We left Illinois because of the corruption, high taxes, cost of living. We my wife and me have never looked back after leaving. Our taxes on our house there was 7000 dollars a year on a quarter acre. Down here in Kentucky we have 25 acres and pay 1700 dollars a year. .corruption.
How about NJ, with their 10K taxes per year for your home! I don't know how people still can live there. I moved out in 1997 and moved to Florida. I purchased a home 6 years ago and my taxes are a bit more than $800 per year as opposed to 10K for a home in NJ! CORRUPTION at It's Finest!
I live just outside of Charleston, SC and in the past 10 years we have exploded in growth and population, from people moving here from all over the country mainly cold and high tax states. Now thanks to everyone moving here (and I dont blame them exactly our economy is booming we have lots of jobs, but the state and counties are not controlling it) it has made traffic an absolute nightmare (they solve the issues with new roads, exits and round abouts and then build more homes and back to square one again) , the trees are torn down by hundreds of acres to make housing for all these people moving here and its ruining what we had. To make it all worse these people then move here and want to then turn our state into what they fled from by creating higher taxes to have what they had there and electing the same types of politicians with the same agendas the same mentality that created the mess they left. Its madness.
er, Charlotte has always been Liberal. It is a huge banking center with a young transient population. Traffic was "an absolute nightmare" years ago. You are projecting. What is ruining the state is the incessant warfare between the two political parties. The Conservatives are losing ground and have been using dirty tactics to stay in control.
Old habits die hard. People can leave problematic states but they never can leave the problems they have inside of them. True, my uncle and his family lived in NJ. About 8 years ago they were driving down to Miami for Christmas and made a pit stop to visit me in SC on their way down. They had on winter gear and here I was still wearing a long sleeve T-shirt, lol. They asked me how much I paid in property taxes which was like 3x less than they were paying. They were down here within the year and never looked back. Up until then, I had no family in the state. 😊
NJ is bleeding people with money but it's sanctuary status has helped keep it's population at an 'even' level cuz we have lots of poor people moving in now. People say the taxes are high in NJ and they are, they just raised the tolls on all the toll roads again and they raised the tax on tobacco again, cigarettes are at about 10 bucks a pack now, two things I'm affected by, because I use tobacco and I drive a descent amount, however in comparison to places like New York and Philadelphia, the tax rate is way down and the one thing people forget are that incomes in this state are a lot higher than many other states, New Jersey has always been known as the powerhouse of the US economy, Bush 1 said it when he visited, its true, whatever happens in NJ will usually be the trend for the rest of the country. Not sure how cheap gas is at the moment with covid 19 going on in other states, but at the moment I'm paying $1.51 a gallon, about $20 bucks to fill my tank and my job isn't effected by covid 19. Like he said, a lot of people are escaping nearby states for NJ. Many live in NJ and commute to work in NY or PA and keep a much larger piece of their paycheck. For those reasons, New Jersey did not make the list and even though it didn't, its a known fact, lots of people are leaving this state fast, just not at the pace large enough to make that list. New Jersey is also the only state thst still has 100% full service gas stations. That provides a descent part time job while in school and on the Turnpike, its providing people with little education a descent paying job with benefits, just to pump gas, something people do themselves in almost every other state.

Doing a little searching on the internet indicates the states with no income tax are: Alaska Florida Nevada South Dakota Texas Washington Wyoming And by 2021: Tennessee Are you a resident or is your research in error?
A quick google search shows "New Hampshire has no income tax on wages and salaries. However, there is a 5% tax on interest and dividends. The state also has no sales tax. Homeowners in New Hampshire pay the third-highest average effective property tax rate in the country." So congrats on dodging the income tax bullet only to dodge into one of the highest property taxes. So basically the state is luring people in with the no income tax bait and switch by upping the property taxes to get back lost revenue on the income tax.

Xen Fusion I LOVE Tennessee. It’s so beautiful, no state income tax, low property tax, no personal property tax. They have sink holes, and tornados but everywhere has something
Strict gun laws are just the tip of the iceberg. Wherever a state disrespects your right to bear arms, you can bet they're also infringing on a thousand other little things as well. They're genuinely the type of people to tell you you can't cut down that tree in your front yard because the homeless depend on it for shade.
I really don’t think a family would leave their job(s), friends etc for less stricter gun laws. It may be a plus when they move but not an actual reason to move.
The problem with Illinois is the residences who own homes are seeing massive increases in property taxes. As a result, they are unable to sell their homes to the few outsiders willing to move to the state. Thus, their home which was thought (at one time) to be a long term investment has become a boat anchor keeping them from leaving. The only way out would be to abandon their property and leave.
Booboobear2388 , corruption in Illinois is horrible. The joke in Chicago is "Vote early. vote often!" In my lifetime, I believe we had four governors who were sentenced to prison. It is so bad that some people even suggested putting up new "Welcome to Illinois" signs in the highways leading into the state. The signs would read "The people of Illinois welcome you, to a state where our governors make our license plates." It would be funny if it were not so serious.
You are right; the property taxes are too high. I live in a small town with a university and a two year college. When I can see what some of the tax money is spent on, i am, better able to accept the high taxes. There has been four new grade schools built and two high schools that have had major renovations in recent years. Tax money spent in behalf of educating children, is great. Few things could be as important.

Depends on what you do. If you work at Wal-Mart or Fred Meyer then no, it does not meet it. If you work in the skilled trades and put in some time, you can pretty much make $30 an hour.
The cost of living in Idaho did not used to be all that unreasonable compared to the Idaho wages until so many wealthy-to-idahoans, out-of-staters moved in over the past 20 years and inflated real estate costs way beyond what Idaho wages can afford.
I think West Virginia looks so beautiful. I just love the architecture, the forests and what a rich history it has. I’m sure they would have tons of tourist if they could show everyone how breathtaking the state is.

There's a net increase of people again for this year. It was a small growth but nothing surprising here. California has suffered more people migrating a few times in the past. Most recently during the Great Recession. It happens with every economic downturn. But the net result has always been a increase over the years. People are expecting to see drops like Alaska. It's not. Even for SF it is less than 1%. Most of the people moving aren't moving far. Often times it is just into the Central Valley. Not as desirable a place to be during summer.
I’m from Brooklyn and joined the Air Force and was stationed in Wichita Kansas and have loved it. If John Denver wrote that song about West Virginia, it can't be all that bad. I've never visited the US, but when I hear West Virginia, I think about his song. Must not be so different from the mountainous part of Romania. Anyway, an artist can do a lot for the image of a place, especially in the minds of foreigners.
I know a lot of people hate on West Virginia cause there’s nothing to do. But that’s because they want cities and clubs and West Virginia isn’t that. West Virginia is a place for nature. Wait what?! I guess I'll be lookin for some properties in Kentucky. :)
Communists?
er, Charlotte has always been Liberal. It is a huge banking center with a young transient population. Traffic was "an absolute nightmare" years ago.

Isa Alatovic The birth rate and people moving from abroad is keeping the total population from declining.
There is a net movement of people moving out. It's almost 200k a year. Most of the people who are moving out simply can't afford to live in California. Florida
Nevada
South Dakota
Texas
Washington
Wyoming

Homeowners in New Hampshire pay the third-highest average effective property tax rate in the country." 2003 beautiful SW Florida 🥰
I’m from Aurora IL and omg I can’t wait to get out of this state, I’m so desperate I almost took a job in Idaho...after this video I’m thinking about taking that job lol
its a good state.
The first city scene you showed for Kansas was actually Kansas City, Missouri.
The ever increasing taxes here in CT are making us leave. Can't wait till I can too.
Dam, that bad. I’m in NY and feel CT is a lot cheaper in terms of property taxes. I can’t buy a house here, CT is my best chance.
It doesn't matter who has been in charge in CT...our taxes not only go up, but more items n activities get taxed. I have voted both Dem n Rep and have been disappointed each time.
@@kateschober9719 Dems in power in CT for over 30 years. 'Nuff said.
Awwwww :( I wanted to move to Bridgeport, are the taxes there bad too?
Gregg Mitchell yep, watched my state circle the drain for all of them. Love to leave but can’t actually and our current clown in charge Lamont , I didn’t think it could get worse than Malloy..........wrong
I am actually moving to WV next month.. why? Working towards being a psychologist w/a focus on drug addictions.. I think I just might make a career out of it...
You've made an interesting decision. Considering how west Virginia leads the country in mental health problems , you should be making big bank before very long
Even the worst drug addiction therapist in WV probably drives a new Benz 😆.
@chris younts that may well be.
I'm sure they will have Medicaid
Good luck to you! Let us know what it's like to be paid in farm animals and home-made pies. Jk
You are sorely needed in West Virginia, and yes you will have more work than you bargained for with the rate of drug addictions being extremely exponential.
I think it’s generally people leaving colder climates and moving to warmer ones, of course exceptions apply.
From looking at the never ending traffic on the roads here, it looks like a lot of people are moving here to Texas.
Moving back to FL from IL was a no -brainer. The move paid for itself in 1 year...No More crazy IL income taxes, no more crazy property taxes and my vote actually counts here...
Welcome back God bless you and yours Jackie in North fl
Illinois where I was born and raised, my husband too. All of our family is here but the taxes, I gotta go. Many of my friends said when kids get into college they will leave!
My family's from IL and they all moved to Florida except me. I'd love to go, but it's so damn expensive down there and the humidity kills me. So I'm stuck in the most corrupt state in the Union where crime is rampant and it's as boring as Kansas.
Your vote counts in Florida? That sounds foolish.
ok fool, the idoit governor just reopened the state to spread more coronavirus.
I'm from long island New York and it just was way too expensive to afford to live there for a single mom of 3!! It's nice, but not worth the cost of living!!! Ridiculous AF! We moved to Delaware and now as an adult I live in Bethlehem PA with my husband!!
Is Bethlehem safe?
Bethlehem is depressing
I know West Virginia seems bad on paper but if you live here like me it really isn’t that bad. I wish people would stop bad mouthing us🙄
It’s not bad but there’s nothing there though
I get both of them confused. Idk anything about either. Is one more prosperous than the next? I'm sorry but I can't help but to think of wrong turn. But at least one of u birthed Pharrell. 🤔Where ever he's from 🤷🏻♀️
If John Denver wrote that song about West Virginia, it can't be all that bad.
Morgantown is like a nice little community and some people like that others don’t. Personally I’m happy in Texas but that’s just me. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Howdy neighbor love WVA!
Hawaii is no mystery as it has a constant exodus due to the high cost of living and overcrowding(traffic)
