Steve, love the videos on both channels. I live on the Texas Gulf Cost and we get a mess of the halibut little cousins, flounders. I'm handicapped now, but one day I'm coming up to try my hand at those guys. Thank you for what you do both here and sharing with the people!! Stay safe and don't let them get to you!
I used to live at Port Arthur Tx. We used to get Flounder when the ships would come into ship channel & pull all the water away from the edge. Use a net & be quick before the water comes back like a title wave. Had a blast. I live in INDIANA & love to fish here. I love to eat all kinds of fish but up here I like Crappy
From Ohio. I was fortunate to go to Alaska, went to Homer and fished for salmon and Halibut, great time. The 5 pound sinker we used was heavier than most fish we get around here, except catfish. Fishing up north will spoil a.guy for sure! Glad you got yours Steve.
While visiting on Kodiak Island, Alaska, a friend went out fishing early in the morning. Brought back a halibut he filleted on the dock, told me to cook it for lunch. I baked it, refrigerated it then made it just like my homemade tuna salad, it was delisious, cleaner and sweeter than tuna salad. Recipe may not be original with me, I just never heard of it before. Another lady up there made jars of pickled squid which, to my surpise, tasted very good, not fishy at all.
Absolutely loved watching Steve fish. It was pleasantly different and I enjoyed seeing the halibut and imagining it was me fishing instead of Steve. LMBO 🤣😄
Gosh darn it, My State is a great State, in my area we have at least 20-28 days of +100*(37.78*C) heat index, upper 90's with humidity over 70% usually around 80-90%. Fantastic exercise for your core and diaphragm. Just taking a deep breath builds muscles. Steve, I use a 5 pound test line, when I fish seriously. 5 pounds = 2.27 kg. I will now have to join Bobby Ho and his dad fishing in the gulf, by oil rigs now. Which means, I will actually have to complete some work in the shop, sometime, somewhere. Work is a four letter word, Grandmother told me not to have anything to do, with four letter words, and I have tried to be most assiduous to her wishes.
Good job Steve! I love hunting but my 1 true outdoor passion is to fish. I was raised on a small river & fished it & the many creeks in our area, then graduated to lake only fishing & I’ve finally came back to creek fishing w/my youngest son & grandson. Man wish I could be there with ya!! Nothin & I mean nothin’ is better than fresh fish!!! Be careful out there but keep at it & have fun!!
Thanks for sharing. All flattys are good table fare. 500 hp , duel kicker motors are cool. The helm facing backwards is crazy!! I know it's not the primary for control of the vessel but I have never seen this set up before. I'm sure it works great for backing down on fish. Very cool
My brother hat offf to you for being a good enough boat's man to get out there in the big water....You are a brave man...I llike to eat fish too...I j catch them from shore....You have a great channel...Keep it up
Awesome, I like the longer leader on the weight. I'm trying that next time for sure. I noticed you use your spreader bars in an untraditional way as well. Any reason why?
Very similar set up to how we sometimes fish on river banks and channel cuts. Only, we usually use live bait and nets. Still gotta play the current and the wind.
Hey Steve What's up with the double kickers. I have one kicker mounted because only one engine. Its a get me home kicker because I run 50-70 out into the Atlantic.
Happy 4th of July Steve! I'm not that knowledgeable about species and what ocean they are in but do you ever get orange ruffie or red snapper where you fish? My two favorites 😍. The halibut is good eating though. Sarah is gonna have her hands full dreaming up recipes 🤗
Not like going to the seafood section & getting those frozen fillets. Can't beat the freshness & quality of those catches, Do you bleed them ever? Thanks for posting
Does Halibut hit the line like a salmon? How do you know when you got one? Don’t they usually linger at the bottom? Love that you included some fishing videos! Judy from Washington!

The chicken halibuts are the best eating. 25-50 lbs. The bigger they are the wormier and tougher. Some halibut live for decade. My dad was a commercial fisherman in SE Alaska and would take his pistol. The halibut would be so large they could damage your boat so he just shot them. We use to laugh when we told down states people we fished with guns.
I hate to be that guy but I'm wondering if anyone has done tests on these bottom feeders for heavy metals ? I know Sailfish and Tuna are carriers of loads of heavy metals.
I'm praying you will hook & land a "Barn Door" for the round table to enjoy watching real soon...until then, enjoy the Chicken Coop Doors! -Cpt. Stubing
It's incomprehensible to me how YOU, YOU, an avid outdoorsman, a guide, a boat owner no less, does NOT have a PFD on at all times. Specially more of a head scratcher when you are out on the water by yourself. The repercussions of such a decision are difficult to think about. smh

That’s crazy pickled squid they use for sturgeon bait in rivers, guess you can eat it if it’s prepared right👍
A proper life Steve! Thank you for sharing and inspiring, have a fantastic week mate! Paul.

Good stuff, Is there a minimum length for possessing a Halibut?
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Tight lines, stay safe.
Does Halibut hit the line like a salmon? How do you know when you got one? Don’t they usually linger at the bottom? Love that you included some fishing videos! Judy from Washington!
the rod tip works away from the current, you've got something tinkering with the line.
What is your max in one for catching fish 🐟 out at sea or ocean.
Side whack!
you crack me up. Poor little fishy .

Dang I wish Sarah was there to give the trusty ole dry heave
LOVE halibut.
How do you catch hundreds of halibut? One at a time.
I didn’t know about bonking before the gaf trick.
The chicken halibuts are the best eating. 25-50 lbs.

Hello 👋 how are you doing?
Is your boat in Friday Harbor?
What kind of fish is that Steve, or is part of your fish bait. Are you using it to catch a bigger fish.
Those are Pacific Halibut and are eaten. Those are just smaller ones but very tasty.
