    Superb presentation. You have raised the bar for UA-cam instructors. Your clear, concise, no-nonsense information isn’t diluted with distracting background music or cheesy on-screen graphics. Kudos to you.

    Proper honest tech, should be proper presentation. Your iPhone tutorial videos are excellent, you speak extremely clear and I like that you are alongside a presentation iPhone screen with the content displayed for which you are presently speaking. Thanks for this Safari tutorial which has been very helpful and you’re correct to say this browser has made steadfast progress. I’d drop the WhatsApp preference and suggest Signal, however that’s my preference but your correct for the UK, as clearly the majority are certainly still using that platform.

    • @ProperHonestTech
      @ProperHonestTech  2 роки тому +3

      Thanks for the comment! I'm familiar with Signal, to be honest I really enjoy using Messages, but it's easier to use the app that the majority of the people who you message also use, and here in the UK that's (unfortunately) WhatsApp.

    This is great, if people knew these sort of features were in Safari, more people would use Safari instead of using Chrome. Great work. 😎👍

    Glad I found these my wife is making the switch to iOS and she isn’t very tech savvy. So this will be a great reference for her because you do a better job of detailing everything than I can. Keep up the great work my wife will be along for tutorial’s as soon as the 14 comes out because I told her it was pointless to get the 13 at this point. When a new one is just around the corner.

    Safari is best with the iPhone. I used to be against it and used Chrome exclusively on my iPhone up until 2-3 years ago. Since, Safari has improved tremendously and added features
    that are as good as or better than Chrome. Safaris is my go to browser and I'm happy with the functionality of the browser.
    Great video and presentation. If I can offer one bit of advice: the screen is on the darker side. Maybe have a bit more lighting on to you appear brighter?

    I use it sometimes, but I keep Chrome for online shopping websites, or sites I intend to share because the laptop I have isn't an Apple Product. I can't share the exact webpage I'm on from Safari on my phone to Chrome on laptop, but I can share Chrome on my phone, to Chrome on my laptop. If I get a MacBook later down the road, I'll keep these things in mind! That's super helpful!

    Another excellent video; thank you. Safari has always performed well for my needs and I’ve found it very helpful on mobile devices because of its low battery usage, compared to other browsers. I've got Chrome installed on my MacBook Pro (but not my Mac Studio), as there's still the odd occasion where I need to access something that's Chrome only, and I just accept that at least one of my computers is going to have to have it. I'm really hoping that, in time, enough extensions will be Safari compatible that I can ditch Chrome entirely.

    I never use Chrome, ever, not even on my Mac. Safari is just so much nicer and better integrated. But on my iPhone, I use Brave Browser. No ads anywhere, not even UA-cam, making UA-cam actually watchable. Also, with playlists, I can keep youtube videos pre-loaded on my phone so I don't eat up my cell data when out and about. I can also play videos/music and turn off the screen and videos play in the background, or even in picture-in-picture mode while I do other things! It's fantastic! And it's free!

    Thanks for the video. I really like using Safari as the Apple Pay function isn't on other browsers. Yes, I have Chrome and occasionally find that some websites work better on it, but I find myself using Chrome less and less. As Keychain doesn't work with Chrome (I believe WINDOWS users can download an app that allows it to work) it means Safari gets another point....and with Keychain now having the ability to generate One Time Passwords for Two-Factor Authentication AND to insert them with FACE ID/Touch ID it means I don't always have to switch between Safari and the likes of Google Authenticator app.

For me it all comes down to Trust. I've even gone so far as to use Apple MAPS and found it to be more reliable than Google Maps. 😳 I know...hard to believe but true. My latest discovery is iMusic....or simply labeled as Music. The sound quality caused me in just two days of listening to Stop paying Spotify and Start paying Apple. I have my iMac connect to a full blown Klipsch R-51PM speaker system and the Sub is capable of setting off Earthquake meters at the nearby College....or as you'd say...University. :) 🍎Rocks and Safari leads the Charge.

    Really nice presentation. Indeed Safari is a great browser but for us Windows users, chrome and edge are far more convenient due to syncing our stuff straight away, and since Safari is available only for iOS and Mac… the same applies for the Samsung browser on my galaxy phone, it’s great but it can’t sync with windows.

    As soon as I pick the option to save as pdf reader in safari the notes app disappears from the share sheet and can’t be added. Any ideas ? Only 2 apps show in suggestion and won’t show any other apps to add to the share sheet. When left as automatic they all reappear. The only way I can save a web page as pdf reader is to save to files then open notes app and then import from downloaded files.

    • @ladyflimflam
      @ladyflimflam 2 роки тому +1

      There is at least two ways to do this. If you have a pdf editor like GoodReader you will be able to direct it to open in GoodReader then you can add to Notes using the share button in that app. You can also pick the print option after asking it to save as pdf reader. At your print dialog box pinch out one of the preview pages and you will go into markup. You can save to notes from there.
      If you want the info and aren’t concerned about having it as a pdf you can do another work around. Switch to reader view in safari itself then open the share and select email. This will dump the entire article into an email. Select all and copy or cut. Close the mail window then select notes in share. Paste into the textbox on the notes window. That way you have the text of the article plus a live link embedded in the note. You won’t get the graphics this way.

    Hi, thanks for this, really useful as I am considering getting an iPhone. Having looked at iPhones in the Apple Store, and talking with sales agents there, it seems that Reader View is now greyed out.....I have an iPad Pro, and this is still useable on this device/iPadOS. Do you know if Apple have consciously removed this function? the % option to increase the text size , whilst sometimes effective, oftentimes simply increases the text size rather than then making the text fit the screen. This is currently a frustration, as I want a completely Apple ecosystem, with the integration offered, but somewhat thwarted by the poor availability of being able to comfortably read a webpage, for which my eyes need an increased text display. I have tried this with all the accessibility options cranked up. Any thoughts? I'd very much appreciated your comments :)

    Very helpful advice on settings and everyday use-thank you.
    What I wish I could stop with Safari for iOS 15.4.1 is how it opens so many windows-not tab groups but multiple windows. I don’t know what I’ve done to initiate this. I don’t mind lots of tabs in one window, since at least then I can access them easily and close them, but there can be so many tabs open in so many windows that it becomes unwieldy. I’ve tried using the ‘Close Tabs’ option in Settings but that doesn’t seem to solve the problem.
    How can I prevent or at least control the number of individual windows that are open in Safari?
    Thanks again.

      Thank you! As for your question, check out this tutorial. You'd have to do it on Mac/PC, but if you have iCloud activated on your devices, any bookmarks that you import into the desktop version of Safari should then sync to your mobile devices. support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/safari/ibrw1015/mac

      Cheers, unfortunately I only use a Chromebook which is a fantastic piece of kit. I’ll figure it out one way or another.

    Jow can i delete the annoying "use google app" popup everytime i search for something. It is one of the main reasons to not use the Safari browser

    The problem is safari isn’t widely available. For instance at my work can’t install it because of admin issues.
