Bidding jobs has been difficult for me. I want to be fair to the client. But, I also want to be paid a fair wage for my skill level. Adding prices up on the spot and breaking down all the different items that are needed and figuring in prep time... Think about the service you’re providing and degree of knowledge difficulty, and fair market value before presenting estimates like this… I’m a 25+ yrs Real estáte investor... I had a guy summit an $8700 assessment....7 days later, I ran into him at the local Sherman Williams... He asked me how the project was going. At the time, I was about 85% completed for $2700 all in..., And it looks great Be mindful of overvaluing yourself... A repair shop owner referred the painter. I was getting my oil changes at... spoke to him about that painter and his prices... The shop owner smiled and said, “he's good though, “ and that's close to the price he gave me.” I shared with him my satisfaction and prices with another guy, and he thanked me and now uses my guy...

I’m writing to request a copy of the excel estimating sheet - the spread sheet looks really helpful. Since I watched the UA-cam video, I’ve attempted to replicate but no success. If you could reply or attach the document, that would be amazing.
How is it going. I booked an office space gig with one company last year and they pay a flat rate for standard size/office studio .they provide paint. flow of work is not as consistent but great for me to get my feet wet. I tried to ramp up my work and called other commercial office space company. I introduced my services as a painter and she said they need painters and were interested. She asked me what my numbers were and I wasn't sure what to tell her ,for not want to price myself out of work. So I asked her what her budget was and what they were paying out. She said her average rooms are 9x9s. And they are paying $90 just for paint (no prep work/nail pops/drywall repair). I tried to work out the math and it seems that a 9x9 is 81sq ft. And they are paying 1.11 per sq footage of room (not walls)- another question in itself - Should I charge on wall square footage or room square footage. Then she proceeded to ask me my numbers for prep work such as nails pops for drywall repair. and said she would follow up to ask me my numbers. Seeing as how they already seem to be on tight budget as they are a small company.I have no estimating system for prep work or just random regular nail holes that are scattered and can't find how to price that for her when she follows up. What do you suggest, I would greatly appreciate the help.
I would go after residential painting. This type of work is often the worst kind there is in my opinion. I would let them know you don't price things based off of square foot, you take a lot of other things into account. You can bid out some options like apartment A with this floor plan will cost this much if you do, walls, ceilings and trim | this much if you do just trim | this much if you do walls and trim | this much if you do trim and ceiling | and this much if you do just walls that way, they know what it cost per that unit and leave it at that. Bidding based on square footage in my opinion horrible way to do it and your profit margin will be all over the place because it's not about just square footage it's about how much work is there. Adding trim doesn't really add much square footage, but it adds a ton of work.

I ask a 2.15 to do a tape and float lave 4 and paint and a guy say that am crazy to ask just for labor in a comercial building can someone tell me if am too high with price
Prices will be all over the place, if you want to stay in business, you price will need be higher than people who end up, going out of business because they didn't charge enough.
