    Dennis, You did a great job with my reel. I really learned a lot from this very thorough video. Very impressed! Thank you for taking a lot of extra time cleaning, and preparing my reel for another great season of fishing. If anyone wants to service there Penn Liveliner, this video should make a great reference. Who knows, maybe i’ll try it myself next time. Again, many thanks, and keep it going with the high quality video material.

    I just subscribed to your channel. I went step by step with you and did maintenance on my two Spinfisher V Live liners. One of which hardly worked at all. I was able to clean it, free up the live line function and get everything back together instead of having to get a new reel to go to Florida with me in 3 days. It was very relaxing as well. Your videos are a wealth of knowledge. Thank you for sharing!

    I have never owned or used a live-liner or bait-feeder reel before so I know very little about them. Considering I do mostly saltwater or surf fishing I just don’t know if one of these would be helpful. Still I find them to be very interesting. My friends who do a lot of trout fishing love these reels though almost all of them use Shimano reels rather than Penn or others. I think they are intimidating as far as working on one. Great tutorial Dennis!

      @@josephwieszbicki7431 Thanks Joseph! I guess I’m so old and set in my ways I ‘m afraid it would be too much to keep up with. I have 238 vintage spinning reels so I am a little reluctant to try a new kind of reel. I’m afraid of what I might start! Lol.

    Thanks for a very well constructed video. One thing you did not show was how to service the baitrunner drag. I have an issue where at its very least tension I feel mine is still a bit too much and have had a lot of fish drop a live bait because the drag is not loose enough. How does one get to these drag washers to service them

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  Рік тому

      You need to remove the side plate cover and then you will be able to remove the rear drag cap and drag assembly, by pulling out the retaining clip. I recommend getting the schematic of the reel before you start and then you will know the sequence of the parts as well as which ones to order if needed.
      You can get the schematic here and you can also order the parts through Mysticparts.com - Dennis www.mysticparts.com/Assets/images/pennparts/schematics/ssv6500ll.pdf

    Your instructional videos are excellent and highly informative, thank you. Do you have comments on servicing/ cleaning the rear drag assembly of these Penn Spinfisher liveliner reels? That was not shown. I can’t figure how to remove the rear spring retainer clip to gain access and remove the assembly. My reel had sand in the rear area where the drag system starts- I WD’d it well and it looks clear, but without removing I can’t be sure. Is that rear drag well sealed from internal sand as described? Thanks and thanks again for all of your posts,

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  2 роки тому +2

      You are right, I did not service the rear drag. To remove that assembly you beed to have the case open and the internal gears and axle removed.
      You will see a silver half circle clip just above the drag knob on on the inside of the bottom of the case. You need to remove that clip by pulling it out (towards you). I use a pick to start is by putting it behind one of the legs and gently prying it forward. Once that clip is removed the entire assembly will drop down and out. Too make it easier on you, back off the tension on the adjuster knob before removing the clip - Dennis

      @@2ndChanceTackle Thanks DWizzardNJ for asking the exact question I had. My sons reel has a seized rear drag and I couldn't see where the retainer clip was to access it. Only problem I will have with the drag being seized is I won't be able to back the drag off. Any ideas why the drag may be seized? The reel is in good condition otherwise and has been looked after. Great channel. Very informative and an easy watch. Pleased I found it!

      I did a generic video on how to set this as it is a common set up. You can watch it here ua-cam.com/video/Qrr_rizFkYw/v-deo.html If you have a white plastic block inside rather that a straight channel, no problem, just put the non arm side of the coil in the plastic block. - Dennis

    Hey Dennis, Thanks so much for this tutorial!! I have to ask about the bait feeder drag knob (at the bottom of the reel). You did not cover it in this video. The issue I'm having is the knob does not make a difference with the drag. I can tighten it and it never stops. Any ideas?

    • @2ndChanceTackle

      You either have a broken or missing drag washer or a jammed adjuster that is mis-threaded on the case. Either of these will cause the condition you are describing Check those first
