Nice job on the table fence. Why I am here. 2 major things for you and your viewers to consider. Number 1, your blade safety guard is installed backwards (long black guard on left side of saw which job is to prevent blade from coming out if it snaps). Easy fix, remove covers and flip it! Number 2, your barrings will prematurely wear the way you have them set up. Under no tension, NOTHING should move but the blade. I suggest anyone watching Alex Snodgrass's bandsaw tune up video. Nice channel
I'll agree for the back bearings, but if the sides aren't on the blade you sacrifice a whole lot of accuracy. For some cuts that is fine but in others it absolutely isn't.
I've got that same bandsaw. Found your video looking for tips on installing the urethane tires. These saws can be upgraded way beyond where you went. Mine has the ball bearing blade guides, plus riser block kit for much better resaw capacity, Grizzly tension / release mechanism, MLCS safety power switch on the post when my OE switch died. Wheel brush. I am about to add a 2.5" dust port to the bottom of the lower blade shroud as the OE pickup location is more or less useless.
+Mike Merzke thanks so much Mike these are a few upgrades I been meaning to do for quite sometime so I'm glad I made a little video about it just in case to help somebody else out thanks so much for watching
thats cool Darren i hope your saw works as well as mine and the lazy susan is so handy to have in the shop i use it as often as i can to make things easier thanks for watching
+Nicholas Gomez thanks Nicholas that handle is worth it if you're looking for one there is a link in the description from amazon where i got mine thanks for watching
+Matt Diresta thanks so much Matt ,that wasn't so much of a graphic as of a video I edited, anyway thanks so much and I hope you improve all my videos Each time thanks so much for watching
Hi. I'm just new on woodworking. I bought a Harborfree 14" bandsaw. Well I'm not reach so Grizly, Powermatic, Laguna, delta, etc they are so far, far away of my possibilities. I know that this us not a high quality machine but, can I make some upgrades to it ?
+Willem Kossen man im happy to have you back aboard, thanks, and i know i wished for a bandsaw for a long time then i got this one and it's a work horse for a low price unit thanks for watching
+The Russian Woodworker thank you so much these new bandsaw tires changed the way the bandsaw feels so if you're contemplating changing them I would go for thank you so much for watching
The robotics team that I am on has a nearly identical band saw, though ours is blue and maybe a different brand. I'll have to refer to this video to get everything set up correctly. Good job man!
Love the updates, I just got gifted this saw and looking to update the bearing guides and there is no clear part for the "Central Machinery" bandsaw, what bearing guides do you have installed?!
LOL. Good thing you slyly, without mention, vacuumed out the band saw interior between removing the old tires and installing the new. Would have made a mess of those new tires otherwise. By the way, did you think we wouldn't notice? That's nearly always my first step when working inside the band saw, so I noticed.
good stuff patrick!-i like the handle and aux table! i just got some new tires not that long ago.. it took me awhile to figure a way out had to get the tires on but I ended up using my heat gun I like the boiling method though
+Joe basementwoodworking i can tell you that heating them with hot water made it a super delightful process to change and it didnt over heat the tire and put any weak spots on them so i am confident they will last a very long time also i with the price of the tires i didnt want to chance messing them up thanks for watching
Appreciate the links for the replacement parts. I have the same saw and unsure of proper sizing. Usually only see other brands. Know where i can get a new plate insert?
hi i like my bandsaw it works good as long as it is tuned up and has a good blade i want a bigger one someday but this works good in my small shop for now
carter makes good products, on my saw I found the way I demonstrated works best for my needs and how I like the guides to be set on my saw to each their own thanks for watching
+Edgar Avila yeah Edgar my saw did come with the bearing guides, if you're looking to upgrade years take a look at the Carter ones they seem to be pretty nice thanks so much for watching
+Wood Tools Workshop awesome to inspire i believe on this saw those tires were original to the saw and its a 2003 model so it was past due for new ones i thank you for commenting and for watching
what about a fence ---the cheapest aftermarket ive seen is 169.00----kinda defeats the purpose of buying harbor freight---does the table have pre-drilled holes to accept a fence---if u google harbor freight bandsaw fence u get the shipping pack directions for a fence---what do u think ?
hey Greg the table does have the mounting holes also i have been looking at a few aftermarkert fences but im a cheapskate and think i can build a very nice one thats more better and can add other features to it stay tuned for that check out the fence i made a few years back that fits on my auxiliary top ua-cam.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=nCyzX6NBCFU thanks for watching
hey Anthony this one is a slightly modified Central machinery (harbor Freight) and Ive had it for a while and its worked out good for everything I use it for I would like a riser block but i have like 6 new blades i want to use up first a 17 inch grizzly is on my list someday
hello Greg on this machine as it is now i can resaw 6 inches , when i get a get a6 inch riser block and a 103 inch blade i could cut 12 inches but for now i like it in this configuration thanks for watching and commenting
where did you perches the Ball Bearing Guide I found the top with bearing on ebay but not the bottoms with the bearing. love your videos man. keep it up.
hey Jack this saw came with bearing guides on it , but with a single bearing . I tapped the holes to 1/4 20 and added double bearings I was looking at the guide upgrade from carter products but it was to expensive heres what i was looking at www.carterproducts.com/band-saw-products/band-saw-conversion-kits/cent-14# so i modified mine instead if u have the guide blocks on your saw i know alot of people who prefer that type best bet is the carter ones or making some ur self my bandsaw is theCentral Machinery 14" inch from 2006
Hey loved the upgrades. looks like the harbor freight band saw i have if so where did you get the bearing guides that would also be a great upgrade for my saw
+KYWOODWORKING thank you so much the bearings were on the saw when I got it I'm sure you can look online and find the ones that change out the factory ones thank you so much for watching
+joseph poncik a lot of the newer bandsaws already have these upgrades on them My bandsaw is from 2003 so it's kind of a little older and needed in all these parts anyway, I believe most 14 inch bandsaws are similar in many many ways so yes I do believe so thank you so much for watching
+the Von Thompsons thanks so much I'm using iMovie and just a little cannon camcorder nothing fancy here just a little effort into what I'm doing thanks so much for watching
don't allow the bearings to touch the blade. use paper in between to establish the minimal space. you want to have little to no noise when running standalone(without cutting)
Just bought a small bandsaw and wanted to replace the tires. This has to be the best demo I've seen on youtube. Thanks!
thank you Bill i have got a lot of good feedback thank you for watching

Well done!
Thank you for this, I been think about a band saw but know very little about them ,perhaps a video on looking and buying one

LOL. Good thing you slyly, without mention, vacuumed out the band saw interior between removing the old tires and installing the new. Would have made a mess of those new tires otherwise. Hey, great job! Did you do a video of the blade guide upgrades? I have the same band saw and it's time to do it up,,👍
Appreciate the links for the replacement parts. I have the same saw and unsure of proper sizing. Usually only see other brands.
Know where i can get a new plate insert?
Is that a T32208 Central. Isn’t that limited to a 3/8” blade?
Nice Upgrades !

Hello Patrick
I happened to find a band saw used very similar to yours before you buy it, and I would like to know your thoughts on it.

Looks like worth while upgrades.

Nice upgrades Patrick! Now build something!
+SouthernGinger ok i'll make something
Set it up like Snodgrass video shows. best upgrade I did was change to Carter guides.

+Ray King hey man a problem I got the tires and the tension handles from Amazon links in the description if you're looking thanks so much for watching
You've inspired me to replace my tension knob with that handle. How old were the tires you replaced?
+Wood Tools Workshop awesome to inspire i believe on this saw those tires were original to the saw and its a 2003 model so it was past due for new ones i thank you for commenting and for watching

Anthony Maida , it looks like a harbor freight central machinery
Hi, Patrick! First of all, Awesome video!!
I would like to ask you for a riser block kit that fits into this machine.
Thanks in advance
this is a central machinery right? what is the max depth of cut for resawing? thx
hello Greg on this machine as it is now i can resaw 6 inches , when i get a get a6 inch riser block and a 103 inch blade i could cut 12 inches but for now i like it in this configuration thanks for watching and commenting

Great video, Patrick! Time to kick the tires and light the fire... lol
+KSFWG tires kicked and fire is roaring thanks for watching
that was awesome!
+Summers Woodworking thanks Brian just a quick slapped together video nothing fancy ...yet
Still... awesome work bro
don't allow the bearings to touch the blade. use paper in between to establish the minimal space. you want to have little to no noise when running standalone(without cutting)
I don't set the back bearing against the bandsaw blade. I set my blade only when the blade is cutting.
Great upgrades buddy. I really like the long handle. I'll bet it's a joy to use now :)
+Mark Christopher yes sir that longer handle sure makes blade swaps a lot easier and faster now thanks for watching
So does anyone know where to get these guides
new blade won't last long, the blade has to touch the bearings when you push against it. not when in is normally running. just a tip ;p
+jordy verhaegh thanks for the tip, but i like how i have it set up it give me very accurate cuts thanks for commenting
Ok no problem :)
Never push the thrust bearing up against the blade put it about a 1/16" away
Seconded. Leave space between the bearing and blade so the bearings don't prematurely wear out.
I enjoyed this video dude!!! Very well made..>>>
v good
+Raja Manickam Thank you
I thought the bearings aren't supposed to touch the blade?
I see others do it that way but personally I like the blade touching so it don't flex and I feel it gives my more control thanks for watching
like a Bauss!!!!
+Matt Lane you know it
It depresses me how your Harbor Freight bandsaw looks to be identical to my Jet. ;-p
when i removed my table it fell on my foot How do i prevent this?
+Affendog duct tape. Is always the answer when you are preventing things from falling on you're footsies. Thank for watching. .
Don't drop it.
Why is your bandsaw on a swivel?
