@@kerrywien6775 There are many, many, *many* Pokemon based on Myths and Legends that aren't classified as Legendary. Hydreigon is based on the Yamata-no-Orochi (japanese Hydra), Corviknight is Odin's ravens, etc. So that's a non-factor. Number of individuals isn't relevant either. Even since Gen 1, there's been proof of that being the case. Artificial Legendary Pokemon could be replicated. With the right materials, you could make a new Mewtwo (modify Mew's DNA), Genesect (find a fossil + Tech upgrades), Type: Full (use Aether Fnd's blueprints, like Macro Cosmos did), etc. Other Legendaries have been shown to Canonically have multiple copies of them. Manaphy can reproduce, creating more Manaphy or Phione. Shaymin had an entire population in the Giratina movie. The 1st 3 Regis have multiple copies of them made by Regigigas across the globe, possibly even Regieleki too. Diance is just Carbink's Queen, a mutation caused every certain amount of time. Lugia had a baby in the series. The Galarian Bird trio shows that there are multiples of them. Solgaleo and Lunala reproduce, creating more Cosmogs (you can even do it in-game once). Meltans are literally poping-up uncontrollably from a special Box in Go. Etc. Heck, not even Base Stat Total matter. Usually most lower Legendary Trio members would have 580, which is outclassed by regular mons like Pseudo Legendaries and Slaking. Urshifu has 550 BST, pretty low for a Legendary, but others have even less. Sylvally has 570BST, and the absolute lowest is Cosmog with 200 BST, that's as weak as Magikarp and weaker than a Metapod. The only real reason for a Legendary to be classified Legendary, is that Pokemon (as in the whole franchise and company) recognizes them as Legendary. Urshifu at least has the role of protectors and a whole game story dedicated to them, which is more than what we got for others

This is definitely one of my favorite videos of yours, I learned so much! Also, I'd be interested to hear more about the Galarian legendary birds that have been revealed (Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres). I was quite surprised to see that they were getting new forms, and interested in why they look the way they do, or why legendaries are getting Galarian forms in the first place. I know they were only shown off, though, and nothing was said about them, so it would be difficult to find a lot of information
I think fans have been putting so much focus on connecting British and English and general european references to the Pokemon that in this NEW pokemon generation people forgot pokemon pulls origins from all over (safari zone anyone?). I feel like this is the first game that's been the most specific to real world region references and easter eggs tho
Another thing to take note of is that Asian Black Bears are the most bipedal of all bears, known to be able to walk on their hind legs for long periods of time where as other bears only get on their hind legs for certain tasks. Even though the only bear Pokémon to NOT be bipedal is stufful, I still think it’s an important note to take especially since Urshifu is very stance and martial arts based.
I find it a little odd that for the entire video you only referred to a single style of gongfu, Shaolin, instead of noting different styles. Like you could have included Xingyi, Bagua, Taichi, or Wingchun for the rapid-strike style (since those are actually internal styles). You mentioned different animals UNDER Shaolin but not any other styles.
not only did i learn so much from this video in general, i learned why the lead cast of the movie kung fu panda are the animals they are. which happens to be my favourite movie (well. one of) love the videos!

My Urshifu (because my demonic self decided to go to the Isle early, get him and make him that will bit more powerful) can use BOTH Single and Rapid Strike form! That came in handy when my trippy ass brain decided to pit him and my overpowered Lucario up against Dorian from the 2018 Netflix Baki, who gave them a hard time, to put it MILDLY.
Kubfu and Urshifu's Dark form are just Pancham and Pangoro all over again. And why is it that the other Urshifu gets to be Water typed but not Grapploct? 🤣🤣🤣

I do not play pokemon games. As such I had no idea this pokemon existed. As a practitioner of leopard fist kung-fu, it made me very happy to see lockstin correctly identify the half moon fist of leopard style that this pokemon uses.
I'm pretty sure that both styles were modeled after Virtua Fighters' Akira and Lion's styles. Virtua Fighter was a huge sensation in Japan and it's pop culture even though it's relatively unknown in the US. Single Strike Style is definitely based on Akira's Bajiquan (Eight Extremities Fist) due to the upwards elbow strike and that left rake hand. Rapid Strike Style matches Lion's Northern Praying Mantis style. The stance and stretched index finger hand shape.
I finally beat Pokémon Sword not to long ago so now I don't have to worry about spoilers. Also I finally got around to watching the Pokémon theories I missed so now I can finally watch your theories as they come out.

It’s just a kung fu bear and there’s so many urshifu roaming around the globe protecting temples. I’m pretty sure that legendary pokemon is one of a kind or there’s few of them, but urshifu has a pre-evolution and this means that there’s so many of them, that’s suspicious of a legendary pokemon of being too many, because of this, urshifu doesn’t suit the title of legendary pokemon.
8:24: guess what else has seven stars? The dippers
Me: marshadow's z-move seven-star soul-stealing strike
After this, can u plz do Zacian and Zamazenta explained? So for, Dobbs was the only one to try a deep explaination and it wasn't that good
Just listening to all of th norse myths makes me realize how accurate the dad of war was when integrating the norse myths into the god of war universe. I recall mimir talking about a giant eagle and the frost giant as well as Odin hanging himself trying to gain knowledge. On the other hand, the greek myths there almost as fast and loose as the Disney's Hercules.
mmmm they also twist a lot of norse myths. almost as much as they did with the greeks tho. its fine its a game

You also noticed that xD
This is really interesting to see Urshifu inspiration
11:34 uh oh. My "it all comes together" senses are tingling

13:26 there it is lol
I will freaking nickname my Urshifu “Po” just for the reference
you better! haha
But it isn’t a Panda.
Josh Castic Show it’s a bear and kung fu......let it happen
Has everyone forgotten Pangoro exists?
@@blackman2101 Pangoro is a banchou, not a kung fu martial artist... Why do you think it's dark type? The fighting type is because banchous are known for brawling, speaking with their fists instead of words.
7:05 I've studied kenpo as a kid and I don't know a single block that looks like that. It kind of looks like a deviation of a mid/torso block being turned into a high/head block by bending the elbow, which you're not supposed to do when doing a mid/torso block, not to mention it's kind of a bad way to protect your face as a hard enough impact would send your own fist into your face, mitigated only by the position of the fist which could still potentially cause severe thumb damage or have your thumb poke your eye if you're especially unlucky...
Northern mythology, seven stars, fights using fists. I do really feel like there is a refrence to be made here... Something along the lines of "ATATATATATATATATA!" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )

"They represent the end, and the beginning." You mean... The Azoth?
The project azoth is in ORAS, so it’s a coincidence right ?
Pokémon have so many theories that turned out to be true, and The Azoth is one of them.
I love them as well now, do “Why Pokemon G-max”
4:44 "Odin needed to lessen himself." Okay, now that whole "Odin sacrificed himself to Odin" thing makes sense.
With a lot a of mentioning of dark spirits revolving around Urshifu's design as well as their descriptions, it's leading me to believe that there might be an evil spirit-esque Pokemon that could be the antagonist of the Isle of Armor.
No that's just Klara.
to think, eternatus was such a big threat in the past that not only the box legendaries went against but the Urshifus and Calyrex went against it. Urshifu is said to banish hostile spirits and said hostile spirit was eternatus. Makes you wonder what the third hypothetical legendary will be for scarlet and violet and how deadly it will be
What I've gathered from this video is that I now understand the inspiration behind the Furious Five.
Urshifu's two styles could also be a reference to Ken( water style) and Akuma( dark style).
Still waiting for a video on Eternatus and it's Eternamax form.
Really wanna see what you can come up with
Thanatos gets mentioned a lot, but how about Nidhogg since Eternatus is a serpent that brings the Darkest Day?
@@autobotstarscream765
Exactly, lemme see what else can he find.
I already know the more "basic" stuff.
It's inspired by the Real Hydra, the Mythical Hydra, The Evil Euro-Dragon fought at the end of most Euro-folktales, Thanatos, Giants, and some Death-themed stuff, even the Serpent (can't remember the name) that eats the World Tree and causes Ragnarok fits (since both Wolfs also seem to have Norse inspiration)
But I'm sure there's much more to it, Main-Plot Pokemon always have some deep research put into them.
Maybe he will find some Alchemy symbolism, or an explanation as to why the Hydra form looks like a Hand

There are many, many, *many* Pokemon based on Myths and Legends that aren't classified as Legendary.
RIP Alcremie, she couldn't hit the the bear with its 4x weakness fast enough.
It all comes together! Again! Can't wait for another hours long breakdown!

ARMOR GUN
13:29 HE SAID IT, HE SAID THE LINE
Bruh the DLC ain’t even out yet and there’s already a theory? Dang XD
2 made by him
We have already managed to piece together the Inspirations for Crown Tundra, it's not surprising a theory about the Kung fu bears has already been made
Druid T I know I’m saying it’s cool how people can do it that quick XD
It's not out yet? I was just playing shield and it has a permanent advertisement for it in game, along with a galarian slowpoke scene to show you that you have to buy the dlc to go there and get "other cool, new powerful Pokemon and a training area"
Devin Asher Sadly it’s not out yet, that’s just an ad to pre-order it. The first part comes out in June and the next this fall
I imagine Urshifu being this stoic kung fu master who also doesn't know much about the modern world.
Rapid style is similar to fist of flowing water: crushing rock

*”Every body was Kubfu fighting!!!!”*
This has to work on at least one person.
Kubfu and Urshifu's Dark form are just Pancham and Pangoro all over again. And why is it that the other Urshifu gets to be Water typed but not Grapploct? 🤣🤣🤣
10:31 though it is the only one he has a wagon in.

“The bear you never knew”

Urshifu became one of my favorite pokemon the moment I learned about of it
He stole grapplocts typing
And that cannot be forgiven
Grapploct: (sad "I smell cheese")
I kind of like that Grapploct isn't water type, it gives it a little bit of uniqueness being an aquatic animal yet not being water type, but that's just me.
That drawing of Odin is 11/10
Hey Lockstin, I would really love to hear some theories/lore stuff about the Regis as a whole or as seperate entities. They’ve always been a really neat trio ever since RBE. Plus the nods to ancient history and such make them even better!
well there's a weird mythical pokemon coming so
Aw yay, a rare really happy lockstin!
To the rhythm of kung fu fighting
"This bear is a kung fu viking"
Whew, I was worried you wouldn't bring up Agyo and Ungyo!
Dang this makes me want to name my urshifu rapid strike ungyo
Kind of like how Batman invented his own style of martial arts by mixing the types he learned
Like Bruce Lee, the ultimate martial artist, and Chuck Norris, creator of Chun Kuk Do!
Did you know the image of shirtless vikings came from the confusion between 'bear-shirt' and 'bareshirt' in the translation of berserker
The Big Dipper actually has 8 stars. The star right before the end of the "handle" is actually two starts that are right next to each other. Alcore & Mizar. They're like twins.
Lockstin, you should do something regarding Zacian and Zamazenta’s crowned Pokédex entries! “The crowned sword of the fairy king” and “the fighting master’s shield.” What if the ‘fairy king’ is a reference to Calyrex and the ‘fighting master’ is a reference to Urshifu?
7:38 finally, Lockstin doing a rawr XD, my life is complete
I love that it’s Urshifu. You know “Your Shifu.”
In Warwickshire, the logo is of a bear on a log. It is called the Warwickshire bear and is off the sport of tying bears to poles and whipping them and this occurred in this area
They also tied bears up and sick a pack of dogs on them to see who will win. Unless they fight the box art legends I don't think that will be an inspiration. But maybe
Single Strike’s leg stance is the “Horse-Riding Stance” Just thought I’d mention.
My personal favorite Lockstin quote:
IT ALL COMES FULL CIRCLE!
Lockstin, you're not allowed to say "it all comes together" anymore.
Wynaut?
That bear pun was unBEARable
Thank you I'll see myself out
I have some things I'd love to see you make theories on.
What happened to the royal family in Galar?
Why is the grave (I'm assuming it's a grave) in Slumbering Weald?
Well at least the two forms can have a relationship with the phrase "flow like water, swift as the wind"
Gamefreak: "Hahaha! This guy is so funny! We just used Saitama and Kenshiro, and bears, as inspiration..."
_Wouldn't it be hilarious if that were true?_ =D
2:02 having heard that I just can't help but imagine Urshifu removing the spirit from a hostile Runerigus, turning it back into a harmless, inanimate tune stone.
Lovely video!
What to do next? Not sure if you covered it, but I'd love to know all about the "extra" evolutions, like the Dynamax, Mega Evolution, now G-Max.
It's been a while for me since I've picked up a Pokémon game, I stopped at Ruby I believe. And I'm seriously confused about a lot of these evolutions, while some seriously look cool.
Lockstin: rapid style is a mix of Crane and Mantis.
Me: Fist of Flowing water Crushing Rock or Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist
I kinda wanna see more depth on Slowpoke Galar form, and Grookey's Final form.

10:30That story about Auden poetry is hilarious.
10:53 Odin being odin
I finally beat Pokémon Sword not to long ago so now I don't have to worry about spoilers. Also I finally got around to watching the Pokémon theories I missed so now I can finally watch your theories as they come out.
Do you do speculation origin videos? If so please do one on the Galarian Form Legendary Birds? Or a video speculating on their being Regional Variant Legendaries the why of them specifically and if any other Legendaries could have Regional Variants?
Hatterene line next!
Wait but like didn't mustard say he got the kubfu from a different region meaning they're not native to the galar region?
