  • DJI MINI 3 PRO: Comparing the FREEWELL Polarizing CPL Filter side by side to the MINI 3 PRO WITHOUT a filter. This maybe the most important Mini 3 accessory you need. Amazing what this little guy can do and all the extra colors, shades, and textures that are brought out when using a polarizing filter.

    Removing the blue reflection of the sky in my opinion, at least in this spefici shot, isn't great to be honest.
    The blue reflecting on the water surface gives a much more appealing look to me.
    Sky looks a little bit darker though.
    Thanks for the video!

    CPL filters show maximum effect 90 deg.relative to sun direction.Variable CPL filters allow adjustments to be made effect -wise based on direction relative to sun orientation.Pro settings on the Mini will also help mitigate lightening/darkening throughout your flights.

    Thanks for these tests, as someone else said in the comments it would have been interesting to see the effect of the CPL on the water on a 90% degrees bird eye view shot. Anyway you can get the potential of the filter, especially on the very last comparison where water gets a wider variety of tones with the CPL. Cheers buddy

    You'll get the maximum polarization effect when at 90 degrees angle from the sun. If you're flying straight towards or away from the sun it's not going to be too much difference, although with a wide angle lens some parts of the sky will still look darker.

    Well I just got one as I'll be flying over water and the sky does come out better also it protects the lens on the mini 3 pro from dust and possible salt spray from sea water if flying low so that's why I got it. Just hope I don't get extra sun glare though, still will find out.

      It's CPL, not a ND. ND doesn't remove any reflections.

    How can we have confidence in you when right at the start you talk about the ‘stock piece of glass’? As it comes the the Mini 3 Pro has no glass in front of the lens. I have a polarising filter on mine but that’s simply an extra level of protection for the lens itself.

      It has stitching errors but the mini 2 doesn't. I'm using app version 1.8.0 . I updated the mini 3 a few days ago & the range problem is gone but they need to fix the stitching. You can see sunridge park in phx photosphere taken with mini 2 on google & no stitching errors then i got photosphere of friendship park in avondale with mini 3 & stitching errors. Better resolution than mini 2 but you can clearly see several errors. I calibrated the gimbal & compass so i dont think thats the problem. I also tried cine & normal if i remember but no luck. I'll try the heavy battery, & eventually swap microsd if theres still errors but i think its a software issue. I might try 360 with a filter too & see if that helps along with using another phone. As long as ppl keep buying their drone they have no incentive to fix their stitching. They will if i end up giving them a bad review.

      interesting.. I’ve never heard of a stitching issue. Is that with panoramic photos?? thanks for your comment! I loved all the DJI Mini’s and feel like each generation was better.

      @rkdbaj Рік тому

      @@AerialMotionPhotography panoramic 360 photos have bad stitching errors up close on the mini 3 pro. I haven't tried raw yet but jpeg has terrible stitching. Mini 2 seems perfect as long as u dont cover the landing sensors which causes a vision sensor error even after taking the tape off.

    The buildings and yachts are still overexposed. Is this due to the type of the filter lacking polarizing properties? Dji records HDR, if im not mistaking. However this looks too contrasted of deep blacks and clipped whites. Is there a setting to preserve more mid tones?

    • @AerialMotionPhotography
      @AerialMotionPhotography  Рік тому

      this is only a polarizer and doesn’t have any ND strength to darken the image so the shutter speed can be slowed down. I don’t know if DJI does HDR. It can take 3 & 5 bracketed photos (AEB). my main goal is to not blow out the highlights.

    • @AerialMotionPhotography

      you might want to try a ND/PL 16 or 32 especially on bright days like we have in Southern California. Hope this helps 👍🏼
