- Опубліковано 17 кві 2014
- This is how I made a bandsaw scoop. Out of a block of pine from a log I use the bandsaw to cut out a scoop and sand it to shape.i put on a few coats of spray laquer for a finish .I am going to use this for a coffee scoop .if you want to make one for food use you will want to use a food safe finish like a cutting board oil or some kind of wax.
this if a fun project. Can be made in a few hours

Thanks for the idea Patrick, now just need to square up my Bandsaw! :)
Hi Patrick, watched this video a few years ago but I haven’t attacked my bandsaw in anger since.....went back to the video today and it’s still a fantastic project, made an attempt today at a scoop and it turned out abysmal....gonna keep going with some more attempts.....cheers Patrick and greetings from the north east of england.
Just seeing it today. I can’t wait to get home and get my bandsaw functional. It was abused by previous owner.
That is a really nice result.
I have no problem with my fingers that close to my scrollsaw blade. I think I want a jig.
Sanding spung will work great for sanding inside the scoop.
So beautiful
Hey Patrick, "thanks" for this video. Am working on three of these little scoops right now for Christmas. Great video, and very easy to follow steps. Have a great Christmas.-Rod
Will send a pic of them when finished.
Minunat. Bravo.
nice job, very creative way to make a scoop.
+Jeffrey Bauer thanks i like how they turn out i made a bunch for gifts and people loved them thanks for watching
great job
wow that came up pretty nice Patric its amazing what you can do with a band saw, just got my new SABER band saw 2 day's ago this is something i have to try out.
Nice scoops. I think I'll make a few up over the next few days. Good way to use up some wood from my scraps/ ff cuts pile out here in the woodshop. Should be able to sell a few at the upcoming Arts sales I'm attending as a vendor with my woodworking stuff.
Nice project for the band saw. I wonder if you could use your inner cut out as a temporary sanding block to sand the inside of your scoop.
Nice video, thanks for sharing.
Excellent idea!
Like it!
You'd have to be careful not to spoil the final joinery tho
Well done, very nice, thanks.
thanks so much i really need to make more some time they are fun to make and everyone enjoys it when i give them out as gifts thanks for watching
great job, I learned something today, thanks for sharing.

How to make a Scoop, of course...

Good job. I'm just starting my wood working channel so I'm " stealing" ideas to try lol! Got to try this. Thanks for sharing the idea!
+BirdsAdventuresInWoodworking hi and welcome to my channel thank you for watching and i cant wait to see what u come up with
Great job. I saw this on another site (Jay Bates) and he mentioned that he first saw it made here so the least I could do was to come and see the original idea take form. It was well worth the visit and I've subscribed to your channel. I'm going to make one or two for my wife. I hope they turn out as nice as yours.
+Robert Trevena thanks Robert i appreciate you watching and i hope to see some pics of the scoops you make
Very cool idea, filling my coffe maker in the morning with a scoop I made from a tree I climbed as a kid.....Plastic from Walmart doesn't even come close :)
+Kent Klapstein awesome and so happy to hear if u have a pic or two i would sure love to see email me at patricksworkshop452@gmail.com thanks for watching
great video man!
thank AJ its been awhile since this video was posted but that was the original bandsaw scoop I made
thanks for watching check out one of my newer videos to see how I edit these days
Patrick's WorkShop I'll check them out
thanks for sharing your video
That was a really cool project. Thanks for posting it. Apparently my honey-do list just got longer.
wonderfull, and if you put the sand paper between the two pieces you'll be able to sand properly at 5th minutes of this video
Great little project - and I broke the scoop I feed the birds with just last week. I must try that.
Nice scoops you made there Patrick ...must try this myself . I have subscribed to your channel :-)
+Richard Peej thanks Richard they are fun to make
thanks for watching
Patrick,, its a little bit late, but i like this a lot... greeting from the one and only Patrick from the Netherlands ;-)
Fantástico!!!!!
patrick you do nice work i enjoy your vidios.! is that a cinti reds hat? thanks
Nice ! good idea , think I'll try that , on the bandsaw at the beginning looked dangerous !
once I was just using my thumb to push a small piece into a bandsaw blade ( I DON't NEED NO PUSH STICK ! ) suddenly it became MUCH easier to push than I anticipated, came within 1/64th of slicing my thumb open !
Another firewood project, my neighbor isn't going to have anything left to burn when winter comes the way I have been raiding his firewood stack lately.....LOL
Hey Patrick I've found an easy way to sand the inside of the scoop. I just wrap the sand paper around the piece that I cut out and use it easie pesi!!!
Great job! I'm still somewhat amazed at what can be done with a band saw. Have you ever tried using a piece of PVC with sandpaper wrapped around it to sand the inside of a curved cut?
That sir is a hell of an idea. Ty for the tip
Instablaster
Very cool! I think I have seen other people make this project too just can't remember who..... lol
You may have seen a few others make some but I am the originator the Creator, Producer Designer,
And I am also of the Inventor, So that makes me that God has bandsaw scoops That's right I said it MM MM MM MM Ha ha thanks for watching
You show easy to make fun projects. Much more enjoyable than those .001 tolerance professional whatevers although they have their place to
hey man those turned out really nice. i hate the little plastic coffee scoop we have that comes with the coffee.. so ima thinkin ima gonna make me a scoop or two... now that i got the scoop on how theyre made..haha
Awesome job!!! What grit sandpaper do you use on your belt sander? Thanks
отличная идея))!
+Дмитрий Неровный
Спасибо, сэр
very nice. Jay recommended your page. Very nice to find more talented woodworkers to follow. I like this project, think it would make a great idea for kitchen scoops, Just do a food safe finish. What was the total-ish project time with finishing coats? Looking forward to watching the other videos. Thanks for sharing.
Nice Vice
Great project! But you should really change your sanding disk paper:-D
what belt sander is that?
your jigs are dead simple but efficient
Just curious why lacquer them and not oil...are these decor items
it's just what I used that day in the video I have made lots since this video and I use salad bowl oil now
Do you use any respiratory protection ?
only is osha is watching
i like to filter my shop air with my lungs lol
what kind of bandsaw do u own?? just wondering
Patrick's work shop its an older one? really?? So u got the $400.00 one.. Cause I know that theres a cheaper one thts black for like 100-129.99 and then theres a green one( like urs )for 350-400$ I was debating the 400 one but didnt only cause the floor model didnt look too good. Then again looks can be deceiving ..aint it? Well damn tht thing works good for being an older model and u got it in good condition too.. and I showed my wife th e scoops and thts gnna be my next band saw project.
todays me and the wife are going to casino for her bday..its tomorrw but she has to work but tonight ill check em out and yea dude ill see what i can come up with it looks like a fun project and we definitely could use a couple around the house and will make a good gift for tomorrow. idk if ill be able to do a step by step vid u know how my vids are but i wont let ya down bro.
Patrick's work shop i wont let ya down bro!
