What a great review, definitely going for this M1000R. Gonna be very fun here in South African roads.

What do they mean by "the wings are only bolted on"? How else would thay be attached to the bike. I have one of these and they seem pretty well fixed to the bike to me. I actually dropped mine doing a sharp U turn and the bike landed on the wing and left engine case. The fall was quite gentle as I was holding the bike as it fell, but apart from a few scratches, the wing wasn't damaged at all.

If you have the choice between the S and M it’s the one to go for 👍🏻

I went from my Hockeheim SR to the completion MR it was a tough choice, but all I can say is that I would not have bought the S had I known the M was coming.
Loved the S and being honest it’s all the bike you can ever need for road use.
But owning the M now for 3 months it feels unbelievably tame when you want it to be, but when the urge comes and you want that extra umph it’s like nothing I can put in words.
BMW have set the bar for naked hear purely because of its usability value.
Other 1lt naked makes seem to have the best in certain areas but not in all, they all have a way to go to get on the level of the M.
I could t live with the service costs of an Ducati that’s for sure ☺️

Good to hear your 3 month ownership reflects what I thought. I’ve edged my bets and gone with a straight through decat. The question is will this tied me over for only one or two years before I take a M? 😂

@@yodomcat Good luck with keeping your emotions in control 😂 I think had I kept the S like you I would have spent a lot of money buying trick bits and carbon bits, so it’s likely my total would not have been far behind the 25k price of the M.
The bits I did buy for the S pro race carbon stainless, Wunderlich crash protection, obviously ended up on my M and the BMW windshield, it was painful removing the little carbon one as suppled 😂 but it can go back on anytime.

I did actually put a deposit on the Stretfighter V4S but cancelled the next day when I realised it didn't have heated grips or cruise control. If you've owned a BMW with these two features, you will never be able to live without them again. On any bike. The next day, I bought one of these.
All bikes should have cruise control. On modern bikes it is just an electrical code in the ECU and should be fitted on all bikes as standard.

Not finding quite the same on my S after doing it all. The M just has that liner power everywhere.

Ah… no dips in the power or torque either fresh put the box stock? Thats impressive. Imagine that plus a stage 2 from bt. Hey does your S or M have or had high revs on cold starts?

This pot hole business with carbon wheels comes up a lot on many forums or YT reviews of this bike. How freaking big would a pot hole have to be for it to cause damage to a carbon wheel over any other type of motorcycle wheel? if the pot hole is that big, you'll be off anyway regardless of carbon, alloy or steel.

    • @yodomcat
      @yodomcat  Рік тому

You seen how big the pot holes in the uk are now? I have friends who have bent steel wheels.

I live in East Anglia and I have not yet encountered a pot hole that has caused me a problem. Maybe I've been lucky so far.
