I have peace Lillie’s, monsteras, and parlor palms in my tanks. I love the way plants look growing out of the top of the tanks and the roots provide great places for little fish to hide in!
Love it, pothos, peace lily, monstera, calathea, fern, , tradescantia, cyperus alternifolius, spider plant have all worked in my tanks so far , makes a huge difference with maintenance and water quality 👍
I've had a taro plant collected from a local creek in an outside 2ft tank running on solar air pumps and it goes absolutely nuts. Grows fast, sends out tonnes of roots, barely need a water change with about 8 danios. Even survived through winter, now its spring its going even harder. One of the best plants for a deep substrate tank.
for plants hanging onto the tank, wires can be put through tubing. still bendable and keeps water out. Also, unbleached cotton macrame rope hanging plant baskets for over tanks- the ends could fall into the tank creating space for fish laying eggs as well as a place for growing mosses both above and below the water.
I have pothos and peace lilies in my tank. I put the roots in small plastic cages to hold them in the tank which turned out to be a benefit. My red eye tetras eat the roots that grow outside the cages.
My favourite I’ve got growing out of tanks is inchplant (tradescantia) grows crazy out of tanks and it’s a got nice purple and silver leaves, it looks ace in amongst peace Lilly’s and pathos
Whats not to love about an Adrian video! Great vid Nick ive only got Pothos at the moment but now i have names for more i can branch out! Im going to keep bugging you to get a bug bufffet outlet in the uk!! 😂😂😂😂🏴💙
They said that you can trim the roots back to give the fish extra swim room - does this affect how the plant grows? and how much can you trim the roots system
I have a monstera, pothos, a couple anthuriums & crotons in mine. I like the strappy-leafed croton varieties like gold dust & zanzibar so they don't block a lot of light like a typical croton & it provides a gorgeous splash of color out of the water.
Hyacinth have been used to treat sewage water. Goes in one end of a canal. Comes out the other side clean. Incredibly invasive as Florida found out in the 1950’s.
epiphyte not succulent would not recommend arid desert plants. Also not a rubber tree/fig certain palms and ficus are toxic to fish. Essentially all bare root hydroponic growth is possible with enough dissolved oxygen, stable PH and light source capable of supplying enough light for photosynthesis
^ SPOT. ON. If you are running an air pump, most anything can be grown with exposed roots. They just need a lot of air and some water flow and the roots will be fine.
So ficus and palms are toxic, but I guess the Araceae family (aroids) is not? It’s used so often, it must be ok… even though it is considered toxic as well. But I’ve never had issues with aroids. Never tried any ficus or palms though. Don’t know how or what kind would even work in a situation like this. They’re too big 😂 Aroids seem foolproof though. In addition to the many philodendrons, syngoniums, anthuriums, pothos, epipremnums, spathiphyllums, alocasias, etc., there are of course the cryptocoryne, anubias, bucephalandra, lagenandra, and even duckweed! I never knew that until I read about it. Duckweed must be the smallest aroid in the world.
So beautiful! Love to see your opinions/recommendations about tanks with plants on top, and fish that won’t jump ship (my huge snails and a swordtail like to exercise free will…)
Nick gives me faith in humanity :) such a lovely person and the dynamic with Adrian is just 🩷 the perfect way to relax in the evening with good people 🐟
One of the best filter plants is red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle). You can easily collect / buy the fertile seed pods, put them in the aquarium (grow tip above water) and let them grow. The amazing stealth roots they develop under water make for an extra, beautiful feature. Please learn to use scientific names, so everyone around the world knows what to search for.
I have pothos in my tank. It has been doing well with a really good root system, but the new leaves are very light in color. Even after a month since the new leaf grew out, the color is still significantly lighter than the leaves it had when it was in soil. Does anyone know what is causing this?
I don’t think you have enough knowledge to create informal videos. Many of your videos are inconsistent and often lack essential information, with you frequently saying, 'I don’t know.' It’s not just about sharing your experiences; it feels like you’re trying to produce informal content without the necessary background.
This is one of the most beautiful display of aquariums with house plants EVER 🤩 I had no idea this many types could live growing this way.
believe it or not orchids also often do quite well in a fish tank, i put just a cheap one in one of my tanks to try it and it flowered in there!
Orchids? Do you have it still?
@@joelcoronado5336 yep! it's still alive and thriving in there :D
Good to see Adrian as he's not dropped a video for a little while.

Yup house plants are the best to keep the tank clean.
Plants above just adds a whole new dimension.

I love Adrians houseplant collection that inhabits his tanks!

Don’t know why I didn’t think of doing all my fish keeping / gardening with a Coops in hand, but I’m going to give it a go 🍻

Another super awesome video. You and adrains channel are my absolute favorite. Thanks Nick for sharing

The wander Jew plant goes crazy for my tank
Incredible, thank you.

THX!!!
G'day Nick can't wait till I find your shop brother keeping it real.
Bad news for you, he's selling it.
2:15 is _Syngonium podophyllum_ 'White Butterfly' aka 'Arrowhead Plant' 😜
Pothos, Monstera deliciosa and Jalapeño are in my tanks 🌶🪴🥬
Do you start the jalapeño from cuttings or a bought plant?
Philodendron
@@NACHO_-LIBRE nice
@@seanyoung7713 Store bought pepper. Take all of the insides and wrap in wet paper towel place in baggie to dark cool spot and wait for sprouts.
Так все классно как будто кусочек природы 👍
calatheas and marantas do well like this because they love the high humidity and heat from the aquarium light.
I have four pineapples plants growing in my outdoor pond.
You should try sweet potato it grow so good and some quick with minimal lighting
Excellent plantarama!

I've been searching for mangrove seedlings but I don't think we have them in Australia
Eyy at 3:55 the Calathea needs some ferts. Calcium I think
❤love the video! Are all these plants ok for bettas too? Thanks!
what if you need medicate a tank.. maybe antibiotics or kmno4 something like that would that cause anything with these plants in?
I have often wondered whether there are any native Austalian plants that can be grown bare rooted out of an aquarium?
Hello, I would like to know about the filtration of these aquariums, and sump or canister.
There are multiple videos on this channel of Adrians fishroom. Also Adrian has his own channel. All the info is there.
Syngonium White Butterfly ;P
What kind of shrimp was that at 7:41? Regular glassy?
Looks like an Amano but I could be wrong
👍👍💞
Dose aquarium weights have the same issue?
Of rusting and killing shrimp
Are syngonium toxic for fish?
I have my lights on top of the tank, like a flat strip light, so I couldn't do this. How else can I light my tank?
I only use an actual grow light (rbw) 8-12 hrs a day and i have success just watch with floating plants as it will may them grow like crazy
Yo can you ask him how much time he turns LIGHTS ON on fish tank a day.I really want to know
I have peacy lilly n 8-12 hrs is enough to produce flowers bt i also have a plant grow light instead of a tank light
Look after him Adrian.

Sounds like either a lighting or a mineral deficiency?
@@S.Trades Thank you! I think it's probably lighting as I know the light I have isn't full spectrum.
spathiphyllum - pronounced spath ee fy lum
I'm from Philippines bro can you give me a Betta fish I'm a newbie please 🙏

mentioning that you're going to "show B-roll" in a video can be considered unprofessional...
