I love the way you showed the racing gear, you are not advertising, you´re showing a cool product from a sponsor that you guys know are good quality. A lot of bigger youtubers should learn from you guys. Great videos as always!
Wow, watching this series and looking back to what the FR-S used to be, makes it all worth it. You guys have built one awesome track car, not to mention all the things I've learned, from tire pressures, alignments, and aero, to mention a few. Looking forward to watching more projects from you guys!
I'd never heard of Speed Academe before, you came up on my recommended viewing. Just sat in and watched all the FR-S Targa and Track Build videos. Highly entertaining and educational. I love the other car's in the shop too, particularly that FD3S (I've had a few in my time) Subscribed to the channel and now off to watch a video on that Swift.
Great job guys, keep 'em coming and more and more people will start watching (and loving) these videos. The format and everything else is spot on. Good luck!
+Speed Academy it sure does. And the vibe you're sending out is great. Keep posting up project updates and tech tips. I'm gonna be here, enjoying them with a smile on my face, haha. And good luck in future competitions!
You guys have given me so much inspiration for my first track car build thanks keep droping the great content. Hope you guys get to race in Florida one day.
Don't usually 'like' videos as i always forget and it usually takes an outstanding film to get me to remember. But i have to say you're channel is on it's way to becoming my favourite, so i'm going to do my bit to get you guys the views you deserve! Legends! All the best for Ontario
Awesome job guys! You guys are one of the reasons I currently own a 240sx. You guys should get a s13 and build a auto cross car(plan for my s13). Everyone makes fun of me because its a "drift" car..plus it would make my job a little easier for me :).. Happy wrenching!
+Kyle Tipton S13 is an awesome autocross car! I've autocrossed one back in the day and it was tons of fun. S-chassis are great for grip as well as drift. Pete's built a S13 or two in his day, but we could definitely build another someday.
Yeah I have used the S14 brake upgrade video to plan out my break set up on my S13. I will be using Z32 30mm front and duel Z32 in the rear for my hydro e break but will be switching the master just like Pete said for better performance XD
+Wu Watt Hope you find what you're looking for. The FRS is so convenient with its tow hook provisions being on the bumper. Not sure that many other cars run them like that. Keep us posted as to what you find.
You guys make great videos and a great car, hope to see more of this one in the future. Love the channel it's more enjoyable to watch than most car channels that seem to carry less enjoyable attitudes and such.
+Rising Sun Well we're not making much money so paying the bills is tough but we love what we do. Starting is always hard but no one ever said anything that takes skill and dedication would be easy right?
+Travis Proteau Im not a huge fan of it, whoever designed the tool box made it impossible to remove the sockets with your hands, you always need a screw driver or allen key to pop them out. Plus our Allen keys rusted. :( But hey, it was affordable so can't complain too much.
Im getting the FRS pretty soon, I love this car, could you give me an estimate on how much you spent on aftermarket parts? I want to build it up like you guys did but I want to know what to expect to spend, and great content!
+jorges2000 It's great in the summer but with no heat in the winter the shop is miserable haha. We have to drive the car for our Ontario1500 event, it cannot be trailered. Otherwise, we'd totally done that and saved our ears and backs from 3+ hours of driving in the race car.
+Vicente lerdo yessir, we'll be posting a video for each day of the event starting soon. New video each day for 7 days once we're ready to publish them.
That hitch mount gives me an idea.. it could be a great "removable rocket bunny wing" solution. Bolt the wing to the hitch for downforce transmitted directly to the chassis, then take it off when the extra drag is useless on the drive home.. hmmm
+STEELERS743 Haha, Dave has zero excuses anymore. Yeah, we really love the shoes, they fit so well and are actually comfortable after wearing them the whole day.
Love the FRS build guys! And the channel (subscribed) But.... Is that an E28 528e I see when Peter is backing out?! I'd love to see a video or just more details about that!
+NCD2294 there are a bunch of stories about it on our website (yes, it's a E28 528e...good eye!), but I guess we should really shoot a video about it sometime. Here's the intro story about it: speed.academy/project-dd-bmw-e28-intro/
Love it! Just read the intro. I'll have to look at the other stories. Was the Euro bumper/front end swap costly? It really makes the E28 look much much better (and compact)
+NCD2294 It really does especially when the US bumpers are so big and bulky. The bumper swap isn't that costly, roughly around $500-$800 but there's a lot of work involved as you can see in the stories.
Yeah I ended up reading them, quite the effort, certainly worth it! Though, I wonder how much an Euro 528i or something would cost to import. Since all E28's are old enough to be legal (especially in Canada). May be worth it to buy a Euro car instead and daily that. (Obviously for someone else hahaha)
+NCD2294 Watch for them online. I recently saw a euro E28 for sale here in Ontario for $6000 which is a great deal considering how clean and rust free it was!
Do you have the wheel and tire sizes/specs somewhere on your site? I am running 245 on 18x8.5 35 ET and the tires are sticking out a bit, especially in the front. No rubbing though. Will the larger offset like 40ET work better?
+sadigov Check this story for all the info: speed.academy/scion-frs-voltex-advan-racing-gt-toyo-r1r/ +40 is the better offset and seems to be the go-to for the FRS/BRZ
Hey Dave and Peter, I've love the videos you make and really have changed how my BRZ is. Also gave a good insight on boost. Cooling mods. And aero on the platform. Just wanted to ask what your wheel and tire spec's are. I can't find them anywhere for some reason. I'm really love the fitment that you guys have and I'm looking to do the same.
+MC1796 I actually own an EVO VIII that will hopefully get into some videos before the winter sets in here. As for which I prefer, let me start off by saying that I've driven almost every generation of Evo and STI to land on North American soil and if you're looking for a daily driver that's also a fun and safe track car then the STI is the way to go. However, if you want a very capable and fast track car thats still somewhat decent for the street then the EVO is the way to go. The Evo has a better engine platform, both the 4G63 and 4B11 are capable of big power and reliable for track abuse. The suspension is already amazing, a set of good quality colivers and you'll be fast out of the box. The IX and X have AYC which makes them rotate exceptionally well at the track so they're a blast to drive. That being said, it's noisy and cheap as a daily driver (The X is much better though), it gets poor gas mileage and has a small trunk. The STI has a less reliable engine and requires much more mods to make big power reliably. +Jadon Ghereben Have you been watching our previous videos? We talk about it the model, design, etc. so def check it out. But if you're dying to know, its a Type 7 swan neck wing.
How do you find it drives with the trailer? The owner's manual of the thing does say "this car is nor recommended for towing" after all. Which I would suspect is down to the transmission and diff.
+Scot Mcphee It drove completely fine, this trailer with all the wheels and tools weighs about 400lbs so it's not that hard a load on the car but Toyota won't recommend it since it's always a liability.
+Scot Mcphee Yeah, something about a roll cage, supercharger and no interior may not fly with warranty claims. But seriously, just because it says not recommended doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. Just keep the weight down and you'll be fine in our books.
Nice hitch and trailer. If the trailer box is only held down by ratchet straps - ROOKIE MISTAKE… The box should be held down mechanically by nuts and bolts thru the bottom of the box. If the ratchet straps becomes loose (That can happen easily) goodbye tool box - and I pray for the motorist following. If they don’t get killed, the can be seriously injured. Bolt it down fellas. I may save someone’s life AND your tools and equipment.
+Speed Academy okay thank u so much. I planned to build a scion fr-s with a 2jz swap. And alot of other things. Of course a rocket bunny wide body kit :) hope you guys have a great day and keep up the awesome work :)
im in the process of buying a new car (sti most likely ) but i need the pull a small trailer is there something like this for an sti like a receiver that doesn't interfere with the exhaust or difference? ?? some one plz answer
+Migalouch Garcia Check out our instagram page.We posted a photo of an STI towing a big trailer and it didnt interfere with the exhaust of anything like that. Not sure what brand of hitch was on the car but it's out there and available.
Sweet i can't wait. Every time i see the vids I see that rx7 in the back I have a 93 fd also can't wait to get tips from the vids . ya do an awesome job on all your cars. Thanks so much for responding!
+The Ultimate Racer Peter said trunk and it's the back of it because with no interior we now have the largest trunk in any FR-S :) That or his use of language just sucked there...
+Speed Academy Well kudos to him. Hey Dave or Peter, I know this is off topic but, when you guys are putting the ITBs on the AsS2000 are you guys also planning on changing the final drive? The Kia Sportage 4x4 has a 4.77 final drive that fits, also I think a 4.44 would work well also.
I love the way you showed the racing gear, you are not advertising, you´re showing a cool product from a sponsor that you guys know are good quality. A lot of bigger youtubers should learn from you guys. Great videos as always!
+Alberto Pettine Thanks Alberto. We promote products that we actually use and think highly of. We want to be as authentic and transparent as we can.
Speed Academy It really shows! And thats one of the many reasons I think your channel is uderrated.
+Speed Academy that is great!with you guys doing that people can take quality stuff easily
Do you think i could pull a kayak trailer with this, single kayak?@speedacademy
Wow, watching this series and looking back to what the FR-S used to be, makes it all worth it. You guys have built one awesome track car, not to mention all the things I've learned, from tire pressures, alignments, and aero, to mention a few. Looking forward to watching more projects from you guys!
+NorthernS15 Fantastic! Hearing that you've picked up a tip or two from us really means alot!
Happy for you guys! It's like going camping, but instead you guys are racing!
+NoGunLicense That's what we thought too haha.
+Kieron Ash Thanks and glad you're enjoying the content we produce!
She's completed!! Cant wait to see the video of the finished product!
It's kinda cool seeing a trailer hooked up to a race car. :) Good luck at Ontario 1500!
+Atrax R Thanks! The look on peoples faces is even cooler :)
Wow the car turned out super well!! I even think the high looks awesome on the back!
+Eoken Thanks, we really like it too!
Great job guys, keep 'em coming and more and more people will start watching (and loving) these videos. The format and everything else is spot on. Good luck!
+Mihnea Hiru THANK YOU! That's very reassuring to hear. We're by no means great on the production level but our hope is the content helps it along.
+Speed Academy it sure does. And the vibe you're sending out is great. Keep posting up project updates and tech tips. I'm gonna be here, enjoying them with a smile on my face, haha.
And good luck in future competitions!
+Mihnea Hiru Excellent! Thanks AGAIN!
You guys have given me so much inspiration for my first track car build thanks keep droping the great content. Hope you guys get to race in Florida one day.
very nice tow hitch!!! excellent idea! thanks for letting us know about the Slambert Performance hitch 👍👏👏👏💪
+k24hybrid Slambert provides outstanding service so don't hesitate to buy from them.
+Speed Academy nice 😃👍
Just watched the playlist in one sitting, awesome car guys.
+patto505 Wicked thanks!
Don't usually 'like' videos as i always forget and it usually takes an outstanding film to get me to remember. But i have to say you're channel is on it's way to becoming my favourite, so i'm going to do my bit to get you guys the views you deserve! Legends! All the best for Ontario
+steve6493 Many thanks Steve, that means a lot to us.
Anothet playlists in the book!! Time to go see thr frs racing playlist.
Awesome job guys! You guys are one of the reasons I currently own a 240sx. You guys should get a s13 and build a auto cross car(plan for my s13). Everyone makes fun of me because its a "drift" car..plus it would make my job a little easier for me :).. Happy wrenching!

+Eoken I'm doing the exact same thing. Pete is a beast!. I shall follow him into any garage battle!
So awesome! Enjoy! And hope to see some cool videos from the race.
+Sean Neal We'll have plenty of videos in the coming weeks!
Great video guys... I think the MOON WALK shoes part was my favorite. ;) Nicely done.
That hitch is insanely cool.
+Wu Watt And so easy to remove and put back on. We love the design of it.
I am so jealous! I'm looking into something for my Z.
+Victor Marchionna Awesome to hear! We're trying our best to product content that's both enjoyable and educational.
you guys are living the dream! i am a driver with no sponsor, starting is hard!
+Rising Sun Well we're not making much money so paying the bills is tough but we love what we do. Starting is always hard but no one ever said anything that takes skill and dedication would be easy right?
I agree!
I thought I spotted a Stanley socket kit! How do you guys like the kit?
+Travis Proteau Im not a huge fan of it, whoever designed the tool box made it impossible to remove the sockets with your hands, you always need a screw driver or allen key to pop them out. Plus our Allen keys rusted. :( But hey, it was affordable so can't complain too much.
You guys have a new follower 😜 can't wait to see more videos. Good luck 👍🏻
+James Cullen Welcome and thanks for subbing! :)
that red Datsun looks so sick, i got a 260z but its in parts and all rusted.
Are you guys going to come back to Targa Newfoundland next year for the 15th anniversary!!
I liked it right away just because race suits!
love the tow hitch so simple and if you guys wanna get it on and off fast you could use an electric impact gun like you would use for your wheel nuts
+Matthew Dolbey Yes indeed, the impact gun came with us on the Ontario1500 event but the 24mm socket did not... DOH!
+Speed Academy dam
might be worth buying one
I love how they match (never thought I'd be saying that about another man's clothes...) :D
+maximus9401 Aw thanks so much, now if only Dave was a hot female racer than I'd be even happier lol.
Dream Car right there! nice work guy!
Im getting the FRS pretty soon, I love this car, could you give me an estimate on how much you spent on aftermarket parts? I want to build it up like you guys did but I want to know what to expect to spend, and great content!
Awesome video guys, any chance for a "what to bring to a track day video?"
+walt350z We're trying to put that together before the end of October :D
can't wait for new footage!
+koo08 We've got 7 days worth to cut and edit but there should be new footage on its way soon.
Can you trailer hitch the front of the car ?
Geat video. I like the location of your shop looks like a cool place. Why trailer behind the car as opposed to hauling behind a truck?
+jorges2000 It's great in the summer but with no heat in the winter the shop is miserable haha. We have to drive the car for our Ontario1500 event, it cannot be trailered. Otherwise, we'd totally done that and saved our ears and backs from 3+ hours of driving in the race car.
So jealous, that rig is sweet!
+Daniel Fenton It was super cool rolling down the street getting plenty of thumbs up.
Car is looking awesome!
+Oliver Rivett-Carnac Many thanks, we really love the way it looks with a trailer!
+Speed Academy Yeah was worried last episode when you said you'd be be putting on a hitch. Neat solution. Good luck with the event!
Why did you guys never baffle the oil pan to prevent oil starvation while high G cornering?
Are you gonna show footage of ontario 1500??
+Vicente lerdo yessir, we'll be posting a video for each day of the event starting soon. New video each day for 7 days once we're ready to publish them.
+David Pratte awesome!
+David Pratte Yessssssss! Thank you!
good luck guys!
That hitch mount gives me an idea.. it could be a great "removable rocket bunny wing" solution. Bolt the wing to the hitch for downforce transmitted directly to the chassis, then take it off when the extra drag is useless on the drive home.. hmmm
Sweet! Now Dave doesn't have to wear two different gloves. Those shoes are SICK too.
+STEELERS743 Haha, Dave has zero excuses anymore. Yeah, we really love the shoes, they fit so well and are actually comfortable after wearing them the whole day.
You should get a tow hook that threads into the slambert rod.
that trailer is awesome....now im debating if i should get it for my car :P
+where is EsHaN I'm debating putting a hitch on the S14, it makes carrying parts, tools and tires to the track so much easier!
Awesome stuff, i drive an s2000 myself and wondering if you guys would ever make a trailer hitch for the badass2000 to carry some r-compounds?
+Pstar467 We've thought about it. All it would take is buying a trailer hitch and bam! Trailer ready!
Love the FRS build guys!
And the channel (subscribed)
But....

Hey what did you guys do for wiring the lights in the trailer? Easy or pain in the ass?
Would you go against towing with a BRZ ? Do you think it'd be bad for the car to constantly be towing heavy weight?
Do you have the wheel and tire sizes/specs somewhere on your site? I am running 245 on 18x8.5 35 ET and the tires are sticking out a bit, especially in the front. No rubbing though. Will the larger offset like 40ET work better?
+sadigov Check this story for all the info: speed.academy/scion-frs-voltex-advan-racing-gt-toyo-r1r/
+40 is the better offset and seems to be the go-to for the FRS/BRZ
I would really love to see some mazda rx7 videos from you guys.
+kananisA75 Ken is working on it to get the FD ready for a tuning and track testing very soon.
+Speed Academy It looks so Proper Racecar! Checked it out on the interwebs, amazing work has been put on that car! Someday... *cries*
How much weight do you think a brz can tow? Thanks!!!
Hey Dave and Peter,
I've love the videos you make and really have changed how my BRZ is. Also gave a good insight on boost. Cooling mods. And aero on the platform. Just wanted to ask what your wheel and tire spec's are. I can't find them anywhere for some reason. I'm really love the fitment that you guys have and I'm looking to do the same.
+Christian Jose Great to hear we've helped you out. The tire specs are 18x9.5 +40 with 255/35R18 Tires.
great information guys. Quick question, where do you weigh in on the Evo v Sti debate for track use. Will we ever see some awd time attack action?!
The 6-spd transmission is way better than the 5spd the Evos come with for daily driving use so it gets better gas mileage. For track use though, up until the latest generations all STIs tend to understeer quite a bit and require a lot of suspension mods (anti-dive, roll bars, bushings, etc.) to correct so the costs are much higher to get them to perform like Evos. The new gen STI is much better but I still prefer the Evo as a track car. For daily use though, the STI has a nicer interior, better build quality and much useable space.
Hope that helps!
+Speed Academy Thanks for the detailed response, that's my opinion as well. The evo motors make power more easily and safely than Sti motors. Subaru does know how to make a much nicer car though.
By any chance would that hitch work for connecting a bike rack?
+David Sio It certainly should because the tongue weight it pretty high but check with Slambert performance and they can confirm.
Does it only seem to me that your FRS is now more quiet than the episode before?! If not, earplugs FTW
+dexLR8 That's because we put the APEXi control valve in there to quiet it down. :)
Omg I want the badass2000, and the frs too haha
Can I add such trailer receiver on my Scion tC 2011?
Is it lowered I want to tow my Dirtbike with my frs
love the videos! keep them coming!!!!!!!!
I love the diffuser and which voltex wing is that which model
+Jadon Ghereben Have you been watching our previous videos? We talk about it the model, design, etc. so def check it out. But if you're dying to know, its a Type 7 swan neck wing.
+Speed Academy I've been watching your videos for a while I just forgot which wing it was and what video you talked about it. Thanks for sharing
Do you guys know of any companies that make a similar mini trailer to the one you guys used?
I see the Bad@$$ S2000 in the background!! When does the next chapter begin?
+Jasserv Not for another few weeks. We still have to finish up some other projects before diving into that car.
+Speed Academy thx for the reply. Will be patiently waiting
How do you find it drives with the trailer? The owner's manual of the thing does say "this car is nor recommended for towing" after all. Which I would suspect is down to the transmission and diff.
+Scot Mcphee It drove completely fine, this trailer with all the wheels and tools weighs about 400lbs so it's not that hard a load on the car but Toyota won't recommend it since it's always a liability.
warranty void! but I think you've done that already ;-)
+Scot Mcphee Yeah, something about a roll cage, supercharger and no interior may not fly with warranty claims. But seriously, just because it says not recommended doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. Just keep the weight down and you'll be fine in our books.
Wow nice
Hey you didn't show your wiring solution. Plug and play or cut and splice?
+Bluevitz-RS We didn't bother because it's three wires spliced into the rear brake and turn signal lights. Super simple!
When you get back you should paint the tailer highlighter yellow hahaha
+Jadon Ghereben We're not sure Ken would be happy with that but we have enough vinyl left over that we could def wrap it!
What happend to the understeer? Was it fixed after the wheel alignment??
+Zi9makin6 Indeed it was and it was only a problem at TMP the other tracks the car was actually oversteering.
Ok, awesome!
Love the FRS (it puts mine to shit), but I need to see more of that RX7!
+grape2623 Haha, soon! Tuning is next then a track day outing.
Could you tow a dirtbike with this
jacob augustin yea
Nice hitch and trailer. If the trailer box is only held down by ratchet straps - ROOKIE MISTAKE…
The box should be held down mechanically by nuts and bolts thru the bottom of the box.
If the ratchet straps becomes loose (That can happen easily) goodbye tool box - and I pray for the motorist following. If they don’t get killed, the can be seriously injured.
Bolt it down fellas. I may save someone’s life AND your tools and equipment.
that moon walk though! lol
now make an RX8 track build guys!!!
+Berry29tm Dave's had enough of the rotaries and sold his RX8 project so sadly the only rotary content will be of the RX7.
awesome...
Can someone please tell me where i can get that front lip and rear diffuser? super thankful for awnsers
+anton “harrypotta212” öhman www.drivewaylabs.com/
+Peter Tarach what the instagram name??
+Migalouch Garcia @speedacademy :)
Yea i just seen it
Its a big ass trailer to thanks bro
where can I get that hitch?
rx7 when are ya going to start on the fd!!!
+Jay P Progress is slow but we hope to have some content up in October.
Sweet i can't wait. Every time i see the vids I see that rx7 in the back I have a 93 fd also can't wait to get tips from the vids . ya do an awesome job on all your cars. Thanks so much for responding!
How much horsepowers does a speed academy sticker add?
+ai van Depends on the dyno, but we say anywhere from 7-10whp. ;)
sssoooo fancy
who said racecars aren't functional
+Icanhazammo You can fit 4 wheels in the backseat/boot of that car too.
Is there a link to purchase that tow hitch?
There. www.slambertperformance.com/shop/twin-hitch
Just found that. I need one for windsurf stuff trailer.
Good luck guys. Give em hell.
it's so quiet with the valve thingy exhaust thingy
+RB26 likeaboss At idle and without much load it is.
is that a rx 7 or miata in the back
+Ibrahim Gamer21 (Abraham21) RX7, they did a Suspension Video. Check it out!
What front lip are those?
+Leo Gonzales That is the Driveway labs front splitter.
Ya but can you really use the tow hooks for towing? That's not what they were designed to do.
6:45 how does one mistake a track fr-s for a truck?
U might of misunderstood he said trunk not truck
napkinman1 no one says "the back of the trunk"
+The Ultimate Racer he said everything that he laid on the floor were on the trailer and in the trunk
+Jairo Calero and in the back of the trunk*
+The Ultimate Racer Peter said trunk and it's the back of it because with no interior we now have the largest trunk in any FR-S :) That or his use of language just sucked there...
btw where's episode 11?
+Riza Wibawa This is episode 11 :) The internet was playing mind tricks on you. Or we may have just changed it to the correct number ;)
+Speed Academy I knew it.. :) I wouldn't miss a single episode on your channel tho, keep up the good work fellas! this channel is awesome..
Who did the moon walk?
+itsToon That would have been Peter, he's almost good at it ;)
+Speed Academy Well kudos to him. Hey Dave or Peter, I know this is off topic but, when you guys are putting the ITBs on the AsS2000 are you guys also planning on changing the final drive? The Kia Sportage 4x4 has a 4.77 final drive that fits, also I think a 4.44 would work well also.
+itsToon we're definitely looking at a higher final drive. Might go to a clutch-type LSD while we're at it.
+Speed Academy I can't wait to see what you guys do... keep up the awesome work guys!
why not take the s2k?. maybe cause the who trailer would be extra oil.. lol..

+johnzal79 Haha, it doesn't consume that much oil but it's definitely a burner.

It makes me cringe to see you guys using that amazing s30 240z as a parts holder :'(
+Snowpanda 99 Its no so amazing when you see all the rust on it.
Speed Academy I'm sure there is some rust on the car. it's old. but it's still a beautiful car.

+Pao Her Thank you! Hope you're enjoying them.
