This particular method only works with text layer, so that would be a no, you can animate shape layer or image position and create a motion path that way

You could increase the first or last margin at the beginning and them decrease it at the end, kinda reverse of what's shown in the video

Increase the distance between keyframes by moving the second keyframe forward
