    The Ranger 2400 has finally racked in enough flight hours for me to be able to finish my review, so here it is! It is yet another awesome FPV model from Volantex, and those wings have proven themselves on yet another model! Exceptional flight performance and efficiency, gentle stall characteristics and smooth flying definitely put this one close to the top of my list! Just thing about this... 98 mins of flight time on a tired 4S 10000mAh pack, with the stock motor running the stock prop, which needed only some quick balancing... outstanding!!!

    Greetings. Have now been flying the Ranger 2400 for about three weeks. Prior to this the Skywalker X8 clearly held the long-distance FPV title for endurance. Remove the wooden tray that comes with the Ranger 2400 and you have room for two 3S 5200 mah batteries. I just completed two autonomous missions turning around at 32000 distance feet and both returned with 14.4 V remaining on both batteries. The glide characteristics and amp draw on the Ranger 2400 is absolutely the Cadillac of the long-distance FPV world. Your assessment is, as always, dead on for storage access and comparisons with other Volantex planes. Furthermore, the Ranger 2400 has real hinges and punch-on horns. A complete NO-GLUE assembly. I wanted to write and indicate that your remarks about "somebody is finally paying attention" is observed everywhere long-distance FPV'rs exist. They A R E improving over time. Great videos!

    What plane do you recommend for flying a GoPro sized camera for as long as possible? Seems like this would be a good candidate but looks like there's not a great GoPro mounting location.
    How does the flight time of this compare to the XUAV Talon or Clouds?

      Well... not sure about the Talon, but the Clouds gets about the same duration with a bigger battery... so I'd say at this weight and setup the Ranger is more efficient, but the Clouds does have quite a lot of gear on it, mounted on the outside, creating additional drag! Do you want to mount the GoPro facing down, without having the fuselage in view of the camera?

    Do you use a current sensor with your Omnibus F4 FC or just go off pack voltage? Current sensors seem to be "mandatory" in some guides but in my own experience they just seem to be more hassle than they are worth with the calibration needed.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  5 років тому +1

      Yeah... calibration is tricky... and I haven't been able to figure it out quite yet... so use the voltage indicator for the most part... but it is on the board, so I should figure it out at some point! Not sure why I can't get it sorted really!

    Great review. I can't believe the prices on these Volantex models. Honestly, these should all be in everyone's hanger! Have you seen the Trainstar ascent 747. . . they've reduced the price by 50% for a few days! I've recently been getting into E-Flite Timbers and Multiplex FunCubs. They're excellent planes, but quite a bit more costly and I don't think anywhere close to the durability of the Volantex. Would you consider the Trainstar for an upcoming review perhaps? Even though it's a trainer, if they've got a decent profile on the wing, and you add flaps, you can get incredible STOL type performance out of these planes. Happy flying!

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  5 років тому

      Thank you! Yes, a Trainstar should be coming my way at some point, so there will be a review... not necessarily an FPV one! Really want to diversify a bit for a change! And yes, the plastic fuselage on those Volantex models is insanely durable... the for the other brands... you do pay for the brand mainly... but there is just a tad bit more QC... sometimes... :D

No where near as big and strong as the ranger 2000 or 2400 ofcourse . Did the jump from the 2m to 2.4m give you the large flight time increase , or more to do with motor efficiency etc?
    =)

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  3 роки тому

      Thanks Mark, appreciate it! Large flight time increase will come from its increased load bearing ability... which I haven't really tested, but the wings a good deal larger! That also introduces a drag penalty... but... no other way to do it! Should be able to easily carry a bigger battery though!

      @ArxangelRC  Рік тому

      Hi, thank you! Yes, the plane is still very much relevant, and Volantex have not announced any new models for now. As for batteries... that would depend a lot on what gear you have in it, and if its mounted towards the tail, etc., but it should be able to take 600-800g of battery, CG balanced of course, without issues. DragonLink would be more than adequate for this plane.

    Ranger 2400 vs 2000, which one you like better? My 2000 lost video signal, didn't come back on RTH, and the GPS coordinates from crossfire not even close to what what was in the last frame from the OSD. So......... I looking at getting either 1600, 2000, or the 2400. I was looking at the 2400 over the 2000 because of the landing gear and in the rare chance I end up finding the 2000 or someone else finds ending up with two. Kinda shying away from the 1600 because I liked having flaps / crow breaking . In the US, seems like the 24000 is about $80 more, plus parts are tougher to come by than for the 2000 (a good example the wing clips, battery trays and more importantly the upper tray for the FC and to hold the wings. I know I'm probably taking myself into the 2000 again, but the 2400 looked pretty cool.

Was supposed to ship on the 20th of August but on that day I received email from Banggood saying it’s out of stock! Lol. Now it’s on backorder and Banggood doing the run around game with me saying it Should be back in stock first week of September. Lmao. I’m not holding my breath. I’ve asked for my $81.98 refund and they keep saying please wait we will ship soon as we receive stock.. I’m guessing I’ll never get my $81.98 back and I’m shit out of luck. Unfortunately I used a debit card like an idiot. Normally when I order from these thieve scammers I use PayPal but my account was to low so used debit instead. How did you get your refund? Like I said I asked for refund and they act like they don’t want to give me my money back. I think they are waiting on me to just say screw it keep my money!
      I have even asked if I can swap out the hd wing for something else that’s in stock and even after they said at first I could now all sudden I can’t do that either. CRAZY!
      What really pisses me off is they are still selling the exact HD wing and on Banggood says nothing about out of stock. Banggood knows they can get away with screwing us Americans out of our money because that commie ass country could care less about us and our laws.
      Be last time I ever order anything from them again and I’ve been telling everyone I no in this hobby to stay clear of Banggood.
