    This is the best vehicle review I’ve seen of any vehicle. Great job. If I survive a cancer thing I have going on I’m buying a Red 2021 Grand Touring RF…I might buy it anyway if the docs give me two years.

    This is the one I have been waiting for. I owned a 2016 sport MX5 for 3 years. I LOVED that car, I completely agree that it's just about the best street-legal experience you can get with a car. I also VERY much agree that naturally aspirated immediate power makes the most sense in this car. Turbo lag would ruin the personality. I was a tiny bit disappointed with the 155HP I had since I also couldn't rev it out past 6,500 so I do think the 181HP and higher redline were perfect changes that would only make the car better. As long as they made the transmission strong enough to take it....
    I don't quite agree that the trunk is big enough though. I tried to daily it as a single person, and realized that one big package of paper towels or toilet paper will pretty much fill the entire trunk. And there's no back seat, so you end up having to put all the soda and stuff in the passengers seat. It's possible to make it work, but it's rather inconvenient even when compared to the space in a compact car. Also I'm only 5'9" but I have long legs, and I noticed that I didn't have enough room for my right knee, it was always bumping into the radio shroud plastic. Those were very minor issues though.
    Great review! Thank you for taking the time to edit these videos and post them! I'm so glad I found this channel after buying my Forte GT manual, your reviews are very comprehensive. Cheers!

    I watched a ton of reviews on the Miata RF, and every review had one thing in common: Although quoting the hard numbers doesn't sound super impressive on paper, I notice every reviewer while driving has nothing but smiles and grins all around. Reviews like yours convinced me to finally buy a 2021 RF Grand Touring. And WOW, this car is 10/10 smiles-per-gallon lol. Thanks for the great review, you're among the many that convinced me to get my first Miata!

    If they would make a coupe-hatchback just like this there'd be no question. Even lighter, stiffer, and with a lot more cargo space.

    ND Miata is the modern classic sports car. The changes that Mazda made to update the ND2 transformed the driving experience compared to the ND1 and essentially make the car an S2000-lite while still achieving better daily driving capabilities than that car could ever imagine.

    Excellent review. Just recently purchased a 2021 MX-5 RF GT, jet blue mica and white leather interior. It's my daily driver, and I love it!! The whole time watching this review, my head kept nodding as I agreed with all comments. Nice that you touched on the infotainment - it's worth noting that the native Mazda Connect system is...ok, but Android Auto/Carplay are pretty much a must. Great video quality and editing. Totally agree about the engine, it's almost perfect now with the ND2. The throttle response is excellent with the naturally aspirated engine, it's rev happy and got plenty enough pull for those winding back roads. Of course for pure straight line acceleration you can always use more power, but that's not the main focus of the MX-5. The only thing I lack is a bit more rumble to the exhaust sound, but that can be fixed quite easily with aftermarket parts.

    I have a 2011 PRHT Grand Touring MX-5 that I bought from new. It is still a joy to drive whether commuting or on the backroads. Very nimble, responsive and in touch with the driver and the road. I have test driven the ND and to me the steering felt too light and disconnected. Also it has less storage than my NC in that there is no glovebox, side pockets and a not so we'll proportioned trunk. The cup holders are flimsy whereas in my NC they are bang in the middle console and so no spillage. Overall I think Mazda removed a lot of practicality presumably to reduce the weight and for external aesthetics. I would not want to take the ND on a long weekend away for two people. So I'm sticking with my 2011 until it dies.

    this has got to be one of best if not the best review i watched on the 2021 mx5-gt/rf;this is total 'drivers-car' personally not a 'daily' i think thats where the rare few complaints if you will comes from;this is a weekend-toy/sports-car/drivers-car; NOT a family car not a SUV;not enough trunk space for all your suitcases lol?=buy a SUV!! im tired of ppl making digs on this car,when its a small,sports car for pure driving fun,esp the 6speed manual!! packed with all the drivers' goodies and all the interior goodies too w the grand touring,then to add a POWER-TOP with the RF!! this is such an engaging-car(6speed manual) i think there will be in the next few yrs ppl who are so very sorry they didnt pursue/order one of these personally,id love to be wrong on that,but most likely wont be.and of all things,'adaptive-lighting!!" for a small sports car,thats next to unheard-of, heck most 'normal' cars dont offer/have that!

    What would you say is one of the best commuter/sports car at a fair price? so far I'm kind of set on the MX 5

    • @ridexdrive
      @ridexdrive  3 роки тому +2

      There aren't many options under $40k brand new. The MX-5, BRZ/86, Nissan Z, and the Mustang would be the main ones. It really comes down to what flavor you prefer. They all have their ups and downs. If you want to lose a bit of sport and gain more commuter friendliness, a hot hatchback could also be an option (GTI, Type R, Veloster N). As this is a Miata video, Miata Is Always The Answer! Hope this helps, best of luck deciding!!!

    Would you say this was more fun than the Hyundai Veloster N ?

    • @ridexdrive
      @ridexdrive  3 роки тому +2

      Good and interesting question. That's hard to say. They are obviously completely different cars in their "fun" approach. The N is a near 300 horsepower front-wheel drive car with a lot of noise and flashing lights. The Miata almost feels like a grand tourer in comparison. It's light, rear-wheel drive, extremely well balanced, and not very shouty. I would lean slightly towards the Veloster in terms of pure fun. However, after a long day of driving, I think the MX-5 would bring you more joy. Thanks for the comment!

      Thanks for the comment! I think you mean don't rest your hand on the gear shifter. After all, you have to hold the shifter to use it. What's more important is the pressure you apply to the shifter with your hand. The theory is the pressure from your hand could cause unnecessary force and wear to the rail, fork, synchros etc.

    Cheap every where. No spare tire, just call the tow truck every time. Can't adjust the back rest on the seats. Tiny trunk space, but you can put a six pack of Pepsi in there. Not much space for anything in the car, and a big price. This car would be ok for $15k but $35k , you can get a lot more somewhere else.

      Interesting viewpoint. Everything you list has to do with size. These are things any small roadster will suffer from. If you are that concerned about space, you shouldn't be considering a small roadster. I'm sorry but $15k is an absolutely ridiculous price lol. I am curious what are these other new cars that offer a lot more?

      I just imagine myself going through Death valley in Nevada and I end up with a flat tire in the middle of summer when it is 120 degrees. My 38k car does not have a spare tire. Ok, so I know and have the tools to plug up a flat tire and pump it up, which by the way fills up my trunk with all those tools. Then I find out that the flat tire is not repairable due to a cut, now what do I do with that $38000 piece of beauty. May be start praying that someone would stop and give me a ride ! ! Ridiculous. Put a spare tire in this garbage.

      @@BAHRAMCR Yeah. It's pretty common these days for cars not to have a spare tire. I think something like 1/3rd of all new cars don't have a spare. Luxury and performance brands, in particular, have done away with spares. BMW and Mercedes are two brands that don't have standard spares in most of their lineup. Some Porsche models don't have spare tires. It's the same for some Tesla and Audi models. But I understand your point. Just know the MX-5 isn't alone when it comes to not having a spare tire. With the focus being on performance, a spare tire would mess up the weight balance. In other models not having a spare tire improves fuel economy due to less weight. Thanks for the comment!

      @@BAHRAMCR Well maybe this isn't the perfect car for Death valley in Nevada. Take a Land Rover for that, but for bendy roads close to civilization, the MX-5 is a lot more fun than a giant Land Rover with four extra tires.
