You went to the right place for traditional Thai food and sweet. The Old Siam originally is known for traditional Thai costume and jewelry, but, you can also find some rare Thai dessert here.
The Old Siam is catering for local elderly / middle aged population. The food is great and the goods are just they way they remembered it from their younger days. Also if you are catering aunties and your food sucked then you won't survive :D
ah, the Kanom kai, just got reminded that it was my all time favorite Thai dessert,. I haven't taste one again since i moved out of the country. Must be a decade now.
15:52 This one is an old Thai dessert since The Ayutthaya Kingdom called "Thong Eak" (Gold One), it is made from wheat flour, sugar, egg yolk and coconut milk. Mix and stirred fry with low fire until it became thick then pour in mold. Take out from mold and smoked with fragrance candle, decorated with pure gold leaf on the top. Many Thai's desserts in Ayutthaya era were created by a foreign lady "Marie Guimar". She was a Japanese man's wife who served as noble man to Ayutthaya's king. This dessert is one of her creation.
2:20 It's my favorite snack since childhood. This mall is in the China town area. And this mall’s food is much better than those tourist night markets.
@@ChovyTravel Thank you, this place should call ‘The Old Siam’, if you miss the ‘The’, Thais may don’t know where is it. This place is not the biggest one but it is the biggest in China Town. ☺️☺️☺️
