Who needs a yacht? This man showed us a tour of his cockpit, galley, and owner’s cabin with full sized bed! All on a 14 foot inflatable! Seriously showed how much you can do, and that cauldron thermos is great.
Hey Matt, Thanks for the nice comment. lol - Living near a lot of USAF land (no access) - it's sometimes fun to stay on the boat. Life is short, gotta make memories - some day my grandkids will laugh and enjoy. Thanks for watching!
Hey Chris, you are my hero! Many people believe that adventure is only for young people and it's not! You are the prove that's not true. @@ChristopherQuest Hey Chris, thank you very much for your answer, even though that after I made the question I realized that you mention that in your video!lol.. Whatever, the thing is, I just got another boat, It is the BRIS 1.2mm PVC 12.5 ft heavy duty and. I was trying to take advantage of your experience about this because is the first time I bought a Bris brand, one that I am still waiting for the delivery. I already have two more, a mariner 4 and a bestway hydro force mirovia pro 130" , by the way, beautiful one the Mirovia but a little small. Thanks again Chris and happy adventures!

I have drifted faster than I can swim many times so your lanyard attaching you to your boat is a really good idea and I will be doing that from now on 👍😁👍thanks !
Hello Howard, cool, I got that from the Restless Viking who adventures around the great lakes. Thanks for watching!
Hey Chris, this is an awsome set up and exactly what I have been planning for later in the year. I am a keen Fisherman and think it would be a really good way of doing a little off shore fishing without the need for big boat storage. How about a tour of your boat showing how you have set it up and how you have installed everything especially the 12 volt take off from the engine. Great channel and thanks for the content all the way from Scotland 👍
Hello Harry, Thank you for watching, it is actually you all that has influenced my decision to adventure on this type of boat. I have another video or two on the Christopher Quest channel that look at some of the boat components. I am also preparing for a two or three night trip very soon. I will get more detailed on the electric system. Thank you again!
looks adventurous and fun

Hello R&M, Thanks and Thanks for watching!
Hello from Australia 🇦🇺 love ur work 👍👍
Hello Kung, I love Australia! Thank you for the nice comment. I appreciate it.
Chris, great adventure! You prepared well for your excursion. I've done something similiar boating solo the Apostle islands on Lake Superior. Half the fun was preparing well w equipment and emergency plans like you did. There are 22 islands with beautiful sand stone rock formations and most are within 2-3 miles of each other. I did it with a Saturn inflatable 14 ft. kaboat w a 3.5 hp Merc outboard, and traveled about 42 mi. I didn't camp in the boat. The islands are a National Park, and had designated campgrounds. I tent camped on two islands, and visited 2 others over 3 days. The islands do have large black bear populations, but had no problem. The weather was fine. Coming home though, I had to go through a 1.5 mile strait w 4 - 5 ft. waves. Once passed there were calm waters to the dock. It toke some navigation savvy but I did ok. Solo marine trips are great, just that you have to be organized and cover all the bases when planning.
Hello Jim, sounds like a great trip. Great idea to find those places that allow for tent camping as well. See my beach camping videos if you get a chance. This should be a great summer for more adventure, hope you get out again soon, I am working on it now. Thanks for watching!
Hey Chris - glad to see your new camping vid! I like your lithium thermos heater - pretty cool! I just got my new Garmin Striker 4 a few days ago - looks like you have the same. I don't have an emergency beacon but have a marine VHF radio. Your new 20 hp motor sounds really nice! And, everything else on your Bris was well thought out too! I guess if the sun was out more, you could do some island exploration and fishing too - next trip, for sure! Good job on the filming too!
Hello, weather for the next couple weeks looks bad with small breaks (I see one sunny day high of 60). I am considering something near Perdido Key or even Johnson Beach again - gulf side camping. Hopefully you will be able to make it down when Spring arrives!
Hey I love your post man !
Can wait to retire so I can do just that
Love it
Keep going
Hi Ford, Thanks and thanks for watching!
Nice my man! You inspire me to do the same. I've been looking into this and it is the first video I found. Hope you enjoy on the water and please be safe! :)
Hello David, I have had some fun times with this boat setup. Makes it nice to camp in a variety of places for sure. Thanks for watching!

Hey Chris love the video, riverboat camping combines my 2 favourite hobbies, camping and boats...love it🤘🏼
Could you tell us where u got your cauldron from please, that’s a handy bit of kit👌🏼😊
Hi Russell, Thanks for the nice compliment. The Cauldryn was available on Amazon - but I am not seeing it now. May be out of stock - not sure. Thanks for watching! Note the cauldryn spelling.
Nice one boss...
Thanks for watching!
I feel like I would be freaked out at night time lol. Looks cool though
Hey there, I would probably freak out if another boat came up in the night or I heard unexpected noises. Thanks for watching.
Why?
Hey Christopher. That is my dream also! I have a 3.3m inflatable boat which is enough for me or good for two people. With myself i have a place only for the accessories as like you. But your boat and its capability is awesome! I imagine how you enjoy while planning them one by one. Now, i am searching a cabin like yours. Hope i will find one and try overnight sleeping at once. Thanks and take care.
Hello Faith, your note made me smile. Thank you and I hope you do try it, it was fun and I am planning the next trip now. Thanks for watching.
Wow nice 👍👍👍,salute 🍻 from indonesia
Hello bastian, Thanks for watching - it was fun.
You can get a left side and a right side of them sleeping bags and can zip them together I have a pair the are rated for - 35 and a liner for then that drop them down to -45 and have used them in -40 without the liner when I was sleeping in my truck in Alaska and was very toasty worm
Hello Robert, Great idea, the more room the better for sure. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
King size water bed...!🙂
Hi Clear, Your right, it can get wavy out there. Thanks for watching!
Looks like thier a lot of wind in your boat could never sleep in it in the uk ... but i love your videos told my wife going buy a sib do sort of same stuff but no youtube keep up the good work
Hey Aaron, I appreciate the comment, new boat coming soon, maybe it would work!. Thanks for watching
Great set up! Love the videos I’m not far from you just north of Ebro Howe is the briss holding up? Thinking about getting one thanks.
Hello! The Bris is doing fine after three years - I have left it inflated with the floors in until jusrt recently. I see now that I had some wear from the floor in the transom that I added a layer of PVC (patch) to reinforce. Honestly, for the money I think they are a great value. It's not a stryker or a zodiac but it is also 1/3 the cost and I have certainly got my moneys worth!. Thanks for watching!
Hi Chris Great video! I just got a Bris 12.5 What weight is your anchor? Would you ever consider adding a stern anchor to keep you from swinging? And do you have nav lights? I've seen some led strip lights that I'm thinking of adding.
Hi Sharon, Cool you have a 12.5! I use a 15lb anchor - kind of a navy style. I needed a stern anchor during this trip - yes it would be a good idea. I do have Nav lights - I will include them on the next trip - I only had the stern light attached but the bow light was in a gear bag. They are simple battery powered. Thanks for watching!
Sweet Youngblood’s jacket.
Hi Ary, I am a fan of Brodie and Stryda. You are the only person that noted that. They are awesome. Thanks for watching.
Smart rigging, think you're going to enjoy that boat- mosquito control - for season? Nothing like the shakedown on a new motor/boat combo.
Hi Mark, Thanks for the note. You are right I need to think about mosquito control - I will need a lot of netting! It was a lot of fun.
That was good thank you. A Mike with a dead cat would make it mor easy to watch. I use DJI mic set after using Rhode and other mic’s DJI are the best to me. Not cheap. Lol. Love the canopy over your boat. I was thinking if you lay on the floor even on your (automatic blow up air be I think) if it did rain lots of water would floods in. Then you showed us what the alloy ladders style things where for, brilliant. I have wanted to try this even without the canopy lots of lads use tents. Love that heated soup flask BTW real cool or hot lol. Thanks for sharing Ray K UK 🇬🇧 YNWA.
Hello Ray, good idea on the sound. I really need to get it better and not annoying. The aluminum pieces are from the hardware store - branded Planks and used as 6' scaffolding items. Thanks for the interest and apprecite it. Thanks for watching! Cool to get a UK comment!
@@ChristopherQuest What is the name of your soup heater ? if I can get one here I will. How many heat ups do you get from one charge ? If you want to watch some cool stuff take an interest in a Scot called Donny Wilcox by fare the best on here, Bit of a loner but wow you will be amazed at the scenery. People don't think there is nice places but I do Scotland every year and if I was to close your eyes and warp you to one of the 175 isles you would think you where in the Caribbean. Thanks for the reply. Ray K .
@@raykeogh1972 The warmer is branded "Cauldryn" seems to be tough to find right now for some reason. Guess what, I am a subscriber to Donny Wilcox, awesome videos of Scotland. Thanks Ray and Thanks again for watching!
@@ChristopherQuest I’ve just looked up heavy duty cargo net. Weight 0.2kg 5x2m that’s double the size needed for me £15 on Amazon. Cheapest bed ever lol.
That is pretty cool. You have thought of just about everything. Was it just a one night experiment or something that you see as viable for continued camping? I would love to see a video of your breakdown of the boat for storage. I like the idea of an inflatable for minimum garage storage requirements.
Hi Scott, I am planning a multiple night trip to use the boat and a land based tent possibly. I will keep a breakdown video in mind, but do not plan to take it apart till the end of this next season. Thanks for watching!
I have this tent. But it's not fully rain proof. Water soaks into the black porous fabric around the windows and drips through. Leaks at the seams. Leaks at opening where it connects to the bimini frame. Leaks through the zippers. Great for shade and wind though on a sunny day. Works ok for light rain perhaps. Very light rain only.
Hi Atreu, You are so right on this, if you see my video on storm camping on the beach I used a land based tent - had I been in the boat with this cover - I would have been in a precarious situation. Definitely the Aleko cover is not meant for heavy rainstorms. Agreed Thanks for watching!
Hi I was thinking about getting one like you got and try to put it on my jon boat it says 6feet x 5feet is that 5 feet where the poles connect to your boat.
Hello Raymond, My boat measures about 4' 10" where I hook up the poles, so 5' should work fine for width. Thanks for watching! The cover is a fun addition for sure.
You ever try to travel with everything set up and zipped up? How is it and what’s the speed difference like if so
I have and check my previous videos as I have a short clip in there - I think when going to Fort McRee. I did not go really fast but it seems to work great as slow speeds anyway. Thanks for watching!
Where abouts are you..
Giving thought to doing this too .with a popout tent .and a inflatable kayak ..lol.
Hello Irene! This was at Spectre Island on the ICW near Fort Walton Beach, FL. Crazy but fun! Thanks for watching!
I wish i knew outdoorsy people like you, I've always since a kid wanted to do outdoorsy things but no one at all to do them w , im too scared to go anywhere ALONE. Anyways, Love your video, goodluck on all your trips🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hello! Thank you for watching and I hope you find that person that loves adventure. The world is waiting!
@@ChristopherQuest thank you sweetie i pray i do as well🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Nice video. What pitch did you go with to maintain the max rpm of 5,400-6,100? I know that these boats are not intended for speed but with the correct pitch prop what top speeds are you seeing and is the Bris 14.1 stable?
Hello Beach, On this video I have a Merc 9.9 which originally came with a 8.5 pitch - I got about ~5000 when the boat was loaded. I switched to a 7.0 and got ~6000 rpm and she would top out about 18mph and cruise around 15mph, not bad for this engine and boat. Love that engine. Thanks for watching!
Did you have any issues installing with the Aleko canopy on the Bris boat? Do you think it would fit on a Saturn Inflatable boat?
Hello, it was relatively easy once it was dry fitted over the top to see where I needed to mount the supports. The bris has a heavy lip that I was able to drill and use to hold the supports. Not sure about Saturn. Good luck! Thanks for watching !
How does that setup do with moisture? Very nice video, thanks
Hello gerard, the top It is not the greatest in the rain, but because it hangs to the side of the boat leaks tend to run down the sides. Not intended for serious rain. I would throw a Rain Fly of some type on top and watch for pooling water. Thanks for watching!
hey i am wondering what the demensions for the aleko cover you have, was going to buy a boat myself. i see they have a 13.8ft cover for aleko. is that what you are using? and does it fit well with the 3 inch difference
Hello Brimestone, Yes, I have the 13.8 cover on the 14.1. It fits surprisingly well, not perfect, but very good. I just drilled a hole through the thick pvc runner that holds the rope grommets. This works well for the Aluminum frame. Make sure you put those holes in the right place. Enjoy!
@@ChristopherQuest thanks for your help! Glad I found your video
Chris for something as important as that cup of coffee in the morning I would use a small coffee press there about the size of your little cooker! I’ve fished a 13’ zodiac in Alaska for 30 years never put much in it though needed all the room for big fish🤚🏻“””””””””””””””✋🏻!!!
Hey Joe, good idea on the coffee press. I would love to experience fishing in Alaska someday, sounds great. Thanks for watching!
you should of braved the storm for some great and exciting content , maybe next time
Hello Robert, I do have a video out there on the beach in a storm, you will have to check out the old man on the sand trying to stay dry! Thanks for watching!
Hey Christopher, that’s a sweet setup ! I have a 10 foot inflatable and an Aleko weather cover like yours but nothing to attach the V supports to. What does your Vsupports attach to? Thank you
Hello Robert, I tried to attach a photo, no luck. The boat has a strip of double thick pvc material that runs around the top edge of the boat and hold the safety rope. I simply looked when I nneded the connection and drilled a hole in this flap of material, it has held up extremely well now for a couple years. Next video I have the 14.1, I'll show the hookup. Thanks for watching!
also, on my homepage you can kinda see it if you zoom in..
@@ChristopherQuest ok cool, thank you so much! My boat doesn’t have that strip so I’ll be glueing something on it.
No doubt you are very experienced and very organized - thanks for giving us novice a know how but I do have a question...
I couldnt see your port and starboard light and your stern light which should have been above bimini level so that is seen 360 degree ( coast guard and international regulations)
Please do comment on what is ur experience and view about this.
Hi Sammy, Thank you for the complement, but I am a real novice too. You are absolutely correct, the light needs to be visible 360 deg. and should be above the bimini. I will be sure to note that in my next video - hopefully not too long - an I will be raising the light as well. Thanks so much for the note. Thanks for watching!
@@ChristopherQuest You are very good - learnt a lot and will continue to watch and observe. I am novice, a newbie in boat but carefully trying to learn my ropes - thanks a lot and God Bless You !

Did those shelves over the transom come on your boat? I wish I had something like that
Hello J, I just cut some 1/2" plywood, sanded, painted and attached, pretty easy to make really. Thanks for watching! I'll try to remember to show detail of how I attached on a upcoming video.
@@ChristopherQuest thanks! I’ll be sure to tune in!
What size is the aleko canopy?
Hello, It is listed at 13.8'. I don't see them on amazon right now. You may be able to find at another on-line store. It fits pretty good. Aleko sells their own boats that they are actully made to fit. Thanks and Thanks for watching!
Nice and cozy. Only thing you didn’t mention was a well.........., I see you didn’t have a port-a-potty. 🤔
Hey USP, lol - the one thing not many talk about. I actually have a 5 gal bucket with a snap lid and special bags available at camping stores. they sell a seat just for this purpose too. I keep it under the inflatable seat - fits perfect. Thanks for watching!
When you are using an external gas tank, do you usually have gas in the outboard or only used that external tank or both? Thanks
Hello! The engine does not have a internal tank so a external tank is always necessary. This is true for the 9.9hp Merc and 20hp Tohatsu. Thanks again for watching!
@@ChristopherQuest So when you are done boating ... When you disconnect the line from the motor, does fuel still stay in the motor itself, do you need to drain she excess of you are planning on storing it for the winter? Thanks
@@NghiaPham-xi5so Hello, The 9.9hp has a carburetor with a float bowl so I will run the engine disconnected from the gas tank till the fuel in the float bowl are used up. The 20hp is fuel injected and therefore it is not necessary to disconnect and run the gas out. I am no expert, this is just the way I do it. Both get flushed with with fresh water after saltwater use. Thanks!
@@ChristopherQuest Thanks for your insight!
I appreciate you. hard work. I'm on your way too. Will I buy a boat soon? :) if not, should I buy a boat first? :)
