It was different in the old days... These blokes tell you they would sit on top of a building during work lunch, enjoying the view, with out today's 'harnes' or safety barriers.. lol
These guys again. I love it when background characters come back. Great videos. I love the time and effort you take on each of them. Im sure its the same with your store and employees. Cheers.
So cool to see you do something just for you to enjoy. I think that helps with people who are in professional fish keeping and/ or content creation to avoid burn out. A private or semi private little place for yourself that doesn't have to be anything to anyone else. Wishing you tons of happy hours in your personal fish room!! ✌️
Great set up. If you put the dehumidifier on a shelf above your water change drainage line you can have it drain directly and not have to empty it all the time…just a thought
Impressive…I’ve been watching you since you first began posting…what you have accomplished is impressive. Beautiful build! I’m an old Grammy in the USA.
Nice job dude! I work in a fish shop for the last 5 years. We also run dehumidifiers in every room. Dont use the water from them as RO water. At some point it will be very bad unless you clean the dehumidifier regulary. Trust me, we tried and tested it multiple times. Prove me wrong, if you make different experineces. Cheers ✌🏼
2 things @keepingFishSimple. 1. The dehumidifyer creates distilled water. Not RO. 2. Being an older queenslander, is the floor structure OK with all the weight of the tanks? Envious!!
Thank you for all the tips. Anymore fish room tips for cutting down on electricity is much appreciated. Here in California our electricity is ridiculously over priced.
I’ve been looking to set up a fishroom for a rough year now and you’ve given me every step I need to make that possible! Thank you so much for helping me see my dream come true! I hope you have the best of luck in your breeding and that you keep loving what you do!!
Heads up regarding using dehumidifier water in tanks. Many times it will have high amounts of ammonia present and possibly some copper (from the pipes that the water condenses on). I have been thinking about doing the same thing and have been researching it.
@@atn17 does it test high in anything else? I’m thinking of using dehumidifier water in my future fish room. I’m thinking I’ll poor it through a gravity filter (sand charcoal rock and possible limestone to add some minerals back) and then grow plants in the holding tank to take care of the ammonia
Although Chloramines are annoying for the hobby, it’s definitely the best way to go for providing safe drinking water for a public water distribution system. It shouldn’t be framed as a bad thing.
I am glad you are back to enjoying the hobby at home. A suggestion - put a buffer tank where you can treat the water and then pump it to the aquariums. You have already invested a lot. A barrel and a pump will not cost a fortune.
DEAR NIC, I've been meaning to comment since you posted the video about selling your fish store.... I wish you didn't have to do that... and I've always heard that your first year or 2 won't be fruitful .... but if given the choice if a choice had to be made..between your video making, and running the fish business... you absolutely 100% made the right choice... you are SO VERY GIFTED, TALENTED & SKILLED in this area.... head and shoulders WAY above anybody else who makes videos,( except Adrian) he's pretty good too but totally diff.. Yours are so well done that I am pretty sure you could make an hour long video about sand and I would not only enjoy it but watch it a couple of times..... you know what to put visually on screen while you are speaking about it...( instead of your face talking about it,like most do... we didn't tune in to see your face we tuned in to see these too 10 fish for beginners! Duh) but YOU get that, AND YOUR THE ONLY ONE + ADRIAN who knows instinctively music that is appropriate behind, background for fish.... I cant tell you how many times I've tried to watch a video about beautiful guppys but can't get through it because they've put like club house music behind it.. Are we in a club dancing on Friday night? NO... your videos are so good it doesn't have to be a subject I am interested in...I just know I want to watch it...... someday I hope to go to Australia and meet you and Adrian and your terriers in person you both have touched my life and I enjoy learning with you... I feel like I can see you grieving your store or something in your eyes lately , but I am so glad to hear you will continue to make videos about fish keeping and more... I'm trying to start a rescue rehab... using large fishtanks to help soothe and heal ... hopefully someday you will film it after I build it...... Wishing you ALL THE BEST❤
@KeepingFishSimple I also meant to give your bro complement too, PLEASE SHARE WITH HIM that I realise this is as much an effort from him behind the camera! I hope you guys stay together as a team.... looking forward to more awesome information and entertainment that is worth my precious time and then some you guys are FIRE
Amazing! Gardening is much easier when there is a lot of nice clean water! Looking forward to a little blog about that too... very inspiring. I really loved your documentary style videos too... would think that these are really popular.... very best of luck with the videography!! Keep up the great work but if you need a holiday first.... enjoy that too!
Sometimes being committed to the passion outweighs the risk of whether it can be permanent, better to go ahead and adapt than never try... learnt this with my veggie garden and now the fish are taking over 😂
Hey Nick, great work! Love the new fish room👌any reason Nick you didn’t install a water dechlorinator filter after the ball valve in your fish room?? You can get them for a pretty good price and it will save you stressing about putting in your dechlorinator into each tank individually every water change 💧 ✌️
The room itself looks great. But, three things. 1. Your copper water intake pike will not be good for invertebrates. 2. People have tried using RO water from dehumidifiers and it's not good to use for fish due to how the humidity is collected. 3. The main plugs for your light timers are way to close to the water return of the one tank, it could cause issue because of the humidity and splashing.
I was just going to suggest the same. Keep an IBC outside (blacked out to reduce algae), airated, keep the water dosed and heated if necessary and then use a pond pump to feed into the system instead of mains tap water. Could control the system on a timer or even better, a WiFi plug and app
Good to see QuentIn and Dave back in action! Hope Sammy didn't pick up any of Dave's bad habits (although his taste in music is spot on!). Looking forward to seeing all the future videos on each tank set up.
If you could find a way to share how you constructed your racks with some pictures it would be greatly appreciated. Love your channel and look forward to all of your videos.
14:10 Water filter system would fix that. Here in the US, that's what people do for their auto water change if they're using city water. It's an extra cost but killing your fish on accident is also too and probably more annoying.
LOL a very Aussie video, a couple of kick arse Uncles a crazy dog & a project hardly anyone would think of doing! A very real UA-cam video. You just needed some Aussie music. 😅 pub with no beer?
Great stuff, Nick! More inspiration! I want to build an extra rack in the garage at GarageAquatics2023 World Headquarters to hold nine more 20 gallon (60L) tanks. Three rows high. Three tanks across. Always lookin' forward. Always good to see Quinten and Dave, and Jason too. Cheers to all y'all! ~Ron
Have you looked into Mary annes aquariums in waterford? Ive had a few tanks made by Dennison and they are excellent quality, he does have long wait times but worth it
Awesome room mate. Did you say you're renting? How'd you get that past the landlord? Aquariums r us closing down def gonna leave a gap in the tank building market for sure!
Do you have any experience with mangroves ? Or have any recommendations for plants that can be kept above the water line that shoots out a nice root structure .
Wouldn’t it have been more convenient to just run a carbon filter between the tap water and the irrigation pipes? That way you wouldn’t have to worry about potentially poisoning your fish while doing a waterchange. Also dehumidifiers also suck formaldehyde and other chemicals out of our air. The dehumidifiers water isn’t suitable for drinking or use in fish tanks.
shouldnt be enough leeched into the water to harm. most fish are fine as thaths the main ingredient for anti snail treatment, plus it kills shrimp too. ive used dehumidifier water for awhile now with 0 issues
I want to know more about the old time carpenters. After seeing them helping out so many times, I am curious about them. Are they family friends or tradesmen you hired and then befriended? Are they related to each other? I wish I had guys like these in my neighbourhood.
i'm sure there is a way to IV drip the water-conditioner as the tap water flows in, i wouldn't be surprised if somebody has created a product to do that.
Great video but you really need to look up Benny Hill and Ernie, The Fastest Milkman In The West. he was also Professor Peach in the 1969 Italian Job haha. You make me feel so old. Love yourchannel
This being a rental is crazy to me. Anything like this ever done overseas in the US would be a disaster. A lot of rental companies don't even let you have birds let alone thousands of gallons of water in their homes. Good on you for being able to do it, though!
Love it. But all this time and money into infrastructure in a rental ?? I thought you had bought. One month and could be out the door. I hope this doesn't happen. Obviously you know the owner having made so many changes to the room
this is exactly the content I wanna see on my Saturday evening after training xd I cant wait for scaping and stocking videos in that room man, a fresh fulltime youtuber with an empty fishroom means a lot of content to be made lmao
Hope you have an understanding landlord and a long lease Nick
Kudos to the seasoned pros of carpentry. No goggles no problem. Ciggie over safety. Signs of a true craftsman.

Dave and Quentin deserve their own spin off channel. They also deserve to have the fish room named after them
The fact you installed the automatic water change system while renting in AU is bonkers to me!

Everytime you make a new fishroom (shop) they just get better and better! Your gonna have hours of fun in that room!

Well done Nick. Good to have your own space to chill out in and simply enjoy your fish. Cheers Mate from a local.

I am excited to see what your new fish room will show us 😊
I use vinyl adhesive film (Contact) on all my tanks. It's so easy to apply and is water proof and lasts forever
A great little place to relax and enjoy your hobby, you did a great job mate! 🙂
Interesting project, excellent work on the stands. As an Old Geezer myself, i approve of the bands he mentioned.
I always look foward to your uploads, love the infrastructure builds 😊cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Making all those changes to a rental doesn't worry you? Invest a bunch of money then be forced to leave no fault of your own.
Can always deconstructed. Just will take time. The money wouldn't be totally lost materials are still good and can be retconned for a new space.
Changes? It's non permanent..
And as shown in build, easy to pull down when needed
I don’t think he’d be doin this in just any rental. It’s probably a place he knows he gonna be able to live for in a decent while yet
stop yapping

because of one of your last videos im diving in taking out aeration from my well planted tanks. going wonderfully

I recommend not using the humidifier water for fish as I did it before and the copper leached in and I killed my betas.
Sorry that happened to you. In addition to concern about metals, my dehumidifier water tests surprisingly high in ammonia
@@atn17 Mine too. Very high readings. It seems logical it would be clean water but it was far from it. 😳

What did u use under each tank mate? Thanks for the video
