I caught catfish on the Palouse a number of years ago trolling orange Wigglewarts for walleye on the 4th of July, 8 to 10lb average. when I cleaned them they were full of crayfish. Delicious- rivalled any walleye I've eaten.

When I was a kid there were lots of catfish in the Palouse river near Potlatch, Idaho.

We launch across from the mouth at Lyons Ferry, which I would not recommend crossing in your craft. Very windy and choppy. I am not aware of a launch site on the other side of the Snake closer to the mouth of the Palouse.

I don't. I believe it would be state land so I kind of doubt it, but I don't know. A cool place to camp if you could.

To be honest I didn't notice the rods the guide had us use. Medium/heavy, 8 ft spinning rods I would say would do just fine.

Great video! I'm planning on coming out there in the next week, but I've never fished it. I don't have anything but a 30lb thrust trolling motor for my smokercraft, so I was planning on bank fishing. Do you know if the area up from the mouth is public access and fishable?

Great video. What kind of rods are your favorite for that area?
