    Currently on a Optiplex 7040, but swapped it to a bigger case with GTX 980, 4tb WD black HDD, 250gb ssd etc. Whole build was £320 to buy. Need to replace motherbaord though, the weird form factor of the Optiplex made it sit weird in the new case and I have it held down by one screw loool

    Nice video. I've heard it could be done, but honestly I don't see too many people case-swapping SFF Optiplexes. I think this is actually the first video I've seen someone DO it.
    Decent choice of video card, though it might be a little on the weak side when paired with 8th gen, Maxwell is still an acceptable choice in 2024.
    17:07 I'm confused, if you cut the jumper doesn't that make it null and void? What's the point here?
    Also, isn't there a chassis intrusion switch? My 4th-gen (3020) has one. Does the 8th/9th gen model not bother with that? I mean, it's not a big deal, and you could ignore messages about it.

    • @ZeRDTechGaming
      @ZeRDTechGaming  4 місяці тому

      Thanks, I appreciate you watching. The GTX 970 graphics card may not be adequate for the CPU in question. A GTX 1660 graphics card would be a more suitable option.
      In regards to the pins, severing them will enable the computer to boot and circumvent the security measures. Conversely, if the metal remains intact, the PC will be unable to power on.

    • @ZeRDTechGaming
      @ZeRDTechGaming  3 місяці тому

      Hi, you were indeed correct in a way. I tested it with another jumper cap that I did not cut. The PC still booted and bypassed the error codes just like the one I cut. Lol It seems I do not need to cut them anymore. I appreciate your feedback.

      Of course. If the price difference between the two options is insignificant, it would be more advantageous to opt for the gaming PC. However, the ultimate decision should be based on your specific requirements and preferences in the market.

      @ZeRDTechGaming  Місяць тому

    Hello,Since i am new to computers,can i ask you a few help questions?
    Firstly,after i install the dell motherboard,will i need a adapter or anything to connect it to the power supply or the pc case/fans?
    Second,will i get any errors?
    Third , do i just plug in the power cable in the pins?

    • @ZeRDTechGaming
      @ZeRDTechGaming  Місяць тому +1

      Yes, you will need power adapters if you are using a different power supply. You will need a 6-pin to 24-pin adapter.
      As for fans, it's better to have a case that comes with a fan hub or controller.
      For the front panel, you will need to connect the 2 USBs to USB 3.0 ports.
      To avoid getting an error during boot, you have to jump the power pins like I did in the video.
      I recommend re-watching the video because I explained everything in detail. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. I appreciate you watching

    how do you connect the new fan into the motherboard?

    • @ZeRDTechGaming
      @ZeRDTechGaming  Місяць тому +1

      The PC case that I used in the video came with a fan hub because the Dell motherboard does not come with any fan headers besides the CPU fan header. Another option is to use a fan splitter and plug it into the CPU fan header.

      I'm sorry, I misread because you said it's an i5 13th gen, but it's a 7010 i5 3rd gen. Actually, yours is way easier to case swap because your motherboard is a regular mATX. All you have to do is get a case like the SAMA in the video, a power supply that's if you want to use a GPU that requires any power connector.
