Dont know if it is on purpose, some other parts in later sets had that "foggyness" to them and it is a bit anoying on parts like a windshield. On the sabber on the other hand i feel like it rly looks better - i mean "real" lightsabbers are also not transparent, you cant look through them.
I personally always liked those bubbles, gave the sabers a bit of a unique character to me. One of the things lacking with the sabers in lego star wars.
The reason for the foggy lightsaber is to reduce bubbles and make it more reminicant of a lightsaber (as they are not transparent in the films and shows). It is a good technique and might be the same colour as the tessaract from the marvel bags (captain Carter).
It’s a somewhat new mild color as far as I’m aware. The tesseract mold coloring is not the same. That mold has a glitter pattern throughout it much like the blue disk and cone pieces found in the micro Disney castle Lego set.
Isn't LEGO switching all lightsabers to these new frosted ones? I actually think they look better and more "realistic" than the completely clear ones. Also, you can remove scratches from clear elements using a plastic polish like Polywatch.
I would have never guessed Tiago does such an AMAZING Darth Vader impression! Great review, I'll probably use the dark side to just pick up that C-3PO though.
Honestly I really like that when designer's throw in multiple colors in the build, it really does make the building experience funner in my preference.....
I totally agree, more fun to build AND you get a few pieces in different colors which is great for MOCs too. I don't need a ton more grey/whatever primary color they used in the main model.
Paying a premium price for a premium C-3PO, and a great variety of LEGO colour bricks may be a pain in the wallet but a must buy for me. :) Love the review as always Tiago! 👏👏👏👏
Sick set, was waiting for u to review it before I bought, but now that u have I'm definitely gonna get it. Ur videos helped me decide not to get the hulk buster and I think my money will be much better spent on this. Thanks for the review
Series idea for Tiago: (day 4) Tiago should make a subreddit where people can post Mocs that he reviews and gives feedback monthly/weekly. It’s going to be good for both the fans who are looking to improve and will probably take Tiago less time to make.
Im one to love the rainbow infrastructure, specially since it's often used for orientation purposes (me being left handed one time too often I build something backwards, so I appreciate very much the feature to know which side is which).
Great review and video! I liked the atar wars reference. I am just curious about what the pink pieces have to do with team having a cake, but I guess it is reference just designers that worked in lego will catch
I actually was quite surprised and loved this set much more than I thought I would when I bought it back in May. It has a huge nostalgia factor for me since one of the first sets I had growing up was a luke's landspeeder. The build was super fun and brought back lots of memories playing around as a kid. Me personally, I really like the frosted lightsaber blades. Much more than the transparent ones. I'm super happy I picked this up before the price hike a couple months ago. I have to agree with the stickers being the biggest downside, especially ones that are spread out over 3 or more pieces. Maybe one day we'll get UCS sets with no stickers whatsoever.
3:09: I never knew sandwiching those yellow studs on side pieces back to back like that was legal. Whenever I've tried doing something like that with bracket pieces everything feels tighter than I think it should.
Dear LEGO, now that’s how windshields, windows, and transparent parts are supposed to be packaged. Please take notes and execute with all sets Thanks Tiago! Always enjoy watching your reviews!
The frosted clear bar now used for the lightsabers is an upgrade in my opinion, in universe we don't see through the blade so it's actually more accurate.
I think it's a credit to the designers that all of the subtle crazy shapes and angles in this build are so hidden, a professional like you couldn't even see them at first.
This was my first UCS Lego set, and I loved it. I got it for half off, probably due to the lack of sales. Really good technics, especially for the side tubes. I am most definitely picking up more UCS sets.
The main big bad thing about this set for me is that "we" (a very vocal part of the Lego Star Wars fans) are tired of saying the landspeeder so much. I don't know how the sell of it went but I'm not convinced it went well
The reason LEGO got rid of the chrome lightsaber hilts is because they used chrome paint on them rather than just chrome plastic. And the chrome lightsaber hilts had a lot of risks of paint chipping. The only way I see LEGO going back to the chrome hilts is if they use actual chrome colored plastic. But that depends on how expensive it is to make chrome colored plastic.
Likewise, I thoroughly enjoyed this build when I didn't expect to. Great SNOT techniques throughout, always good to learn from. Stickers shouldn't have a place in UCS sets, but there wasn't too many. I felt the centre engine pod could have been mounted better than Technic pins as sometimes the little buggers just won't go into the bloody holes... Great Review Tiago as always
Thank you, Tiago. I bought this in a Lego store in May, really wanting another set which was OOStock, also wanting the promo, Lars Family for May the 4th. So I decided to buy the Landspeeder. Just yesterday, I thought to myself, why did I buy that set? Along with many of the same viewpoints as you stated. However, after watching your video and given your thoughts on the set, I'm glad that it is in my collection. Especially, since I purchased it so early before these crazy price increases. Nice balanced , fair- view and assessment. I completely agree with your statements.

Would be cool if they started making the Belville big-figures again but this time for Star Wars UCS models. They have potential in my opinion. Lots of posability and they did have good proportions, so a good fit for large UCS models like Tie Fighters or AT-STs so they can all be in one scale WITH a figure to put next to it to imagine the real size, as opposed to random minifigures that don't fit in the model's scale
The build of the body was honestly a 10/10 experience. You nail it here mentioning the weird building techniques that bring it all together. I almost felt like Luke working on his Landspeeder as I put this together, especially on the passenger turbine. The biggest drawback of this set was 100% the stickers. This was my first UCS set and I dreaded almost all of the stickers on this set. The easy ones are the large curves on the front, but the turbine stickers were so annoying to me. Having to find the happy medium between sticker spacing and continuously flowing decals was not a good time.
why are the interiors all built using different colored bricks? so that the pieces can be more varied if you plan on building something else with it? or does it improve contrast in the instructions so it's easier to read? or just for fun because they can?
those two curved stickers on the front must have been a nightmare to apply correctly! also, isn't it intentional to have the lightsaber bar more opaque? Arguably it could represent the original one better? Maybe? Idk, personally, I'd prefer the clearer as well...
Same. I pass it up just about every time I go to my local Target. it's stayed at $239 since release. Just a little too much for a set I don't love, just like.
Personally I think the frosted bar looks a bit better for lightsabers, but I also understand for consistency that they should have kept them clear. In general though, I think there's room for lego to introduce 'frosted trans' pieces as an entirely new category of 'colours' because there's definitely instances where one works better than the other, which in the case of lightsabers, the frosted one looks just a tiny bit more accurate.
The rumor goes for each set in which the SW set designers put a pink brick in they get a round of cake from their colleagues, given how SW sets are notoriously grayscale. Since Tiago once worked with TLC, I suppose he's confirming the veracity of this.
Lego knew they couldn't sell a pink car to men, so they went for a wrong color lol. I mean sure, the sandy orange is similar and the true color is somewhere in between Lego's muted pink and that one, but we all know why they chose that one.
I really, really love this set even if the price per piece is a bit out of wack at the new $240 price. Thankfully, I got mine during the May the 4th launch and got it for the original price, got the Beskar ingot gift, and loved doing the whole build. Missed on the Lars Homestead Kitchen unfortunately, though. It was in my original order, but that part of it was cancelled a couple days lated.
I love the movie, I love the vehicle, so I loved the set. But the thing I don't like most in any set is an overly specialized part. Colors I can live with, but the windshield is so purpose built. I'll make the picture of this set my wallpaper but I don't think I'll get it as a set.
4:05 🍰➡🤥 Great review. My main issues with this set are that nougat is too saturated of a color and that he whole vehicle looks way too clean. It just doesn't look like a ragged hunk of junk from Tatooine!
Definitely one my favorite UCS models in a while. Very reminiscent of the big clunky versions Kenner put out back in the day for 6" figures. Looks about the same scale anyway. Would definitely consider buying for 200 or less but not full price. Designers did an amazing job recreating this one. Also finally a UCS set with proper windscreen care. Wish the same could have been said for the Ecto 1.

I believe they changed the lightsaber blade to be foggy on purpose tho. At least there won't be bubbles in the new foggy ones.

@@markuskunath5815 You know, because they're glowing.
@@brandonnguyen6718 thank you that you explained why they are not transparent
it has better light caracteristics when lit by a tiny white led, the light saber blade is nicer looking
The reason for the foggy lightsaber is to reduce bubbles and make it more reminicant of a lightsaber (as they are not transparent in the films and shows). It is a good technique and might be the same colour as the tessaract from the marvel bags (captain Carter).

Hi Tiago!
Your reviews are really good keep at it!
it speaks for itself when you have to name a title of a video like this
Great review and video! I liked the atar wars reference. I am just curious about what the pink pieces have to do with team having a cake, but I guess it is reference just designers that worked in lego will catch
4:06 my brain whent like that too when i didnt saw any pink pieces ... maybe they were on a diet after so many Lego sets
This is taking out with a bang to another level after years of constant Luke’s Landspeeders
That Vader imitation was hilarious! I'd love to hear you use it more! 😂
I got this when it was $200 and love it. Probably would have skipped it if it was $240

You cracked me up with the Vader ending...
Love the colourful bricks from the inside.
The big cost is definitely that new molded windscreen, the hoses, and the new C-3PO detailed dual molded figure.
I think it's a credit to the designers that all of the subtle crazy shapes and angles in this build are so hidden, a professional like you couldn't even see them at first.
'Than you thought' I thought it was amazing first time I saw it
I need this, because my first lego set that wasn't duplos was the sand speeder.
I can’t wait to get this set in 2023 in march 27. It’s one of my favorite ucs sets !
This was my first UCS Lego set, and I loved it. I got it for half off, probably due to the lack of sales. Really good technics, especially for the side tubes. I am most definitely picking up more UCS sets.

It is a good set indeed. Not even overpriced. One big flaw: the sticker colours do not match the colour of the plastic.
What i really want back is the chrome lightsaber handles
The reason LEGO got rid of the chrome lightsaber hilts is because they used chrome paint on them rather than just chrome plastic. And the chrome lightsaber hilts had a lot of risks of paint chipping.

the lightsaber blade is meant to be like that, its a new color frosted trans blue or smthn i think

was there a reason why lego couldnt use solid front curved parts instead of having technic holes in the top of the curved orange parts
Thank you, Tiago.

tiago, can you please do a review of the lego colosseum?

I will not. It has to be the build with one of the things I hate the most about LEGO sets. Repetition…
Hey tiago i wanted to ask you if you are still up to that city from scratch idea? I really want to see your progress (:

Is the windscreen going to be wrapped by paper when Lego phases out plastic packaging?
I agree with the price of this.
I'd probably buy it someday if I ever get enough for it.
Just bought this. looking forward to building it!
I love the set so much except the two axel holes in the fromt have bothered me ever since i got it day one

Lightsabers in star wars arent transparent and so shouldnt be in Lego either. Lego noticed this and changed it, aswell as to prevent bubbles.
"Better than you think" - a step up from really bad (in many aspects) is still quite bad though.
Wait...the frosted saber wasn't intentional?
Personally I think the frosted bar looks a bit better for lightsabers, but I also understand for consistency that they should have kept them clear. Great Video… the missing engine cover I would buy it - it kind of annoys me. I know it's the same in the film, but … 😂
Do the designers get cake if they use every colour of piece? 🎂

Hey @Tiago, check out the CraftedBricks mod for this. It makes it so much better!
The set was $199 before the price jump. That's why people shouldn't have waited. I snagged it on launch day for $199
It's a cool model of a beloved Luke's Landspeeder but it's TOO LONG. Doesn't look right. BUT, the details on it, excellent.
Nah paying that much for so many stickers is a robbery fuck that
Youre the best lego reviewer imo
Someone sold it to me for 200$, so like you said it was a worth it!
I got it back at may 1 best idea when it was 200$ us
It's big! I wonder if my Kenner Luke and Obi-Wan action-figures will fit inside the cockpit? 😉 Anyone knows? 🤔🙏🏼
Looks to be a decent scale for that

More effort went into this C3PO than the basic AF Tony Stark that comes with the $550 Trashbuster
I hate LEGO stickers so much... LEGO should start printing all bricks. We're paying a premium price for premium bricks, stickers are just crappy.
For a hardcore star wars collector, a good ship. But…. There are some darkred pieces.. hopefully they will last for ever.
No cake Sadge
The trans clear is purple... isn't it?
I got this on sale for 185 dollars U.S.
Really don’t know if I should pick this one up for 120€
$240 is beyond stupid. But you can get it on eBay for $150 easy and even $140 sometimes.
