Restasis never worked for me. Just had a corneal ulcer in both eyes and saw a new doctor. Started on Xiidra and it started working in about two days. I have extremely dry eyes from Sjogren with one eye never even registering any moisture w the tests at the eye doctor. I’m very excited to finally get results and feel moisture in my eyes! ❤
The stinging with x idea only lasts a few minutes and I actually get a soothing sensation once it stops…to me if this little amount of burn is too much…your dry eye isn’t severe enough in the first place..I am praying it works…I am on weeks 2 and will gladly deal, with the sting or burn compared to all day being miserable. The funny metallic taste is very mild and tolerable for me. Again….nothing compared to the suffering I have incurred with dry eye.
I have had good luck with Cequa! Used it a good 6 months or so before my insurance kicked back and said they wouldn’t help cover it anymore and that I’d have to go on Restasis instead, as they had previously said they wouldn’t cover Xiidra either. It’s been an insurance headache but my eyes are doing much better! I was able to be cleared for PRK, which went well and am now 20/20! The 15 years of contact lenses didn’t help with the dryness! 😅 While I was on Cequa I did like it, but it would begin to burn maybe 2 minutes or so after instilling the drops for a good 15 seconds or so causing me to get watery eyes before it stopped. So far 4 days on Restasis and I have not had that issue. Thanks for the info! I had seen Xiidra works against some inhibitors or something, completely different from Cyclosporine, so it has me wondering if that may be any better in the long run if I can finally get insurance to cover it. Thanks for the video! Interesting info. 😁
$2000+ for 3 months supply for both. Thank God my insurance (BCBS of Alabama) covered the brand, but not the generic. So get doc to send script in as brand.
Dr. Cremers I have very big red veins in my eyes, I took several pictures of my eyes and I would like to see if I can get an online consultation from you, I am more than willing to pay you, I do really need help as no one seems to be able to give me some answers for my red veins which have been there for over 8 months now. Where can I contact you, call or email you, I will appreciate your response Dr.
Hi Dr. Cremers! Thank you for the short and concise comparisons. I am taking Cequa at the moment and my eyes are itchy, it hurts and there is a little bump forming on by bottom eyelid near my eyelashes. Are those signs of allergies?
Hello Sandra, I have a question, do we need to use some type of steroids eye drops before using Restasis eye drops? Thank you for your time Sandra, I appreciate it very much.
Question: does it make any sense to use two or all three of these drops or should a patient just choose one of them? I ask because my doctor prescribed all three for me and it’s a real pain juggling them all. I want to stop Xiidra because it burns so terribly. I’ve been using for years and my eyes still hurt.
Great question! Since the xiidra, which is lifitegrast, and Restasis, which is cyclosporine, work in different, inflammatory pathways, some doctors will prescribe both of them. Some patients improve with this regimen, but most of my patients have such significant burning that they abandon both. We have many patients who prefer their preservative free platelet rich plasma from a Patients own Platelets (PRP) or autologous serum (AS) though PRP drops seem to work better than AS. This does not burn it has a growth factor which improves symptoms for most patients: more than 90%.
@@2020yes Thank you so much! I have been on Serum tears for years also, which are wonderfully soothing. I don’t count how many times a day I use when home (with fridge handy) probably 12-15 X/ day. I’ll ask my doc about the possibility of PRP gtts instead. I discussed IPL with her this morning too and will give that a try. For me the burning from Xiidra is not just on contact or for a few minutes-it tends to persist when I use it in the evening-so much I recently stopped. It’s not as bad in the morning after which I immediately do hot soaks and lid scrubs. I may continue the AM dose of Xiidra only. Restasis doesn’t cause any burning for me. My doc just added a Cequa prescription to replace the Restasis with a higher dose of Cyclosporine. It’s Interesting how different people are in their symptomatic responses.

Each patient can react differently. Some patients prefer Xiidra or Restasis or Cequa. No head to head studies that I know of yet.
I just push the tip straight into the cap after opening, works pretty well

I put a tooth pick in the opening to seal the container after use. What do you think of this solution ?
I’ve literally tried all of them and none of them work
Have you tried lipiflow? Or ipl?
Do you have dry eyes or blepharitis?
cequa is the best one of the three?
Does restasis stops keratoconus progression?

can you use Cequa safely twice, once in the morning and once at night? i know the insert says throw it away, but a doctor said use it twice.

Qual é melhor
Restasis is derived from fungus. If I have a mold allergy, should I not use?
Kaylin Park
Do these drops have to be taken for a lifetime? or can the patient stop using them when the eye's tear production becomes sufficient?
For me a liftime
