When I was a teen I was destroyed when dax changed his style from acid bath to all the other projects..but now that I'm older I completely understand and I love ALL of his musical projects
He sort of downplays the amazing MUSIC that Acid Bath created. call it high school bands all day long but when he's dead and gone people will likely remember Acid Bath the most.
I agree I wish he though more about acid bath because it was amazing and he is saying as if he was just messing around with his friends. That song tranquilizer oooooooh boy that’s a great song
1:17. I think Dax nails what makes keeps me and many other people coming back to ACID BATH (and AOO and Dax's solo stuff for that matter). It has soul. I'm trying not to mean that in a pretentious kind of way, but his vivid, desolate and poetic lyrics and the genuinely dark atmosphere of the music has alway conjured something unique for me. I love a lot of other sludge, doom and death metal, but many of them can admittedly be a little interchangeable musically. You can't really say that about ACID BATH; they were a different beast.
He is a poet and lyricist with a beautiful voice. His lyrics are some of the best IMO. Subjective? The other greats, I heard of from his covers in a few cases. I was a metalhead zombie by daylight, lol. Never listened to Lucinda Williams, Townes Van Zandt, Leonard Cohen or Nick Drake before Dax covered them. One of my favorite artists of all time.
That last interview is probably my favorite of his, he actually seemed liked he was enjoying reminiscing about his old band, explaining parts of “The Blue” like how awesome is that.
Acid Bath is one of my all time favorites new death sensation scream of the butterfly and really all acid bath were great I wish they didn't come to an end so early
Ive never been a real big dax fan as some may know! After listening to this I have way more respect for him cause now I totally understand why he wont play with with the guys! When you lose someone like audie is no way to replace him! He was the glue that held the madness together!! R.I.P AUDIE
Oh yeah....kelly widmar is NOT a big dax fan. Her reputation precedes her concerning that! If there's one thing you're going to know about Kelly is that she is not a Dax fan, at least not a big one. That's going to be the first thing that you realize when meeting Kelly. Thanks kelly!
@Underdog that's not what he told me a few months before he died! Things do change, so you could be right also. They were going to take a break and work on other projects for awhile. He was burned out from being on the road! He wanted to be home with family.
3:56 Poor guy. I'm that way myself with a family member I lost in 2016. I feel like this confirms that Dax really doesn't want anything to do with Acid Bath anymore because of Audie's death. Had Audie still been alive, they would have had a proper reunion. Well holy shit that explains a lot in that interview with Audie's hair and deep growls since he liked Cannibal Corpse. Audie liked Tori Amos though? That I didn't know. Makes sense since there are metal heads that also like chill stuff from time to time.
Same man. I saw a picture of him like a year ago or more in what I was read was his home studio. I know he said before that his writing process is a long one. I just hope wherever he is, he’s ok and staying healthy.
Done alot of drinking and drugging and have even slept some since the 90's, but from what I remember acid bath 's "secret sauce" was instrumentally TIGHT, all the istraments and note had great arrangements, if that makes sense(I'm not a musician, couldn't even define what a note is). But to get to the real point, acid bath, sabbatic feast, ect... Bring back great memories of good times and old friends. Shout out from lafayette louisiana
I was introduced to Acid Bath somewhere between 1995-96 as a freshman in high school (Port Barre, La) by a guy named Chris Bernard. He let me borrow 'When the Kite String Pops' and I've been a HUGE fan ever since.

@Captain Bruh dax was never into satan. He just hated how church used god as a weapon to control ppl. Sammy Deut is the Satanist and a true devil worshipper. He's not an Anton cultist he believed in god and worships Lucifer.
Sucks to peak in high school. At least he's not working at the lumber mill and watching Sunday football with his ex cheerleader wife, who also peaked in high school.
He isn't disrepescting. He just can't be in that head space anymore since he grew older and especially since Audie is gone. (How I understood what he said at least?)
It's really cool to hear Dax speak about this stuff because like when anything or anyone dies, it leaves a lot of unanswered questions, and a lot of unfulfilled potential. I would have loved to see what more Acid Bath would have looked like, but AoE was a change in direction I didn't really like, and maybe that's as close as it would have come. Better to burn out than to fade away perhaps. I have listened to a lot of Dax's solo stuff and other projects over the years, and it never really worked for me personally, but I still respect his talent and conviction as a musician. I used to think the reason he wouldn't try to bring the band back together was that he was jealous of AB's success and influence compared to his later works, and while that may or may not be true to some degree, I never properly appreciated the impact of Audie's death on him as a person. What happened was fucked up, and while it does happen, nobody should be _expected_ to just work through that. I'm sure there are other reasons too of course. Dax says here he probably couldn't perform the songs, and yeah, who wants to go on stage and not do justice to their own work? He talks a lot about it being a high school band, and though I love AB's songs, in my opinion some of the lyrics are not the most mature or intelligent, especially compared to some of Dax's later writing. AB's sound (of which Dax's vocals and lyrics are a core component) is still one of a kind though, and hugely significant within their genre. If I ever got the chance to hear what's left of the band play live, I would not hesitate. I've seen bands like Slayer, Alice in Chains, and Metallica play live after losing a member, and to me it feels like both the band and the crowd are honouring the memory of the departed when they play the old songs, rather than trying to replace them in some way. Thanks to the channel for finding and posting this, and if the band ever read this comment, thanks for some fucking incredible music that makes a real difference in my life every day.
dax has three looks: horse from a very unflattering angle, dax riggs, emo whoville resident

the clarity of thought as Dax reflects on his work is inspiring ... one of a kind a true original lover of music
I don't care what he says, if Danzig can do a Misfits tour Dax can do an Acid Bath tour.
I know I'm late but... there's no Acid Bath without Audie, sadly.
Welp, it’s sorta happening

For some of us Acid Bath was like a religious experience. A rite of passage. Please consider bringing it back if just for a little while.
I really wanted to see him play table tennis.
He’s going to finally play dead girl again on this next tour. A VERY reliable source tells me. 😳
