    Excellent video and excellent flying. I'm a UK PPL with an IMC/IR(R). I've been following US channels such as S1K, P1D and Citation Max. Your videos work much better for me than the Americans, clear explanations, great view of the panel and of Foreflight, and enviable accuracy on flying the ILS. You have me wondering how much time and money it would take to upgrade to a multi IR on a DA42 (it's only recreation for me, my main flying interest is gliding, I have an Arcus M)

    • @richardtyrer
      @richardtyrer  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you so much! 😁 Once you have met the criteria for the MEP I think its only a 6 hour course. For the cost I can't remember (I did mine a while ago) but in the UK I think its around £3.5K. I'm not a glider pilot so had to Google the Arcus M, looks a pretty slick bit of kit!

      @@richardtyrer I don't think your Diamond DA42 has enough fuel to get there, and you'll need many refueling stops. You might have to fly over parts of Europe, then Asia. Then, in theory, you will have to go from south east Asia over the South China Sea into Indonesia, then take a flight over the Timor Sea to land in Darwin, AU. :)

    Just recently discovered your excellent videos, Richard. I have a PPL/Instrument and thinking about doing the multi rating in a DA42 in the US. However, as I'm based in Kuwait, wondering if it would make more sense to do it in Europe or the UK (less jet lag to worry about). Do you have a rough idea what a multi-IFR rating in a DA42 would cost in the UK? Thanks.
    By the way, my uncle Kenneth was a radar operator on a Lancaster in the RAF during WWII. I believe the British bombed at night using this "Magic Eye" radar whilst the Americans bombed during the day.
