That has to be taken with s grain of salt. You never give out more information than necessary. One in a blue-moon it may be necessary to provide the dollar-value for each line-item, but you're always better off showing the customer your painting scope-of work, and the total bid. (Reason why is because if somethind is deleted, then you give back the customer 90%, and you still make 10% without raising any red flags. (It is not dishonesty. You will lose money on other jobs, and no one will feel sorry for you.)

Use higher pricing for UPSCALE residential projects. I would stay away from most residential projects because the money just isn't there. Same thing for apartments, and dealing with insurance companies. You're better of working by the hour without the headaches. Of course there are exceptions but then we would not be paying our fair share of taxes. (HINT)

After adding 50% you will be doing good if you get to keep 15% profit. (If you do work for the government, then you have to show only 15% overhead and profit, which is BS, but that's the way it has to be presented. The government can track material costs, but it's very hard for them to track labor.) - If you have strong, heavy competition in your area, then there's room for lowering your mark-ups.

I always price out TWO coats on re-paints even if it will be painted the same color. Reason why is because many times, one coat does not cover. (Almost invisible cigarette smoke on the walls is an example.) One good thing is that a second coat can be applied pretty quickly. In the long run, the customer and the painter are both covered. - I feel the hourly rates presented are kind of high, but then again that's another state and most home-owners do not know any better.
