Cool, calm, collected 🤙🏽
This seems surreal, only flying a PA28 and one day I’ll have to learn all this. If you can do it Ben hopefully I can! Great video, really interesting
You can definitely do it Marcus!
Plane Old Ben well I won’t give up! What do you think the best approach (if you pardon the pun) is? I’m hour building at the moment, about to finish college and get a full time job in a few weeks. Was planning to do IMC then Night?
Always a Excellent Video TY
Thanks a lot Jack!
How much longer on your Instrument Rating?
I’ve completed it now, just trying to get round to editing the videos! There will be another two maybe three videos in this series along side my other ones. Thanks for watching.
@@PlaneOldBen - Congrats, and keep the videos coming👍
Always love your content Ben, and am delighted to be first to view and comment.
Ah thank you very much!!
You should get a medal for the first view and comment 😊
Amazing video. Can you please tell me where you got the kneeboard from? I ll be starting my IFR at Da42, and i cant seem to find this kneeboard anywhere in Australia. Thanks
Nice Video. Liked
Good ride, action packed. All the best!
Geez that all looks complicated!
Your videos are always great to watch, thanks so much for making them! I couldn't help thinking that the hood makes you look like a handmaid :)
Instablaster.
Busy flight Ben
There’s a lot going on and it’s really easy to break the allowed tolerances! Thanks for watching.
You flew it on Autopilot? I'm surprised how much easier it is these days. You even have a Navigation Display with your ship.
Hi Ben great video thanks for sharing. 2 questions how much can you use the autopilot? Noticed you using it the cruise then guess you were manual going into the procedure? Also where did you get the double kneeboard?
Very good as usual. About halfway through at the moment, will stick it on the TV tomorrow or Thursday to finish it off
On the RNAV approach is it not taught to maintain the decision altitude to the Missed Approach Point?
Can you not use the moving map inset in the PFD to indicate aircraft up and not north up ?
Very professionnal your procedures are very good with precision
Awesome video as always Ben. Will you try having a go in a Cirrus Vision jet at all?
Good stuff - but i dont understand the ‘Any ice’ check - CAVOK Day, and not near Any clouds, is it necessary? Just curious. Keep up the great work!
It’s very necessary! You can fail the IR Skills test if you don’t ask. Aeros teach you to check every 1,000ft and then top of climb and also on the decent. The point being you’re under the hood and don’t know if there’s ice, so you ask the examiner to check. You could also argue that it’s easy to get very involved in the flight at certain periods, such as preparing the aircraft for an approach, and then to possibly forget. I think it’s over taught to check for Ice so it’s engrained on your brain to always think about it!!
Great video mate 🤟🏼🛫
Thanks a lot Luke!
Well done Ben. You came across very confident and as usual in control. Congratulations.
Planning the same test myself and the video is most helpful.
Another great vid Ben - have you found the training to be progressive in terms of moving from hour building to CPLMEIR? This is something I want to do in the future and it looks fairly daunting.
I didn’t really do any hour building as such, I had around 300 hours when I decided to go commercial! I think there’s a lot of prep you can do at home for the MEIR - get the DA42 on X Plane 11, you can link G1000 iPad apps to it and then fly test profiles. The MEP course gives you a good grounding then I had an IR(R) which have an hours reduction and I did a 30 hour CBIR split with 15 in the sim and 15 in the aircraft.
Don’t you just hate those random engine failures! Excellent management of the workload
Thanks a lot Shane!
Great video Ben! I'm currently doing my IR at the moment, was just wondering what plog were you using?
It’s one which a friend used for his IR, your flying school will have their own and mine was an adaptation of the Aeros Plog.
Another great video Ben. That is some workload!
Thanks 4 the videos Ben, and inspiration , from a fellow Ben lol
Thank you fellow Ben for watching!
Great vid thank you. Glad to see that use of the autopilot is part of the test. I had to hand fly the whole thing for an FAA IR.
Yeh you’re allowed to use it in the cruise however on my MEIR Test I was briefed to take it out at top of decent.
What's the song during the intro?
You’re so privileged! I wish I had the academics for flight school...
The training is really progressive! Head down to your local flying school for a Trial Lesson, you’ll love it!
Plane Old Ben I’ve got a flight planned in mid June, a friend I worked with is a pilot from the states he’s flown a multitude of aircraft through the years.
Impressive.
Again, a nice detailed video! Keep them coming! :)
Thank you very much!
@@PlaneOldBen You're welcome! Seeing you in action makes me doubt if I shouldn't aim for a career in aviation ;) But flying as a hobby is fun too, of course... :)
Phew!! and who said flying was relaxing LOL TY for the excellent vid as always can't wait to see more
Wow - that was excellent - some great editing of the video and fascinating to watch! One question - what is the "blue line" you keep referring to?
Thanks! Blue Line is VYSE, best rate of climb single engine.
