One note: The Interceptor retails for $230 (not $240 like I assumed), my apologies guys, I made this video back in March 😅 …I still stand by my opinion at the end.
Hey David, I always love your reviews! This set looks amazing - thank you for sharing it with us!! However, recently I feel you've not been fair in your evaluation of price per piece value. I know we in the Lego community have long held that a $0.10 per piece is fair value.... but perhaps for too long - going on almost 10 years to my recollection. With the cost of living increases and general inflation of prices (at least here in the US), I feel we've come to a point where a $0.12-$0.14 price per piece standard should not only be expected, but accepted. I know no one is happy about price increases - but as someone at the forefront of Lego set reviewes - I would hope you would be among the first to get behind supporting Lego®️ for the true value that it is in today's economy. As always, keep up the great work!!!
I just hear David saying why LEGO make another Tie interceptor as a question to the audience. Me: the old one was fricking Blue.😂 Can’t wait to pick up my copy since the last UCS I bought was the Slave 1 and Tie fighter and this will match very nicely.
I'm REALLY hoping the next ucs tie they release would be a ucs tie bomber that lost in the fan vote, or a ucs darth vader's tie advanced!!! obviously not anytime soon, next year they should focus on the prequels
I actually dig this set, love the new plaque design though wish they put it in a paper bag to prevent some scratches. I think the cockpit detail is fantastic and I like how we get an exclusive TIE Pilot minifigure, my only nitpicks are I wish there was less gaps around the front cockpit area, and I wish there was a little more studs/tiled balance on the wings rather than them just all being studs.
They put it in a paper bag because it now has a glossy finish rather than the matte finish previous ones had. Aka it’s more prone to damage, scratching etc.
I love the wings and the stand and figures are great. I’m iffy on the cockpit design honestly, the window seems a little disproportionate to how large the cockpit actually is. My hot take is for the money I’d rather stick with the playscale interceptor. The hybrid styling they did with studs and tiles on its wings looks amazing!!!
Another great review David! I was on the fence with this one, cockpit looked odd in the photos but seeing it compared to the 2015 UCS TIE makes me appreciate this newer design! Makes me want a UCS TIE Bomber now! 😅
As much as I wanted to see more Prequel ucs sets this year I'm very happy they revisited the Tie interceptor, hopefully a Tie Advanced will come out soon too
MY absolute biggest, of maybe only 3 issues really, issue I take with this set is just that is WAY too many tiny little stickers for a product that is supposed to be so premium as this. And since I mentioned them, the only other things i dont like is that I think at the very least the outside of the "wings" could have been more tiled off for a UCS set, and that the strips down the side of the front window stick out a little too much imo but i feel this is a nitpick more than anything. At the end of it all it is still a GORGEOUS set!
This set looks great and a must buy but they need to update the 75095 to this new cockpit design , i really like the elements used to make up the center ball and enjoyed your review .
If you are going to judge all of the new LEGO Star Wars 25th Anniversary sets based on price, I can't imagine that you are going to recommend any new sets going forward. I have been on the search for the original UCS Tie Interceptor for many years, and have almost pulled the trigger on the original issue multiple times at the price of $700 (used) to over $1,000 (new). I was so excited to see this reissue that I will happily pay the $240 to display along with my UCS Tie and 2nd Gen UCS X-Wing Starfighters (amongst others). This reissue actually helps offset my disappointment when they issued the 3rd Gen X-Wing. The only UCS Set I would want more would be a UCS Darth Vader's TIE Advanced X1... If history, and "Disney Greed" are any indication, we will be lucky if they do not raise the price of this before it is ultimately discontinued. Inflation is a bitch, and with LEGO building multi-million $ plants and distribution facilities - price increases to 15 cents per piece will be the new normal. Otherwise, LOVE your channel!!! Old_Man_Shilly
I appreciate your blunt comments about the price of lego. There has been so much incredible stuff to come out over the last few years that I just can’t justify purchasing. Tantive IV springs to mind. I’ll pay gladly pay a price that I think is fair.
This is a must purchase for me. I love the Interceptor, and never bought the original. Kinda kicking myself that I never bought the UCS TIE when they were cheap, so I’m curious how difficult it would be to convert the wings of the Interceptor into a regular TIE or TIE Advanced. Might be worth picking up extras if this set ever comes on sale down the track to make a set. I kinda wish LEGO made colour variants of sets as well. For example a Blue/Black version like the original LEGO Interceptor, or a Red/Black version like the Imperial Guard interceptors. Obviously, shorter and more limited runs than the Imperial Grey/Black, but something special for collectors without changing the build.
I was thinking the other day that this set would have been an awesome one to test limited colour variants sets. So the mass production would be the Black/grey, but they could have a blue/black limited run for the ‘retro’ colour variant, and the Red/Black for the Imperial Guard limited run.
Dont really understand the aversion to studs many lego fans exhibit. the way i see it, thats just part of what makes it lego. there are always tons of traditional model kits if you dont wanna see studs
Oh it’s beautiful!! I’m English so using pounds in Britain it’s £199 so on may 4th for the £199 will get all the GWP and points etc so it’s a fantastic deal!
I am curious what vehicles top your list of "MUST MAKES" in the UCS line. For me, a modernized Tantive IV with a detailed escape pod are highly desirable. Love to hear your list.
At 9:08 you mention it is bullet proof and pieces dont fall off: I have to disagree, the cannons at the front of the wings are a little tempermental, not to mention where the grey outline of the wings come together, they dont stay well flat, I used a little model glue to keep them from wiggling loose. It is a good set and I am glad I purchased it but I dont feel it is as bullet proof as you mention. Thank you for your commentrary
Im wondering if LEGO just got more expansive or they ask more because they can, but we have this “it is overpriced” feeling quite often these days. And while I have that feeling often as well, I wonder if we aren’t supposed to change the bar for normally priced set. Maybe there’s a new standard.
The TIE Interceptor is my favorite SciFi ship design. And I was pretty hyped that it was getting this second set... and while it looks great... It's not THAT much better than the original, which I still have. So, as much as I am loyal to this ship... $240 for an okay upgrade to something I already have, and that looks 95% as good? For $240, I was REALLY expecting something more, and REALLY kick-ass... and for me... it's just not there. Not at that price.
Awesome video! Question: what are your thoughts on the use of stickers on the interior. It seems the entire cockpit has just stickers. Thanks for the great review!
My comfort level for price on UCS are $150-160 US. But I got the X-Wing for $185 sadly (before tax and shipping). I splurged. I hate the straps on the interceptor with a passion, but I'm so thankful I can't see them as badly from a distance in the video. The wings are awesome. I wish it wasn't tilted upwards on display. I would wait for a sale and for instructions on Rebrickable to fix the display angle and the thicc ugly straps on it before I made a final decision.
Interceptors look so sick, i really want it! Just need to organize my shelves then maybe my parents will let me. Update: Organized my shelves, talked with my mom. I might be getting it (plus the droid carrier)
as Ive ALWAYS wanted a tie ucs, never got around to the other tie ucs. I feel this one may be a little eh when pulling the trigger. 229.99 for 1931 i mean eh. Is it worth the cost in terms of size, display all that good stuff?
Is there any way you can easily switch the wings between the original TIE Fighter and the new Interceptor? I've never liked the old one, but having the new and the old with the same cockpit would be great.
The year is 2013, Picture a young simple minded eighth grade graduate surfing youtube on the Livingroom TV, trying to figure out what to spend $200 dollars on. Eureka! Solid Brix Studios reviews The Ultimate Collectors series Slave 1. I watched that video countless times, until I could no longer resist. 1 week and four grueling hours of building later, it's magnificent. by golly you've done it agian. the lego tie interceptor was the first lego starwars set I ever built. The nostalgia is off the charts on this one. allas, 12 years later, my wallet is emtpy.
What are people's thoughts on the scaling of the new tie interceptor vs the new ucs x wing? I feel like its a bit too big compared to the x wing. What about the A-Wing from a few years ago?
Good review. I do think this is a buy. I do get a little frustrated at the pricing comments … LEGO increased the price due to input prices. This is just the new reality, like a lot of things we buy. LEGO can’t just drop its price and then expect all its suppliers and employees to just take a drop in their payments. Anyways, great job LEGO and this review has helped me lock this in for May the 4th (well 1st).
"the latter" refers to the second or last of the items previously listed, the term you were looking for to refer to the X-wing was "the former", which refers to the first item listed. I'm not trying to be a dick or a grammar cop, but this is a pretty common mistake people make.
If I get it(probably will) I'll modify the stand to be vertical or almost vertical to have the ship flying roughly level and slightly tilted to one side.
Anyone else notice the eye printing on the helmet is messed up? The lines for the outside of the lenses cover the middle of the lens’ molding. It struck me immediately
Counter-argument on the studs and anti-studs on the wings - i'm currently looking at Wookieepedia and the primary photo of the Interceptor shows the black panels on the wings being a square grid rotated 45º. Seems perfect to me. I might end up smoothing out the LBG pieces, though.
re this UCS interceptor and the UCS Tie Fighter -- If the central fuselage is the same then how does this look with the fighter wings / outer panels ? Would that then be the improved UCS Tie Fighter ?
Hi, Engineer here Bit confused about why they would change the surface to be a polish instead of a matte finish for the title plaque, typically speaking you add rough surface textures to hide surface imperfections that are common in molding. I don't know the exact dimensions of the parts, sometimes you just can't get rid of the sinks completely... but there are definitely ways to hide it. As for the injection mark, putting it on the other side might be more difficult than people think. Because the plate is such a large part, my guess is that the injection diameter needs to be kept large in order to get enough volumetric flow. There might not be enough room on the other side of the plate between the sockets in order to fit an injector of the size they want. Mind you, I don't work at LEGO though and don't have exact dimensions on hand. This is just a ramble because plastics manufacturing is cool 😂
Personally, i really can’t get past the shaping of the cockpit. The two “straps” as jang called them are super distracting for me as well as the gaps that are left because of the techniques used. The wings and the inside of the cockpit are top notch for sure but I personally prefer the more solid brick built style if it means more consistent shaping and less gaps
I'll be honest, I don't think this set is for me simply because the minifigure scale one out now is cheaper and it just hits that spot for me. However that being set it's a gorgeous set.
I wanted to get this, but for $230 idk. I’m thinking getting the $99 interceptor with the coruscant gunship and the gwp trade federation set of course 😉
One note: The Interceptor retails for $230 (not $240 like I assumed), my apologies guys, I made this video back in March 😅 …I still stand by my opinion at the end.
That's great! I can't wait to get it!
Probably a typo from LEGO.
Hey David, I always love your reviews! This set looks amazing - thank you for sharing it with us!!

As always, keep up the great work!!!
atleast they did not use the republic logo for this interceptor
No problem! Is it minifig scale?
Minifig fitting in the cockpit "there are no mistakes, only happy accidents"
That only applies for painting
I love the studs and anti-studs, It's made of lego and should present as such. This one is like a perfect match of smooth and studly lol
way to many studs. no cop for me
i like that “smooth and studly” lol but yeah i’m excited about this set, really cool design and details
That's what I'm saying man. If I wanted it perfectly smooth I'd just buy a proper model kit, lol.
0:14 the former, the latter would be the last thing you say in a list
I caught that too 😂
I just hear David saying why LEGO make another Tie interceptor as a question to the audience.
Me: the old one was fricking Blue.😂
Can’t wait to pick up my copy since the last UCS I bought was the Slave 1 and Tie fighter and this will match very nicely.
This is 100% a day-one purchase for me. I think it’s worth it with the GWPs for May the 4th.
Can’t wait to put it next to the 2023 UCS X-Wing!
I’m in the same boat, hopefully we get a B-wing soon to put next to the X-wing and Tie interceptor
Maybe in 10 years plenty of other ships that haven't already gotten ucs treatment
I'm REALLY hoping the next ucs tie they release would be a ucs tie bomber that lost in the fan vote, or a ucs darth vader's tie advanced!!! obviously not anytime soon, next year they should focus on the prequels
I’m in love with this set I’ve been looking forward to this set all year and my expectations that were up there were met!!

feel like they should do a new AT-ST at this price range next year
I feel like David is the by-the-book good kid and Ryan is the wild loose cannon kid when it comes to LEGO.
funny thing, Ryan hated everything that David liked, and Ryan loved everything that David was neutral on.
The interceptor looks so clean bro, love the moving stand!
mandr got a review first somehow lmao
Mandr on some sort of number 1 most wanted rn
mandr 1st; solidbrix best
he got the set way after david. david made his video in march but couldn’t post it untill now
The set will always release early and LEGO set reviews way too late most of the time.
You got the same profile pic as EckhartsLadder. 🙂
I love the wings and the stand and figures are great. I’m iffy on the cockpit design honestly, the window seems a little disproportionate to how large the cockpit actually is.
My hot take is for the money I’d rather stick with the playscale interceptor. The hybrid styling they did with studs and tiles on its wings looks amazing!!!
finally my favourite Star Wars fighter gets a release i can actually get. might wait a little bit but will definitely get it in the future.
Another great review David! I was on the fence with this one, cockpit looked odd in the photos but seeing it compared to the 2015 UCS TIE makes me appreciate this newer design! Makes me want a UCS TIE Bomber now! 😅
Finally, a Lego Tie fighter with an actually rounded cockpit!
I'm so happy how good this set looks 😄
As much as I wanted to see more Prequel ucs sets this year I'm very happy they revisited the Tie interceptor, hopefully a Tie Advanced will come out soon too

I think this is great looking set. It's actually making me want to buy the UCS X-wing to display with it!
Very excited for this. Will buy
Great review! I will say the lego logo on the studs of the windscreen not being right side up bothers me so much 😂😂😂
New christmas gift for dad 😂
Can't wait for this set!
Bro a new ucs Tie Advanced would be so effin dope
Love how it looks definitely gonna get on may first
If I was to ever get a TIE Fighter set it would be an Interceptor 👀
This is a must purchase for me. I love the Interceptor, and never bought the original. I am curious what vehicles top your list of "MUST MAKES" in the UCS line. For me, a modernized Tantive IV with a detailed escape pod are highly desirable. Love to hear your list.
The UCS TIE Fighter is still one of the best UCS sets of all time in my opinion. These two will look great side by side.
10:01 the 2024 TIE Interceptor is $229.99 as opposed to $239.99.
i love this set i think im gonna buy it

I am going to have to start saving for May the 4th 2025! This set looks fantastic!

Update: Organized my shelves, talked with my mom. I might be getting it (plus the droid carrier)
I’m not a huge fan personally, but it does look good, I’m just not a huge fan of the studded wings but I fully understand why they left them un-tiled
as Ive ALWAYS wanted a tie ucs, never got around to the other tie ucs. I feel this one may be a little eh when pulling the trigger. 229.99 for 1931 i mean eh. Is it worth the cost in terms of size, display all that good stuff?
Great review and great set.
However, I think we need a new name for anti-studs. What’s the opposite of a stud? Maybe wimps?
:54 "could care less" means that you do care. Think about it. It's "couldn't care less."
Man... a UCS U-Wing you say? THAT would be a great set. I'd be a sucker for a new UCS B-Wing as well.
I need it ❤ love the "Tie Interceptor" model
The shaping id the cockpit area looks much better at the physical model than on the press photos.
I ordered a Tie fighter on the internet and got a Thai fighter :/
He's a great kickboxer though
Thanks for a great video!! Awesome set 😎
I want this because
A) i think its cool
B) my first ever Lego Star Wars set was the first minifig TIE intereceptor so the nostalgia is hitting hard
Definitely on my list to get, just finishing building the millennium falcon I managed to scoop up
This is gonna be an expensive May 4th for me. Really excited tho can’t lie.
Looks awesome!!! Day 1 purchase for me!!!!
Would like to see a UCS Tie Bomber and a Mon Calamari cruiser.
Is there any way you can easily switch the wings between the original TIE Fighter and the new Interceptor? I've never liked the old one, but having the new and the old with the same cockpit would be great.

Personally I love the smooth look versus studded way more.
Good review. I do think this is a buy. I do get a little frustrated at the pricing comments … LEGO increased the price due to input prices. This is just the new reality, like a lot of things we buy. Just bought the tie fighter off brick link. I’m hype for this set
Would have loved to see it next to the original, old UCS TIE Interceptor 😊
I think you're among the better LEGO reviewers but your audio is so quite even at higher volume levels than others.
Shiny plaque sucks..scratches visible (already) on a brand new model.. Cockpit design is discussable. Price is still to high.
I really like the pilot although I kind of wish they used the head with the balaclava like they use to
I prefer the matte, glossy tiles come scratched from the bag, not ideal for something that is intended to be displayed.
Already seen the MandR build and review yesterday but will interesting to see your take on it.
They should makes a UCS Uwing that thing would be insane looking
And take up a lot of room
Cool set bro ! How do you clean them though ? I am trying to find a solution for my sets. Thanks !
my only real complaint is i don't like all the weird gaps and shapes around cockpit canopy
Please rotate the window 90 degrees clockwise the lego logo on the studs is driving my OCD crazy 😂
"the latter" refers to the second or last of the items previously listed, the term you were looking for to refer to the X-wing was "the former", which refers to the first item listed. I'm not trying to be a dick or a grammar cop, but this is a pretty common mistake people make.
I got this because I love the imperial fleet set… Now I just need to over pay for the fighter then they need to release a UCS Tie Bomber!

Can you take off the interceptor wings and put the tie fighter wings on them ?
For all that is holy, print those 2x2 corner tiles! It’s a UCS set.
why does lego even use stickers? why not print all the pieces that need to be printed?

Hi, Engineer here
Bit confused about why they would change the surface to be a polish instead of a matte finish for the title plaque, typically speaking you add rough surface textures to hide surface imperfections that are common in molding.
Should of come with a Baron Soontir Fel character and red blood stripes on the sides
However that being set it's a gorgeous set.
my fav starfighter
I am so thankful that you have a good compass when it comes to the pricing.
I wanted to get this, but for $230 idk. I’m thinking getting the $99 interceptor with the coruscant gunship and the gwp trade federation set of course 😉
13:20 agreed, should be a little cheaper. But given the GWPs, points etc if you buy the set asap could still be worth it!
When you list 2 items and then reference them, the term to refer to the first item is former not latter.
0:07
Need those printed arms
I wish Lego would add the x Wing starfighter and the tie interceptor to the starship collection Midi scale.
i noticed that you have an AT-OT but do you have the republic dropship
Hey is this minifig scale? Would like to know as i gate things that are over minfig scale
