ty cobb was once asked how he would fare against todays pitchers to which cobb replied i'd only hit about 270 and the guy asked why he thought that cobb replied because i'm 72 years old. classic answer.
I’m still a bit all over the place when it comes to my thoughts on Cobb as a person, but one thing you can’t disagree with was that the man had an amazing sense of humor in his later years.
There’s a podcast getting started called Real Baseball Talk. Real underground atm, think they’re only on instagram, but I’ve heard those guys will have a ton of baseball content on stuff that hasn’t been regurgitated by every single baseball UA-cam account ever
Strictly in terms of the competition, Im glad the story ended the way it did because the twist at the end woulda probably been discovered sooner and caused all kinds of problems
Keep it up man. Your videos are gold. A better mic/recording setup, more confidence and emotion in your voice (it's a little too meek for YT), some well-timed and well-adjusted music, and a little more flair with your editing; your videos will be platinum and you'll hit 100k subs by the end of the year. Foolish Baseball found his niche in the absurd, but Bailey is a unicorn and I don't think you're suited for that kind of video. The gold-standard, and the person that you need to study right now is Baseball Doesn't Exist. I think you can find the perfect spot in baseball YT if you blended your Secret Base-style-vocals and research with BDE's level of panache. TL:DR You definitely have a YT career ahead of you.
Wasn't expecting another video so soon, but it's another BANGER! Always impressive when someone can make a story like this with no video footage or anything so interesting and engaging
Good video. The only nitpick I have is the assertion that Ty Cobb grew up poor, he actually came from a fairly well-to-do family, his father was a college professor and a state senator who supported education for black people (not a popular stand in late 19th century Georgia). Cobb's father was against him playing baseball, thought it was beneath him, but when Ty insisted, his father said "Don't come back a failure." Cobb's father never saw Ty become a success, as he was shot and killed by his mother (she claimed that she thought he was a burglar) weeks before Ty's MLB debut. This at least in part explains Ty's maniacal competitiveness.
The breakdown of the let’s play some fucking ball then tht montage with tht graph probably the sickest piece of baseball media I’ve seen this year. *chefs kiss* ez sub
So Basically a few Hall Of Famers competing to see who can crush the ball the hardest for a full season. Wish I could see 5 such players competing for something like this, although I suppose 90's endless hof pichers dueling was a treat in its own right.
The beginning of this video really put things into perspective for me just how good honus Wagner was. I knew he was one of the greats but those stats are bonkers Also, this story had an oddly wholesome ending to it
5:54 Now I cannot finish the video because I'm thinking of how Freddie might leave my Dodgers for the Braves and be the DH. I thought it was a shame he left the Braves even though he was joining the Dodgers. I had just thought it was the right move for baseball if Freddie retired a Brave, but now I want him to retire a Dodger and have a Frank Robinson like stretch with his second team. No backsies! Also there's a mistake on the team(s) column after Freddie.
Fricken Allen, hit the damn subscribe already!!! Also for a topic idea, I suggest looking into the career of Buzz Arlett. Fascinating superstar who only got one year in the MLB due to a series of incidents but absolutely dominated the minor league circuit out west. I’ve only recently dove into him myself for an OOTP card I’m making, but it’s a very rich story I think you’d do great with!!
Tongue-in-cheek means "facetiously" (not sure what the presenter meant, but surely it was not that). What's more, while more importance today is assigned to power stats than was the case in the Dead Ball Era (or even as recently as 20 years ago), the Batting Ttitle certainly isn't trivial or irrelevant. It is the offensive equivalent of the ERA title. It is well to remember, too, that one of the reasons batting titles have lost some of their luster is the relatively low (historically speaking) average typically posted by the champion in today's data-driven/launch-angle/always-swing-for-the-fences era.
Kind of funny that the St. Louis Browns teamed up with Cleveland after the ownership in the 1890's screwed the then Cleveland Spiders. They owned both teams and sent all the talent from Cleveland to St. Louis, including legend Cy Young. Cleveland being unable to retain players almost seems like a curse stemming from that moment.
Most early players before the Black Sox scandal cheated or threw games. Even back in 1871, there were people fixing games. Thank Curt Flood for kickstarting the players' union so we will never have that problem again. Now players only cheat to win. Pete Rose, steroids, spider tack, and the trash cans. I'm sure there will be cheaters in the future too, but at least they won't be intentionally losing games. It makes statistics pointless if they throw games. Also, kudos for throwing in a Lolita Express pic.

This was a really freaking cool video. I’d love to dive more into 1900s baseball if you had more stories that you would

That was definitely something I was worried about when creating this, but I’m glad the Final Cut is engaging while being comprised of about
This type of video is unbeatable. Great video once again!
Thank you!
the best part of a new No More Fielders video is the new music in it and the baseball is cool i guess
The music is why I do this
Your soundtracks are so good
That Cleveland team had a young Shoeless Joe Jackson on that team.
Joe had little impact upon that team in that year.

Thank you very much for introducing me to Smoke Detector.
Honestly if there is one thing I hope people got from this video, it was to listen to Smoke Detector. Glad you understood the task.
Love the gran turismo vibes for a baseball video bro 😂
I want my videos to evoke the same memories I had playing Gran Turismo 3 Saturday mornings so huge respect for picking up on that
4:20 (nice) me at 2am in the morning in a Toyota Corolla
This is probably the most interesting mlb video I’ve watched
Thank you that means a lot
i love that they both got a car in the end
GT2/3 SCROLL NOISE AND GT4 BACK NOISE DETECTED 🥵
Nice touch lol
Couldn’t make a video involving a car and NOT include those sound effects

What is song that happens during the race segment of the video? Please help
Only Yew by Smoke Detector
All of the songs I use are in the descriptions of my videos
For your next "replacing a player" video, can i suggest Joe Mauer? The Twins have had up and down play since but no one to really hold down the fort.
"After he rejoins the Braves" I love your enthusiasm
Letting Judge stay in and raise his average with 7 bunts is EXACTLY what i was hoping for in 2022. I wanted that triple crown so bad.
He’ll do it eventually especially now that Shohei and Arraez are gone

I mean it was more Jack O’Connor than the Browns, but that is some delicious irony I hadn’t even thought about.
You should do a video on the black sox scandal
Great video
Thank you!

Thank you for pronouncing Nap Lajoie correctly.
First time I ever pronounced someone’s name correctly
Gran Tarismo sound effects was good. Well the whole video was but ya know
But it was Connie Mack with the last laugh in 1910
Banger alert
maybe it's just the black and white pictures but honus wagner looked like he was like 70 in the pictures.
It’s weird because he looks his age in early photographs, but he aged 25 years by the time he turned 30.
Love the Vsauce reference
