To be more specific with Nana Shimura... Kotaro was upset when she gave him up to protect him from AFO. They both had a life together but when Nana gotten OFA and AFO being a big threat... to protect him... she gave him up. That's what he was upset about. At a young age... he didn't understand the situation and grew up with the resentments but didn't get the therapy or help. Kotaro didn't have a fucked up childhood... he just missed him love from his mom and felt she neglected him to protect others.
Something to note shigaraki's hair was actually always supposed to be white they just changed it for whatever reason but I do appreciate how they kinda incorporated it into the story
When Re-Destro wonders why his stress is receding in front of Shigariki's "freedom", he remembers the time when the adults put all the legacy of Destro and the reponsabilities on him when he was still a child. My guess is that he finally found someone who will take the burden and stress off his shoulders. That would explain why he's so joyful and happy to obey Shigaraki at the end of the episode, because now he's no longer in charge and he's happy about it, perhaps even without being aware. I didn't read the manga so far, so I might be wrong.
I think it's also to try and build stress up again after using so much. He's gotta know how his people feel seeing their former Grand Commander acting like an eager intern, and of course Shigaraki won't treat him well with that attitude which further adds to the stress.
Shigaraki fought Gigantomachia for almost 2 months straight with minimal sleep, came up with a great plan, fought off Members of the Liberation Army, destroyed Redestro and the city with a single attack after remembering who he was, became a symbol of fear, took the army and their assets, and made sure his comrades were fed well. He is the textbook definition of built different. Absolutely amazing character.
Bear in mind that Shigaraki's monologues aren't really trustworthy and sincere, for example the ones where he talks about his past and how he actually enjoyed killing his family, which I heavily doubt given how traumatic and horrified he was when it happened (minus his dad). Rather, it's most likely a result of the brainwashing of AFO and the Doctor's he went through since he was five and he internalised what they've told him. Great reaction btw!

However, I could see Shigaraki's quirk manifesting in a less destructive way (like only destroying non-living matter) if his mental state was better during his quirk awakening. It would still have the same upper limits as it does now but he would have to train and work on it like the UA kids do.
The episode cut out the tie-in moment for the second movie, but after saying he'll give Shigaraki power, Ujiko asks for him to deliver something first (Nine), with one of Hawks' feathers listening in.

It's maybe just me but i always liked Re destro's character and purpose more than the league of Villains, and that since the manga mostly because of how real it feels like. Shiggy is more like Darth Vader. While Re destro sounded like Killmonger to me.
fun fact the two villains laid out in the end where the civilians banded together and killed them were actually at the usj incident. The guy black shirt with gray fingers had finger guns like phantom troupe guy. Remember when the teachers arrive in episode 13 and they finally jump in he can be seen clear as day in the center shot.

She gave her son to adoption to protect him, and at the end she wasnt strong enough to defeat all for one and died. He is the type of villaing that will kill all the loved ones of the hero before killing the hero. She made the right choice to stay away from her kid. Also, quirks are genetic not psychological, your mind state can determine the output of your power, but it doesnt affect the type of power you get. Eri had a normal family and she still killed her dad by accident.

you guys like most of the reactors are forgetting something very important, the law forbid the use of the quirks in any way that creates advantage on the job unles you have a hero liscence. as example remember that uraraka motive to enter in a hero school was originally get the license to help her family construction business(crane who?) i an not clear on especifics but even the fact that the liberation members practice their quirks at home can be illegal.

For example, the police force has people with animal quirks that help them on the job like the police chief and that cat cop. The law that forbids quirk use is most only focused in public places to prevent more dangerous quirks from being used. At the same time it's a law that isn't always strictly enforced. Horikoshi gave an example of Deku's mom Inko using her quirk to pick up her keys off the street. Most cops wouldn't bust her for it even though it technically breaks the law. It's like jaywalking. There is no law stopping people from using their quirks on their own property barring it doesn't cause disturbance for others like in real life. Uraraka did not enter UA to get a license to work for her parent's business, she entered to become a hero. When she was little she told her dad she wanted to help but he rejected it because he wanted her to do what she wanted to do.
