go down!
Thanks for acknowledging that we all want pre-qual sets haha😄
I like it because it's not the $800 or even $350 price point, I like all the May the 4th bonuses, I like the C-3PO and the windscreen, It's not a bad choice for a classic Star Wars set or a first time UCS buy, and most importantly it's very reminiscent of my dad's original Landspeeder toy
Just grabbed one for 145 and I'm pretty excited to build it. My 1st ucs and biggest set I've done yet.
Oh its beautiful!
Who do Lego cater for - the young vocal minority (IMO) on the internet, or the less vocal majority. Most You Tubers are youngish and tend to favour prequel sets, but most of my Lego friend are older, prefer the original trilogy and have a significant amount of disposable income that they want to spend on Lego - its a no brainer for me
Lego are not stupid they are going to make what they think will sell
I can also imagine the experience from last year may put them off trying to satisfy the internet fans. They made a gunship and all that was talked about was the mini figure selection!!
Would love to see UCS slave 1 again, partly because I missed the first one, but it would also be good to get one with the improved red/brown colour bricks.
I’d rather see jango fetts slave one, since we already have a perfect looking ucs boba fett slave one.
@@BeatsbyYuka yeah either or, I’m not fussed
Can't wait to see the new lego room
Your not going to believe this but the 3po fig doubles as the pilot because he has yellow marking 😳
Nah
This was my first LEGO UCS set. I was so satisfied at the end, but after realizing there were so many other sets that were better, I just felt so depressed. Still, it's absolutely gorgeous when its your first UCS set.
This set needs magnets in the base and matching magnets in the bottom of the speeder so it floats!!
I gotta say the Luke Skywalker UCS landspeeder is looking pretty cool. That’s mostly because I love graphic design and I think they nailed it with this one, just cause it looks like the movie version.
But over all. I like this one.
"SWOOSH [... ] SWOOSHABLE" - David Hall from Solid Brix Studios, 27. April 2022
It's a great looking set. Not my choice for a UCS set but I can see why this would appeal to a lot of people.
I want any prequel set. Just please have Lego not be stupid and say minifigures don’t matter. Do a good prequel set with good mini Gifu res and everyone would love it.
I love the set! Can’t wait to get it! 😁
It's been highly desired since Boba Fett returned in the Mandalorian, and now coming off of The Book of Boba Fett, really seemed like a no-brainer to me.
way to early tho. UCS Slave 1 is alost perfect so no reason to remake it.
No we need a Jango slave one first not smother boba 🤦♂️
Nice review David! Didn't really like the set it at first, but it is really growing on me a lot! I'm hoping we'll get a UCS Venator for the 20th anniversary of AOTC.
I think this set needed to happen eventually but that being said we really need more Prequel and Sequel UCS sets.
I personally thought the set was kinda lame at first, but then I got it and I actually really like it. For me its kind of reminiscent of the big model cars I used to play with as a kid. It's just a cool looking hotrod.
I’m not a huge Star Wars fan.. but i like their Ucs sets! Picked this one up for 130! Looks really good
It’s an iconic Star Wars vehicle that should have been given the UCS treatment long ago.
I was actually unironically hoping for this as a UCS set
Nebulon b frigate
Venator
Death Star II remake
Super star destroyer remake
AT-TE w/ dropship
Hammerhead frigate
Just to name a few.
And definitely get rid of stickers especially for UCS sets.
Great video! 👍
Your always ahead of the game ayy
LEGO if you’re reading I would do anything for a UCS Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor from Revenge of the Sith! Would be my dream set especially if it included an exclusive Anakin minifig with arm and leg printing!
I’d really love to see a UCS Naboo royal starship more than anything!
I actually really like this set. It’s growing on me significantly
If people are complaining about the landspeeder instead of a prequel set just remember that now that is out of the way it's more lightly to be prequel sets in the future and some of us love the original trilogy and the prequels 🙂 and I also agree no stickers on UCS ! Come on Lego !
Buying this set is better than paying three times for retired UCS sets 😅🤭🤣
This set reminds me a lot of the lego creator cars
tbf it would never be a prequel set this year, I think that's how it should be and Luke land's speeder is a classic
next year though, there should be a prequel ucs set again
I kinda want more buildable creature sets. Imagine a UCS Taun Taun or even Wicket.
I’m still hopeful for a ucs Death Star
Is this genuine?
Most important part, if you can swoosh the set lol
I would love to see another iteration of the Venator
“So what I told you was true, from a certain point of view. -Obi-Wan Kenobi” -David
