I mean maybe not as good as those albums. But a crow left of the murder*and light grenades are pretty good. It’s hard to make any album better thank the ones preceding those two. That’s asking for a lot.
Quit drinking myself in 2011. I turned 40. And could not handle the hangovers. And I was doing pills and all the regular shit. Feel so much better. Glad you got sober.
Incubus was never the same after he left and dont get me wrong I love the stuff they did afterwards but nothing compared to the stuff they did with Dirk. God tier music.
"I Love This Bass Player" I am now A Big Fan of His" I will Remember his Name from Now On. (Mr. Dirk Lance) He should write us all a book from all of his experiences that has brought him here 2024a.d. - He is Very WORTHY!🤓🧐🤔🤨🤫
@@FreakinRican6969 I'm a 90's stoner kid so it's hard for me to agree. I stepped off the train at Make Yourself. But I'm happy you enjoy their new stuff
There is a reason why Incubus refuses to play their older material. It's not because they just dont want to it's because Ben cannot replicate Dirks chops or feel. Both bassists are monster players imo.
Dirk/Alex rocks. Is there a Part 2 where he explains why he had to leave and shares all? I wonder if any of Brandon's F.U. songs are about him (Sick Sad Little World, Leech, etc.).
I'm paraphrasing here but there was some resistance concerning the stylistic approach to the music post Morning View. By then the band had already transformed into different elements compared to their first two recordings. Make Yourself was a big shift in the musical direction but it afforded them a break into the mainstream landing them in the pop charts. I imagine they were becoming too poppy and generic for dirk's talent and ambitions for his place in incubus.
SRT_SPORTSWEAR sounds like bullshit. Source?? From what I've heard Brandon wanted to push the band fully into the mainstream spotlight and change the bands style, sound to a more radio friendly version (which they did) and Dirk wasn't on board considering how he cared more about the music rather than the fame and money. Also Brandon is a self absorbed premadonna bitch, sorry but it's true. He wanted the shirtless music videos, sexy ballads and more, it was all extremely evident. Props to Dirk for staying true and recognizing Brandon's bullshit and getting out of dodge before the band crumbled as badly as it did
@@evanderchristy6712 for real. SCIENCE, make yourself, and morning view were the incubus I liked with dirk. they kept getting worse and worse from crow left of the murder onwards, have you heard their new album 8? what a joke. dirk made the right move before they turned into mainsteam hipster bullshit.
It’s an interesting thought. There are some incredible & arguably timeless tracks Incubus have released since parting ways with Dirk. The band clearly wanted to steer away from ‘nu-metal’ and seem very self-conscious of their back catalogue. Mike enrolling at Harvard music school, recruiting Ben Kenney (incredibly talented multi-instrumentalist) & DJ Kilmore taking on Hammond organs & synths, etc etc, are all evidence of this desire to ‘mature’ musically. But I so miss Dirk’s bass work, that tight & silky tonality with incredible finger work that he brought to Incubus’ music and tonality. On the other hand, if personalities clash and their relationships were strained, it would likely be very difficult to evolve collectively as a group. If it meant the band breaking up then it’s perhaps for the best they parted ways. Still, if they could have reconciled, how would things have turned out musically? What if, what if...
I started drinking at 17 and by 21 I honestly stopped liking it. If something shitty happened or I want to go out to get laid during my 20s I would get some beer or alcohol but that didn't happen too many times. now at nearly 33 alcohol fucks with my blood sugar too much and it's hard to find beer that's super fresh so I rarely have a beer, liquor is out of the question. It really sucks how hard it is to find really fresh beer on tap.
Hope so. I'm sure he does make money because normally song rights go to whoever wrote the melody of the lyrics not even if you wrote the whole song on guitar. But like how lennon/mccartney were credited with any beatles song that was by john or paul, every incubus record that dirk was on and I believe after says "all songs credited to Incubus" or it lists their names
Can confirm: Ron Jeremy drove a piece of crap. I met him and Leif Garrett in 2003 on my 21st birthday. My friends were playing at gig at The Joint on Pico and they were hanging out there. Ron left in a crappy beat to shit mid 90’s Saturn.
Unbelievably down to earth and nerdy, that's awesome
Agreed
You can kinda see a look of discontent on Dirk's face when the host is talking about Incubus
Dirk "Diggler" Lance is a real living LEGEND.
Talented as fuck after he left incubus failed to pump out anything as good as morning view or make yourself.

Couldn't, never did, and never will... 😞
speak for yourself. all of incubus' albums are excellent

I remember reading a long time ago that GLASS from S.C.I.E.N.C.E. was about him
He doesn't. He's friends w them, but the band mates of the past all say he's the worst.

Dirk Lance is money my g
You are a bad ass bass player.
He’s inspired thousands of ppl to play bass and his music is still played and covered over 20 yrs later.
@Philip Reed Wallace
You are objectively incorrect.
Benny greb and dirk should have a project together.
Biggest mistake to get rid of him
he had problems AND A LOT OF THEM, so time passed and everybody got tired of the attitude (not douche like) but mainly drinking TOOOOO MUCH
