Gnoggin, hosted by its creator Lockstin, is a show delving into the mysteries of Pokemon! (and other games sometimes too). Explaining everything there is to explain! Why is each Pokemon given the type it has? What are their origins? What is the lore of the Pokemon world and the design inspirations? And what does it all have to do with alchemy? Let's Go find out! - Ігри
When that blue lizard mythical is revealed, Lockkstin is going to have a fit.
Gentleman Vox ITS GONNA BE A LOCKNESS MONSTER MYTHICAL
@@scraggytv That actually makes a lot of sense. Just have to make sure it's different enough from Lapras.
Motivational Lizard
Watch it be Grass/Fighting to compliment Calyrex and Zarude, lol. But that seems just as likely as another Loch Ness mon after Gmax Lapras (and arguably Gmax Inteleon b/c of the height aspect).

Personally, when zarudes silhouette and official art were revealed, I immediately thought that its based on an aye aye, an endangered species of lemur, that has been hunted due to belief that they were considered to be evil or have dark omens, which would be fitting for the dark type
I thought that zarude is based on spider monkey or abyssinian colobus.
Yeah I thought Lemur.
I thought it was Miss Simian.
Also a lame video game
I feel like if it was based on the aye-aye it would have the aye-ayes main characteristic: the long middle finger, but that’s probably just me.
Interesting thing to note: considering the “rogue monkey” Pokémon that Zarude is, the fact that it has a similar naming structure to Zacian and Zamazenta... what if Zarude is directly connected to them? As in, it’s wearing “royal” purple. What if it was a companion of the throne but was lost to time like the two legendary wolves?
Maybe it has some relation to them, but turned evil. Or maybe it was cast off and turned evil as a result.
Maybe it betrayed Zacian and Zamazenta, hence the "rogue" in its name
Zarude has a gun
remember how there where leaves in the reveal trailer for the wolves?
Maybe they'll reveal a "Crowned" form for it later on (doubt it, though).
Isn’t it obvious? It is none other than Mojo Jojo, Townville’s greatest villain!
Oh no call the powerpuff girls
It’s the monkey teacher from the amazing world of Gumball
Its king Julian's evil cousin
Wait, omg the powerpuf girls have the same colors as the starters.

When I first saw the trailer-aside from the gorilla/monkey look-Zarude also reminded me of an Aye-aye as well. Commonly associated with evil in Madagascar folklore, they were usually killed to prevent misfortune-which unfortunately means it made it to the Endangered species list a lot faster. They are primarily nocturnal with super long claws-specifically their middle finger-to forage for insects. Definitely fits the dark-type vibe.
Killing innocent creatures over dumb supersticions that have no proof or basis is just BS. Aye-ayes are also kinda cute in a freaky way, that's not fair! 😡
Cintrón Productions Unfortunately with many years of that superstition pushed into a culture generation after generation, its hard to get past those primal fears and ideologies especially based on economic levels and education available to the population. (And sometimes even that can’t fight ignorance.) Luckily conservation efforts are being made for aye-ayes now that we have enough people using their “Gnoggins” (I’m sorry I had to say it! 😂)
Do you remember the release trailer of the legendaries? How both of them look into the trees after leaves are shaken up? Could this be Zarude?
We now have Grafaiai in G9 that looks like a Dark-type, but they feel compelled enuf to make it the 1st Poison/Normal.

Interesting, the first theory I heard is that Zarude was based on Spring-heeled Jack.
- British urban legend
- Black color with the same upper ribs pattern
- Said to have a "terrifying and frightful appearance"
- "Clawed hands" and "eyes that resembled red balls of fire"
- And Zarude can grow vines from the soles of its feet, which could give it a spring-heel jump
You covered the ape/monkey side of it thoroughly, but I think there's a chance that Spring-heeled Jack could have been an inspiration as well.
Zarude is the lamest pokemon ever we don't need anymore mythicals they suck

zarude was my old sleep paralysis demon I'm not even joking.
CONTEXT: when I was younger, I used to have a sleep paralysis demon and witness some pretty scary stuff. My sleep paralysis demon was named "the monkey monster." The appearance of it was that it had completely black fur, sharp claws, sharp teeth, red eyes, and even a snouted nose like zarude. There was even multiple monkey monsters, but the most I have seen at the same time was maybe 2-4. I dont completely remember because it was years ago. The first time I had seen Zarude I instantly thought "hey it's the monkey monster." The only thing differing between them is that Zarude had those arm vines but the monkey monster doesnt. Also, I know it may sound ridiculous, but I explicitly remember a dream I had where I became friends with it, and ever since then it has been gone [although I'm not completely sure if this ACTUALLY happened.] The good thing is that I haven't seen it at all anymore, but I get sleep paralysis once every blue moon. Strangely, I kinda miss it. Even though it was outright horrifying to me when I was a kid, it’s interesting to think of how much this has affected my life, and how I’m still able to remember it to this day. I’ll be looking forward to meeting him once again.
Are you a fortune teller?
It must have terrifying to think your sleep paralysis demon is now in a video game.

The first thing I thought when I say Zarude was “Every single bug type is gonna have a field day this this guy”
If Zarude wants to be viable with the large presence of U-turn and First Impression, he's gonna need to have Rock Slide or Acrobatics to beat those bugs. Hopefully he can learn such moves.
Cintrón Productions agreed, U-Turn is probably my favorite move of all time so it needs some amount of coverage

Zarude - Leafstorm.
I came specifically for this
5:27, y'know speaking of Tarzan. When I first saw Zarude, he immediately reminded me of Zugor from Disney's Tarzan II. I mean, think about it. Zugor is an ape who is rude by nature to most, lives on his own for the most part, loves scaring others but also took it upon himself to teach Tarzan a few things about fending for himself.

0:16 to promote pokemon movie: koko, a movie that hasn’t even been officially announced in america yet
The movie looks gorgeous, and my son Greedent is in it, hopefully it's a great movie.
I'm a bit iffy on Koko given how it looks to have a lot of slightly racist "wow tribal people are so primitive and therefore interesting to watch!" vibes to it. Then again Japan as a country has always been and still is... well, not necessarily racist, but just generally unaware of other cultures' history. So they probably don't mean any harm by it. Still comes across as a bit weird though.
@@bugjams how is it racist again?

Kirby was the last name of the lawyer that helped Nintendo out of a lawsuit about DK infringing on King Kong though you may have been able to draw that from context clues

But it is a based in both an elk and a hare, just look at his body shape
yeah a jackelope instead of rabbit. basically different animals. what was really disappointing was the box legendaries being almost the same pokemon but different colors and weapons
@@royfauntleroy7696 they made it like that because they're full counterparts, like it cant be one without the other, almost like zekrom and reshiram except not fused in the past, but essentially the two side guardians of the galarian kingdom
@@babel_UV that's crazy cause i don't remember that at all in the story. all i remember is them saying they were legends lost in time. idk where you found that out but if it's true, that's cool, i guess. we've had mons before be 2 sides of the same coin and have completely different designs though. especially for ome wielding a sword and one wielding a shield...why have a dog hold a sword in its mouth? i just don't like the design choice at all
@@royfauntleroy7696 it's just a very medieval European thing to do, it's not the prettiest, but it represents well the oddities of myths at the time
When zarude was revealed i was like : finally a cool looking grass type mythical!! Grass is one of my favorite types so I was really happy!
Same but Im mixed about its ability being Leaf Guard. Sure its decent for doubles but unless you have a strategy revolving around sunny day then its next to useless. "Protects against status conditions in harsh sunlight."
Could be worse, it could have gotten the Grass starter ability Overgrowth...
Maybe his hidden ability is Sand Stream... XD
Overactive Imagination well I am more of just a casual player and I admire Pokémon’s designs and inspirations more than battling capability.

Simple answer:
Zarude is actually Miss Simian. :3
Now we need a Principal Brown Pokemon for -Ms. Simian- Zarude to love.
As a Native American myself, i appreciate the true facts and true history about the Mohawk tribes and the Haudenosaunee people you put in some of your videos. Researching is very important when it comes to the history of what happened to them.
"It treats anything that isn't part of it's pack with immediate hostility, attacking right away"
This reminds me of Snatcher from A Hat in Time in a way. Because if you think about it, he treats pretty much anything that isn't a Subconite (who are his minions and quite possibly his subects) or Dweller with 'hostility' by basically doing a 'deal with the devil' kinda scheme: he has them sign contracts to do some stuff in exchange for not killing them and then kills them anyway. What I think is the reason for this (and I'm pretty sure others, or at least a specific fanfic author, think this as well 'cuz it's pretty logical) is that he does it to keep his 'subjects' safe from any potential threat by building up a reputation for being a big, evil demon-like thing and then getting rid of potential threats that for some reason go into his forest anyways (the reason why this is logical is because he was a prince when he was alive; but his ex, Queen Vanessa, went crazy and killed him over a misunderstanding. It's quite likely the Subconites were once his subjects when alive, and the Dwellers DEFINITELY were, but Vanessa more than likely killed them, so he probably feels sorry for them and tries to keep them safe from any other dangers.) Now, you may be thinking "This is a Pokemon video, why are you commenting this here?" and here's my answer: I'm wondering if maybe (the chance is extremely slim though) Zarude might be doing something similar to what Snatcher was doing. He might be trying to protect his pack from potential dangers by building up a reputation for being a bad guy, but in actuality he's just doing his best to be a good, protecting leader. Maybe Zarude has a similar backstory to Snatcher or something. I mean, there's the purple thing mentioned in the video, and SNATCHER IS LITERALLY PURPLE!! So maybe like Snatcher, Zarude has some sort of royal connection. Idk though, it probably isn't the case, but there is a small chance maybe.
I like this speculation
Why have all these past videos correlated perfectly with my history classes?
Just to inform you, when you see the word 'shire' at the end of a country name, it's pronounced 'sher'. Think New Hampshire. You don't say New Hamp-SHIRE, but New Hamp-SHER.
oh nice, thanks. my only exprience with hearing the word is with the shire from LOTR.
Being a west coaster, I havent thought about New Hampshire since 2nd grade or so.
Are you shire about that?
Really depends on accent, I know a few people who pronounce it -shire not -sher, but they have really "posh & proper" british accents so that's probably why, everyone else I know (including me) pronounce it -sher
@@Gnoggin it's ok I forgot about it too until late 2019

So…King Kong WAS Godzilla vs King Kong?…
Celebi, Latios/Latias, and Shaymin are also very abundant. Mythical status probably refers to 'mythical qualities' of the pokemon as perceived by humans. Shaymin being related to tales of graciousness, celebi for their time-powers and appearances in times of peace, and latios/latias being the guardians of that one town after being rescued in their human forms(For Western Audiences this scene was cut from the movie, sorry).
Some legendaries/mythicals seem to be single, unique entities. However, having multiple of mythicals/ certain legendaries (however rare) makes alot of sense too. Context is the most important.

I'd have thought Lockstin would have seen the eastern connection between all of this gen's za pokemon. zarude is a monkey, zacian and zamazenta are dogs. and in japan those two fighting is kind of a common trope. Given that the two have types that counter Zarude's dark it makes you wonder.

VERY few modern pokemon are 'literally just a....' which is awesome.
